Chained Dog Awareness Trust Nz

Have a look in the In Loving Memory section - that has more info on how they are killed Thanks MM. x -
We need an independent Ombudsman service for animal welfare. And this poor old bloke. If he was a 'horse hoarder' why run in and crush him? It's been agreed (Tufts HARC) you need a multi pronged approach to helping the individual and the affected animals. Having a doco made about him, no matter how sympathetic doesn't exactly prepare an elderly man for the crazies of social media taking it on as their mission in life. Most of whom seem to love the RSPCA one minute and hate them the next depending on the latest viral campaign.

That seems to be top of the list, education owners and getting better care, vetwork, socialisation etc. Then surrender if the owner will decide it's all too hard. So it doesn't really say but the nicer setups might be properties they were working on. The bit I don't understand is where the dogs are - killed for non registration. I guess they got off their chain and were unclaimed? edited because I can't spell -

Have you been to the shelter? Genuine question, because I have not. -

Slightly OT but.... I always found Helen to be an extremely reasonable person particularly when she was trying to stop NSW dogs being left at the shelter because unprepared families were having them shipped to them by a "rescue". She could have gone off her head but handled everything very sensibly and wasn't interested in getting the crazies involved. Anyway, they will do much better without Mark's input on the whole thing. When he gets on his bicycle and peddles off into the sunset Moorook might actually be able to put a lid on the hysterics. Still, I don't know the shelter but hope for a quiet resolution that benefits the animals only. Not someone's political aspirations. -
Help Needed For Mini Paws Foster Carers. Urgent
_PL_ replied to Rozzie's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Rachelle, it would be a good idea to state on your petrescue listings that pups are available at 12 weeks. I've not once seen pups advertised there without their eyes open yet. edited to add a question How does this work exactly? Is the mother in your name so you can take the pups and desex her then give her back? If not, then you do not own the mother meaning you have no legal ownership of the puppies you are advertising. And you cannot make their owners surrender them or enforce a verbal agreement to vetwork or rehome any of them. These are the same pups as the ones on petrescue. Eyes still closed and unless the mother is chipped to you - not your property to be advertising. This isn't meant to be combative but you've made a public statement here that doesn't explain how this setup works or how you prevent the owners selling the (entire) pups themselves after you've sent interested parties to go meet them. -
Thank you. I feel really defeated to have lost him but I know he was loved and cared for.

Perhaps I wasn't as clear as I thought. I stated my thoughts, not what I think other people ought to be doing. I have no interest in you, a group I've never heard of, or a Facebook page I can't see. I actually defended your right to ask a question in an old thread. AND agreed that someone flying the rescue flag should be ok with reasonable questions. So thanks for that. -

That's lillypilly's choice T. Saying I prefer to see things first hand isn't a backhander about being mislead by anyone. Remember, "I heard" is the way rumours take on a life of their own. So that's where I've drawn my line. First hand or not at all. This thread was started months ago and has comments from several others regarding their confidence in the setup, nobody accused the OP or anyone else of a witch hunt so one new member asking a question doesn't constitute a witch hunt either. And frankly right now I really don't care enough to debate if this 'rescue' is dodgy or awesome or has a mentor or if there's some kind of grudge or who's in the right. If jusdeb doesn't want her on her page she doesn't have to. Simples. -
Darling Percy. He was with me for a year and has left such an empty space. He settled in like he'd always lived here, he also had all the usual daily maintenance wobbly old man things happening and was retired into permanent care. We enjoyed days in the garden or a shuffle in the park, mostly Percy loved his doggy stairs up onto the sofa, from there he could claim the best spot. He had a collection of his favourite coral fleece blankets and a wardrobe of clothes that had to be straight out of the clothes dryer before he'd let me dress him. Very suddenly, his body began to fail him and we had to say goodbye forever. You can't hold back time but I hope his last year on earth was the best. Goodbye beautiful. I miss your happy little morning dance and your clever way of slowly inching your way onto my lap with nobody realising they were being slid off onto the sofa. :) And your champion speed at working the IQ puzzle toy to get out your favourite snacks. Cheeky boy. I'll see you again one day and promise to have my pockets stuffed full of roo treats. Missed by us all. xxxxxx Anna Percy at the pound Percy in the car the day he got out. Percy's first and last christmas with us.

I don't take a stranger's word for anything without seeing with my own eyes. & Calling yourself a rescue doesn't mean nobody can ask questions or that you can give someone a gobful when they do. If she was a byb doing the same thing people would be outraged. Jusdeb, your page your rules, don't stress over it and give her the flick. There's a thousand other places she can take her puppies. (btw People don't dredge up old threads on purpose. Google brings them, I don't even look at dates myself.) -
One of those techy things that you download books onto and then read?

Thank you Nawnim. It's so strange to still expect him to hop off the lounge and trot out for his dinner. Little man.

I'm glad there has been a civilised outcome. If anyone is wondering why groups are told in these exchanges that they are responsible for dogs dying...... Names removed to protect groups 'outed' in this gem..

Thankyou so much. It may be the late night and early start but you guys have me a bit teary. Thank you for visiting Herb's little memoriam. xxx

They do change as they age. :) Make sure your dog routine never changes, seniors love timetables. Get him a doona, or a minky blanket. His very own one that's only used for him and when you want to tuck him in. I don't know why but some dogs like that. Have a blood panel done. General health assessment and have his joint flexibility checked in case discomfort is waking him up. You may need to look at his diet and digestive health - again, in case discomfort is a problem. Do consider the warning signs of dementia, it's more common than you think and begins so subtly in some dogs that it's clearer in retrospect. Column heater as suggested already. Heated dog bed. Or heated dog bed inside an open-door crate with a blanket over it - no drafts. In your room would be good, but it's not going to be a small crate.

Just before the thread goes. This post was very brave. Thank you skyefool.

A minute ago you were all for running up the white flag and sprouting crocodile tears that her youthful passion leads her astray. Was I? Perhaps you didn't read my post properly before getting confused. I believe I said she's only 27 (compared to older and apparently wiser people who have done the exact same thing) and should and will face up to what she's done. And that I have some small amount of understanding (not sympathy) as to how she came to be where she is now.
-
Yes, it's foul behaviour. 27 is old enough to take responsibility for what you do which is what will happen, Sas has every right to front her on it. Just trust me, she's a lightweight compared to what they are capable of and what they have gotten away with.

It is. I'm certain they know it given the two vetwork versions of the same pups for two different sites.
