  1. I can't tell you all how much I appreciate your kindness. Thank you, from me and from Herb. xxxxx
  2. Oh Anne, all my love to you and Monte. Losing your heart dog has to be the most feared and frightening thing I ever went through. It's a blessing that his body let you know what to do for him. Thinking of you. xxxx Anna
  3. When we first met. 7 or so years ago. He was my little old man even then.
  4. Thank you everyone. We've all had so many losses in the last 18months I'd hoped it was over for a while. We lost him on Sunday and I just thought OK work through it, keep busy, don't let it break you, there's so many other things to worry about and he's at peace now and not suffering. But I keep looking for him. Wishing he would come home.
  5. We've just had this crap from a very clumsy rescuer. Nice try hypocrite.
  6. Herbert, I miss you so much. I keep looking for you, expecting to see your little grey face watching me. Your waggly bum at dinner time and your snuggles anytime my bum hit the sofa. You were the grandad and the welcome wagon. Everybody's favourite. I'm sorry you got so sick, I'm sorry there was nothing anyone could do, please understand we had to help your failing body to go see rainbow bridge. I love you. XXX Anna Herb in his heyday. Still wearing his Monika's tag. After 18 months volunteering in Drummoyne he was the only dog who stole my heart instantly. He chose me. Herb's 2012 Christmas. I remember knowing it would be his last. :rainbowbridge:
  7. Horrid creatures. And they milk it too once they get the first payment. It's awful to be asked to find someone a yorkie because some turd took their money for a dog they never got.
  8. One good thing I can see with yearly rego is right now, people think that a chip and a lifetime rego magically follows them around as they move or the pet gets given to new owners. I often hear 'my pet is chipped why can't we find him! Why didn't the pound contact me?' but the details on the chip are nil or out of date. Yearly updates via rego would hopefully keep the dogs/cats more trackable. At least for the people who follow it up. Not sure how they would keep the costs at a reasonable rate or find council staff the extra time to faff around with processing but that could be hidden in the discussion paper somewhere.
  9. Google Free Puppy Scam or Nigerian Puppy Scam, happens a lot with british bulldogs and yorkshires. Awful bottom-feeders.
  10. Alo, accepting donations via paypal when you aren't a registered not for profit can get your paypal account suspended, so you might want to take that down (and investigate the t&c's!) Oops yes and they lock it so you can't move the money out. See Office of Liquor Gaming and Racing to get your basic authority going. It's sad you are wasting your chance here. That whole useless post about defamation could have been about you instead, and a simple request not to mention you and P**** R***** in the same post which would be easy to do. & Whoever your friend is, isn't helping.
  11. No offence CBE but this is the rescue section. And you're rescuing dogs now so it pays to be patient with questions because you're going to get them anyway. You don't have to listen to me of course, it's just a good chance to introduce yourself. :) Don't waste it.
  12. There's so much you need to know about the way things work but I'm sure others will fill you in. Particularly the "kill dogs for money", not sure who told you that one. My question to you is why aren't you equally appalled that PR have walked away, staff are getting abused and 5 lives and the future of more are being used as emotional blackmail?
  13. I thought this was all about floods etc. How sad. A council listens to 3 complaints and shuts a pound down? Doesn't happen here that's for sure. Either there's more to the story or they've been handed a useful opportunity to end the contract because they want to.
  14. Yep, second opinion before you waste a lot of time and money. I've never had a dog who was cured of bacterial/fungal by malaseb or pyohex alone, once there is that nasty smell. Mildly affected cases w/ short or shaved hair yes. x2 on the pro dryer to get completely dry. I'm also surprised that your vet didn't suggest moisture trapped close to the skin by double coat that's known to be an insulator. Or investigate prescription treatment. Ears are another place for nasties so do ask for a check in there too.
  15. Don't forget the fake FB 'Pound List' profile she made up to belittle rescuers on our behalf. Not bad for someone who randomly accuses people of being Trolls and Haters.
  16. That's where rolly eye man would have been handy. God there's some odd comments. Lots of !!!!!! and ????? and CAPSLOCK. I can absolutely see where people are coming from if they don't have the experience or the right information but going off like pork chops doesn't help. Especially if threats are being made.
  17. Did the vet do a skin scrape or take any kind of samples? Bacteria respond to antibiotics and if there's a certain strain present they can hit it with specific instead of broad spectrum. Then there's fungal, which stinks also and steamy thick warm dog hair is a great place for it to live especially after a foul dip in the lagoon. Maybe try another vet. ETA- you're also washing her too much if there's a skin condition.
  18. I read Katdogs' as meaning high drive, above regular pet needs and probably bouncing off the walls after 2 weeks impound. Not DA/HA dogs. I'm not familiar with every method of temp testing but I assume if a dog was trying to munch the tester they wouldn't bother proceeding to find out if it's a potential recruit for anything. But yeah, the comment below the article itself was odd. About pit bulls and rehab programs and american TV programs. Hard to make any sense out of some of them.
  19. Beautifully said. BTW I read a letter in a magazine from a woman who said she nearly got a thrill one evening. She was getting dinner at the stove when her husband came in from work behind her. He said, 'Did you have a good day, my darling?' She started to answer but he interrupted, 'I was talking to the cat.' Sounds like my house.
  20. I assure you we didn't ever post dramatics  It was just time consuming and stressful. We were constantly badgered and and more than once, abused and threatened for not taking a poor old dog. It's awful enough to have to say no (extremely politely btw) without the abuse. It's easy for people to be nastier online. Maybe I'm too soft but I find that upsetting and unnecessary. So we do what works for us.
  21. Which is why temp testing these dogs that everyone has backed away from is a step in the right direction. And the way PR work, the dogs are released to anyone it's just not an adoption at the pound. So even if the pound say 'release to rescue only' on the basis of health or questionable temperament they rely completely on trusting a rescue to do the right thing. These changes wouldn't have been brought in if everything was roses. There was a post in the BP thread that described the nature of 2 of these dogs. ETA: NOT saying PR are the only ones guilty of handling questionable dogs.
  22. I prefer the company of beautiful souls, no matter what parcel they are wrapped in. :) And you can't put humans and dogs in the same basket so it's never a question of choice. BTW And am I the only one who gets the feeling the dogs get more I love you's from a certain man of the house than I do?
  23. Ta Nic, from the FB letter you posted I kind of got the idea that dogs being tested were the ones with no rescue/EOI. It would be impossible to test everyone. I do hope there is flexibility. You're spot on about Shar Pei, that kind of breed specific trait is what I'm concerned about. And your spelling is fine
