  1. Sorry all, would it be clearer if I said battery powered heated pet coat?
  2. Hi LB! :) And thank you. I unpacked the goodies, there's a thankyou piccie of them on FB. The battery operated jacket is going to be tested soon but I might need supervision or will just hand it over to Toots to be in charge of, I'd never seen one before! Such a good idea especially for the oldies. I wonder who the lucky dog will be that gets first go.
  3. That's quite impressively unprofessional. Let's hope that tactic prompts many people to find other rescue groups to support. That page is gold. And still harping on about Pound List photos as well because they can't be bothered going in and getting their own. I've said it before...heavy handed bullying and attacks on a small group of women who put in time and effort for the dogs, not so one rescue-but-not-rescue can use the images to cyber beg. Why can they not take their own? This is one question that goes unanswered. re Insurance: All they have is an ABN and a NSW specific CFN. They aren't registered with ASIC so the individual members and particularly the clause holder are open to be sued the day a dog comes back to bite them. Which will happen. Because they certainly don't use due diligence, temp test or take heed of pound advice like a dog being impounded for poor temperament.
  4. This stinks. 1 dead dog, 1 questionable staffy x now in a BSL state, 1 traumatised carer. Awesome. And the cherry on top is a private rescue-but-not-rescue responsible for this mess comes out squeaky clean and getting more of a foothold "building a relationship" with council. Why? What for?
  5. oh dear fediie. Not a rescue again. Things are coming unravelled I swear. Bkossom78, if you were in NSW you'd be wrong on both the getting of private details from the C.A.R. and taking the animal home. I'm really glad it's worked out happily for everyone so far, you must have different regs in the ACT.
  6. can everyone see this direct link from FB? attached
  7. :rainbowbridge: Rest in peace sweetheart. All my love Baifra. xxx
  8. I'm so sorry baifra your heart must be broken. xxxx
  9. I'm on a city block with a very little grass bit and lots of concrete, was recently given one of those hoselinks hose heads super jet. It's great! Did a test run on my concrete: yard broom and kennel clean vs just the hose (water, no chemicals) and it beats it by miles. I can see squiqqles where it's blasted the dirt off my concrete! :) So it's perfect for pee stains, you'd never know it was there.
  10. OP. I think it's great that you're helping. There's definitely questions that people should ask. I do think though, that you could word it to put a bit of onus back on the seeker though. There's no use providing a list that they can copy and paste into an email without actually thinking about why they need to ask or if it is appropriate to the breed. Encourage breed research, clue them in on the magical teacups, extra money for blue coats, no-shedding promises (because no-shed doesn't mean no-groom lol). Have them ask themselves questions as well like do I have 15yrs to devote to this puppy...or the time to train them now...will this breed's needs be too much for me.....can I afford vet bills....are all the residents of home including 4legged ready for this pup... I guess I'm saying arm them with more than a list to send. :)
  11. As far as I know, what they voted on is here LINK. It did not propose desexing on reclaimed animals if that's what you mean by any animal, only those sold by the facility at the end of impound time. :)
  12. That third eyelid should go back into place once the inflammation is under control. I've never heard of them staying visible long after things have resolved. ....I was thinking, is there a chance that he's rubbed his face too hard after surgery and scratched the cornea? Vets have a flouro dye that shows up abrasions of the eye, did they try that just to rule it out? He will be fine given time, vet care and TLC :) you're just a worried dog-mum and I don't blame you. It's hard to see them sad.
  13. omg that just looks painful seriously why are we seeing tiny dogs that are so starved? They take nothing to feed.
  14. Exactly the same as me. I saw someone walking along Blaxland Road, Ryde at 8am one morning last week with a pitbull running along ahead of them. My thoughts were wondering what would happen if someone with another dog, let alone a small dog, came along the same path. If I saw that I would crap myself as I would be expecting the worst. With so many attacks I don't like to see any other dog coming towards me with no collar or other means of control. I'm not so worried about small dogs - it occasionally happens but generally it is larger dogs and my dogs have been attacked without provocation. Yes. I apparently own "yappy" "snappy" "anklebiters" but can't take them to Sydney Park for a nice walk because they get rushed or trampled by larger dogs who are exactly what people generalise my guys to be. Note, no predominant breed is mentioned for fear of being labelled a BSL supporter or breed hater which I am not. I just can't handle anymore close calls. People should be allowed to say they feel uncomfortable, that doesn't mean they are ignorant or media brainwashed. But this has been a very interesting thread and the rotty pics are lovely. :)
  15. Oh dear that's one hell of a brain snap. Would they investigate with a necropsy or just file it under 'Of course, it's a pit bull'? Interesting (or maybe just sadder) that there was onlookers but the dog singled out the owner. Not the kind of story the dogs of that state need right now.
  16. Definitely doesn't sound right. :-( Could they have missed a tooth abscess? Far enough back and right up in the root you can get goopy eye, swelling etc. I swear there's some kind of protocol for xrays that mean you might not be able to stay with him? There's a few vets on Dol so they will know. But in any case, just a light sedation would keep him still for a few minutes and be quite safe.
  17. I'm always anon. And an occasional 3am insomnia random thread reader which I find a bit embarrassing. Then there's the walking off mid-read and having your name sitting at the bottom of the thread for aaaages like you're studying it for exams.
  18. Wizard I was asking stuff not long ago. The worry is that you can find a dog, take the dog to a vet for scanning and that vet is apparently under no obligation to seize the dog. (I thought they were but apparently that's not the case) Clinics can apply to be an 'approved premises' under the Act so they can legally seize and hold strays until the ranger comes but many aren't. So pets are being sent home with people who find them and believe that taking them to the pound means they will certainly die. I'm so sorry about Sarge. Hope he comes home soon. edit: spelling
  19. I have an obvious favourite or two :p first one to guess wins a goldfish , and the rest are all pretty much equally lovely even if I would never own one. Definitely not adding a least favourite breed. Firstly, haven't met them all and secondly it's more likely to be actual individuals I don't gel with rather than a whole breed!
