Cruciate Ligament Repair
kelpiecuddles replied to persephone's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I thought the article said he was in with cows at the time Here it says: which one would assume would mean he was in a paddock with the ladies at the time. -
Cruciate Ligament Repair
kelpiecuddles replied to persephone's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I think if he's in a paddock with a bunch of girls it's probably pretty reasonable that he may of twisted his leg awkwardly while on the job. Plenty of ways you can do a cruciate without it having a genetic factor at play. -
Yep LOL I"m torn between trying to explain to her that his legs won't shrink or letting her work it out for herself, she still maintains they go through a 'leggy' stage  What's worse is she paid top dollar for these things as munchkins but when she brought them home at 8 weeks I could have told you they weren't, they looked just like they do now only smaller, their legs are so long they are almost anti-munchkins :D

Cruciate Ligament Repair

I've said this elsewhere but I'll say it here too. The price might seem cheap but it was undertaking at Melbourne University Vet and was essentially an experimental procedure so would have been good advertising for them, would have most likely been used as a teaching opportunity(and would have been recorded for future teaching) and may even be written up by one of the vets there for submission as a discussion of the technique for a journal or similiar. I'd strongly suspect that this procedure was HEAVILY discounted. -

This Dog Is Not Allowed On The Bed
kelpiecuddles replied to HollyMilo's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't think anyone was giving instructions, I think he's been growled at before by someone walking through the door and finding him up there so he was pausing to listen to see if anyone was coming! -
He can come and live with us as long as he stops pooing in my garden! (wouldn't be a problem if he was living with us anyway because he'd be an indoor cat ;) ) I'm actually going to be really sad when he inevitable gets hit by a car like all their cats do, we are literally on the Princes Hwy. (If I lived there currently I might have encouraged him to move in to my orchard and be a mouser LOL

I was trying to find a photo to share of my neighbours (not)'munchkins' but could only find this video. I did contemplate giving it a thread of it's own but thought, hey may this thread needs some lightening up LOL. As you can see his legs will need to do some shrinking if he's to turn in to a munchkin any time soon... He's a little in love with my daughter :p (Click the picture)

Just saw an ad for a show on Gem on Tuesday called Super Tiny Animals featuring the mini versions of lots of animals but looks like 'teacup' puppies feature pretty prominently. So if you are a breeder of chis or the other breeds that cop this crap be prepared for a bunch of annoying phone calls/emails!

A Random Question For Breeders
kelpiecuddles replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sorry I didn't mean ask questions of everyone regarding this particular breeder I just meant ask general questions about lines, etc of everyone to decide who I want to consider more seriously to put my name down with for a pup. -
A Random Question For Breeders
kelpiecuddles replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
Ruralpug I must admit I have fears it is that they take issue with the other breeders dogs, although so far I haven't been able to determine what that reason may be. It's one of those sticky situations where you can't work out where the gossip ends and the truth starts. Think I'll just have to wade through it as best i can and ask questions of everyone I can and hope the truth becomes easier to see. -
No promises Keeta but i've sent my aunt a message for you, she's heavily involved in animal rights issues and if she can I'm sure she will help. She's recently had surgery so doubt she could do it herself but know someone trustworthy who can help you.

Jumabaar I think to some extent you are tryng to close the gate after the horse has bolted. What you are suggesting is a widespread change in attitude and behaviour and that's never going to happen fast sadly. Here I think we are preaching to the converted, it's unlikely to be the people on this site who are the cause of unwanted backyard litters. In terms of why it's different in Europe I think a lot more people there are 'forced' to keep their pet dogs(as opposed to working dogs who may sleep in a barn etc) as indoor pets for climate reasons, so it follows that people are more inclined to raise their animals to be well mannered indoor suitable dogs. Here it colds but most of the time our weather is mild enough that with a decent kennel or somewhere to get out of the weather a dog survives OK outside so people buy a yard ornament and expect it to train itself and are surprised when it has no house manners!

Oh PFL I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your lovely baby. We lost our last kitty under almost identical circumstances and it was a scary and sudden way to lose a beloved critter so be kind to yourself and I hope the vet can give you some idea of what happened if only for closure.

A Random Question For Breeders
kelpiecuddles replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
Well they are pretty reserved people so I think just the fact that they told me they don't like them probably indicates a fair bit LOL -
A Random Question For Breeders
kelpiecuddles replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
I guess I'll mostly be nervous if in the end I do decide to go with the breeder they dislike as they are currently who i am leaning towards. I think they are both excellent breeders but really hoping it doesn't get weird. -

Yes more towards the second Rainy I guess but mostly just a shared love of the breed type friendship. -
A Random Question For Breeders

Yes I'm quietly hoping my breeder friend decides not to breed for a while so that when i am looking they aren't likely to have anything LOL -
A Random Question For Breeders
kelpiecuddles replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
Both breed excellent dogs so it's not a question of which dogs are better, they are just different styles and would probably appeal to different judges for different reasons if you know what I mean. I'm more concerned with how best to broach this issue without insulting people.
