  1. Just confirming for anyone interested in Ben's treatment at Blacktown, the simple and uncontroversial truth is: While impounded he was seen by a vet, he was given pain relief and he slept on a heat pad for warmth. Boring huh.
  2. Your concerns are of no concern to me :) Well they should be. Your login is a privilege not a right. There are only 3 multi user profiles on DOL. Shelter List, Rescue List and Blacktown List. Because Troy allows them to be here. Only a fool would risk their pound profile by posting nonsense smartarse comments, back peddling and getting into petty arguments. Blacktown List was suspended once before in the exact same situation. I hope that's crystal clear. It'll only take one person using the report button to bring attention to this.
  3. And yes, amusing that people are so quick to jump on Rocky's - like iron filings to a magnet, like a record stuck in a grove, the usual suspects come out to play, with the same old clap trap. Did it ever cross your mind that maybe the dog was bandaged before it came to Blacktown? The thread was not about bagging Blacktown Pound, or bagging the group that took Ben on. The wording they used to advertise his plight would not have been my choice, but bottom line is the dog required some assistance. If people would like to help, great. If they don't want to help, can't help, don't like the group - that's fine also - just move on and spare the rest of us the usual crap trap - I for one am over it. I'm not the one who said anything about Rocky's. Don't care who took the dog. I said the story was questionable so you can pull your head in right there with your creative writing about 'usual suspects' jumping on Rocky's. Want to know what else is amusing? Your complete over reaction. Just message Troy and request the thread be removed. You quoted me and asked me a question. If you didn't intend to include me as whoever the usual suspects are then leave me out of it.
  4. I can't take credit BC. I'm just the messenger. There's some very very determined people hunting for Eddie. :)
  5. I know, I was a bit excited to hear that. I should also have the poster coming through to add to this thread, there will be a FB page for him PLUS there's now an Eddie Hotline! Will add everything here when I get the details.
  6. :) Hi K. Not illegal per 16D or CA Act. However Blacktown, Renbury and Hawkesbury instituted individual agreements re desexing guarantee for any dog released entire to a rescue group. Failure to sign the agreement can lead to your termination as a group approved to release from there. I don't know what disciplinary action is taken if you rehome an undesexed dog but stat decs can easily be done saying the dog is unfit or already desexed. You'd also have to give any group the benefit of doubt that they have already thought of these conditions. Adoptive homes can actually be a 'foster to adopt' situation where the dog is not technically available for adoption and not yet signed over until desexing takes place. :) Hope that helps.
  7. There's a chance the Maitland Mercury might run a story on Eddie! Fingers crossed.

  9. Odd. And yes, amusing that people are so quick to believe. Of course the place isn't perfect and has screwed up before, but this scenario makes no sense. A dog who received no care bandaged himself with quite a professional looking sling. Then he sat in a pound as large as blacktown with full time staff, volunteers, vet help not to mention the browsing public ready to report anything iffy to the RSPCA... he suffered unnoticed for 2 weeks in full view and nobody said a thing. So because NO other rescue wanted him. Not one in all of Sydney or further. The pound was forced to let this dog they had neglected, go into the care of a rescue who by their own claim had neither the funds or the room to look after him. Makes a lot of sense.
  10. Firstly go to the doctor! You'll need antibiotics asap and possibly a tetanus update. Then you'll also have a report to prove you were bitten and stating the extent of the injuries. It's not as simple as rangers grabbing the dog for euthanasia as far as I know so you haven't instantly condemned the dog by reporting it. There's a process, in the end they may face fines, a dangerous dog declaration and enforcement of fencing or containment. That's my understanding of the setup in NSW, not sure about VIC. Follow it through. If they have a biter out wandering it really needs sorting for it's own safety and that of the public. Hope you feel better soon.
  11. Thanks BC. :) I was too busy to catch up on Eddie details today but would have definitely gotten a message if he'd come home.
  12. Why are people so keen to believe the pound actually did this?
  13. If Mac is the main suspect, maybe it might be as simple as a meds adjustment. :) I've not had males on stilbestrol so if you get a chance I'd love to know how it worked for you and Mac. Rosetta, we have the spy cam LOL, very comforting to see snoring bodies when you're out. Not so good when someone is barking like the world is ending! Great for catching secret piddlers. :D
  14. Soda water, or baking soda and vinegar is the wetter way of drawing pee out of carpet and fabrics, but might be worth just doing a test patch first. Is there noticeably more drinking going on? Diabetes triggers thirst but also sudden weight loss. Cushings increases thirst but also a little pot belly. UTI, or bladder infections causes sudden need to pee no matter how full the bladder is. Be careful with belly bands on a UTI dog, a wet pad can aggravate things. And if this continues I'd have a kidney function test done too. Sounds like a long list sorry just going through my warning signs for when we get random pees from an otherwise reliable older dog. Of course there is always the chance that twinkle toes prefers going inside now! Basically that means retraining to use a mat and then gradually move the mat outside with lots of reward for a job well done. :)
  15. Sad isn't it Apparently one lady saw him although had zero time to get a photo because she pulled up, turned around on the highway and tried to get him to come to her. He ran away from the road and away back into a paddock scrub. His DRN carer is putting an ad in the next newspaper and his photo is still being circulated widely on FB. I can only hope the sighting was definitely Eddie and that he is heading home with enough sense to stay out of traffic. His family will go back to his farm and drive through the backroads and remote towns hoping that he's on his way. Poor Eddie. I would have loved to take him on as an SSR dog, he's so sweet and he'd be fine with my littlies but moving a still active farm dog to Newtown would have been selfish of me.
  16. I know. It doesn't sound good. Those towns are on the way home to Taree, up the highway unfortunately. He's such a good boy. DRN found him a lovely carer with a female cattle dog and took him on at short notice as the family struggled to come to terms with his Mum's drastic downturn. I just can't believe how wrong everything has gone. Poor Eddie.
  17. We're moved! Thanks Troy. I really appreciate your support BC. Thank you so much. xxx
  18. No don't be sorry! Lost and Found is very quiet so I was just thinking General would be better? I've messaged Troy to see if it's OK I put him here because he's a foster but it was probably not the cleverest place.
  19. Possible sightings at Nabiac and Buladehlah! Hard to confirm 100% but it's better than nothing!
  20. I lived a 45 minute drive from Detroit and I have to say it was the shock of my life to visit that city particularly at night. Picture Sydney City smashed and abandoned. They probably will cull. But I doubt they even have the money to buy the bullets.
  21. Nothing. Not even a possible sighting as far as I know. eta I might ask for this to be moved to General so more people spot it and it doesn't clog up the rescue section. xx
  22. Thank you BC. I'll look up things where the farmers or rural folk might visit. And I think the carer needs help with letter boxing and signs but will have to check. Maybe someone on DOL lives near her.
