  1. Any news Kavik? How's she going?
  2. Nothing that interesting but I got all excited that my ProKolin+ and Essential 6 orders arrived. Sad huh LOL.
  3. But people do make money doing it half arsed. To paraphrase one recent BYB who did nothing but keep her dogs pregnant and in runs with some food thrown at them....'I can make $3000 a go, they love to breed, it's what they were born to do, my dogs are happy'
  4. No problem YG. You are too kind. Chester looks like a mini Lucky. I'll be willing him to get better for you. :)
  5. :cheer: Yay Andrea!!! Congrats lovely lady. Welcome to the world Tyrone.
  6. Just out of Renbury. Sick and bald. Feeling much betters. :)
  7. Thank you so much for posting Powerlegs. I know how much you would have gone through to get your boy healthy. If Chester does have a similar issue, I feel a bit more positive about getting him better. I'll ask the vet about a nebuliser - did you use one for your boy or was it just a matter of manually keeping him upright and breathing? At the time, all I had were pretty much what you've got vet, meds, nebuliser edit sorry I meant vaporiser, 4litres of cola to keep me awake and a manual restart whenever he needed it. I even set up a little tented area like you have! :) The vaporiser faced directly at him during the worst part, it seemed to help him a tiny bit more. Since then the rescue owns a nebuliser and it's worth it. With most of your rescues being quite tiny and elderly compromised animals I'd look into it. :) Baytril can be nebulised too afaik.
  8. Not saying it's the same thing but....Sounds so similar to a terribly bald and sad japanese spitz boy I rescued once. It was a 36hr shift to get him through the very worst of it. Vaporiser, shots, antibiotics from his vet should have worked (he had everyone shaking their heads) but sometimes there's the odd dog who is very susceptible and very immune suppressed. So under vet advice, meds and in conjunction with me being there to stand him up and revive him when he stopped breathing (passed out, eyes roll back, wet himself), it took a lot of noooo-sleep but he turned a corner, got better, grew all his hair back and ended up being adopted. Worst upper respiratory tract infection I've ever ever seen. Also the most awesome boy who really stole my heart, we fought so hard together and he didn't even look back over his shoulder as he trotted off to a new home. You might look into buying a nebuliser, for the tiniest dogs it's the best way of delivering medication for respiratory disease. Omron brand if you google it.
  9. Personally I hear exactly what the OP is saying. *flame suit* The amount of absolute lies spun for the sake of getting a reaction is amazing. Not just rescue BTW but getting a couple of dogs and starting a FB page does not make you a rescue. BYB's masquerading as rescue. Collectors handing out unvetworked "rescued" animals (at least they're not dead right?). Making up tall stories to get donations and have people call you an angel... knowing the whole time you'll PTS. Bashing former owners, bashing reg breeders, pulling out fanciful unverified stories of abuse, bait dogs or puppy farms to get people in a blind tizzy. The whole Moorook scandal.... omg seriously deranged people being used to make it impossible for volunteers to continue in safety. The poor woman whom they believed reported Moorook had all her details published for every nutter to see! Is that creating awareness of animal welfare or is it creating a culture of viral hysteria? Ruralpug, yes you have a very very good point too. So many lost pets have been reunited and many pound animals have found safety. Good rescues run absolutely fantastic pages and hats off the the people who run pound pages virtually 24/7! Signed: Long done with FB and living in a happy bubble. :)
  10. Faaar out. Yep, take them down and have another group list them. Different photos, new names, post on FB that they've been adopted or moved interstate to keep them safe.
  11. TT, you may have not noticed yet but your post count has reached enough (I think, unless it's 200 now) that you can access the off-topic section where your thread wouldn't be out of place. :) Mods can move it if you ask. eta: I think people need to remember that others don't always know the minutiae of DOL posting.
  12. Well they look pretty alert! :) I'd continue as you are until they are safe from shedding into the environs. You can still carry parvo out on your feet for example so set up a footbath. Clusters of parvo outbreaks have been attributed to movement to neighbouring properties by rainy weather and insects (I can't confirm if that is true). But bleach and iso will be your friend for a while longer. @12 weeks, they will be fine. They have each other and can catch up on socialising. Just my opinion of course.
  13. I guess the meeting he claimed to have booked with the RSPCA CEO (quoted in a previous post) went down like a lead fart?
  14. Where can I find out more about the new strain you mention? All I can ever find about 'new strains' is that yes, parvovirus is an evolving/mutating virus with strains that pop up but vaccines still seem to cover all current strains in australia. So it's not so much a case of vaccination being ineffective, more of being able to recognise the early symptoms presented and seek help immediately. one small example without the science-speak. Maybe someone has more info.
  15. I'd just like to say a public heartfelt thank you to the dear lady who sent me condolences and a couple of little things to remember my Herb by. How very special you are. Thank you.
  16. I've heard it's getting good results in chronic failure treatment in combination with diet. After years of somehow escaping kidney issues in my seniors I lost two oldies this year with rapid acute failure so long term treatment was not an option. They both had to be given their wings. Sorry, for browsing readers just pointing out there is chronic (gradual decline) and acute (sudden).
  17. Have you asked your vet about the benefits of using fortekor to aid kidney function?
  18. I'm very sorry about the babies and they are in my thoughts. But I just have to say, well done for seeing you have high risk pups and being proactive about isolation and vet treatment.
  19. She does look like a Hairy MacLary !!
  20. I'd email Julie at the MDBA (DOL 'Steve'), she's usually got the latest on non profit org insurance. :)
  21. All natives are protected unless a permit to cull is issued AFAIK. Swan deaths happened near here in a large park with reclaimed natural areas, specifically so the wildlife would return. However there were witnesses to a man encouraging his dogs to attack. If the council rangers and police aren't interested (which just sounds lazy IMHO) you're going to have to take it to the Parks & Wildlife dept, and local media to get community momentum.
  22. I don't do FB, can someone post or PM the Sydney details pls?
  23. I know her, she is tiny and his best friend. They always sit there (pitt st). A pox on the jerk who kicked her
  24. Kiki's is in Sydney, but still wonderful. :)
