Pregnant Dog In Need Sth Coast Nsw

Naw that's lovely Nina, did you see the photo I posted on the previous page? Apparantly their other dog is the father, he is arab cross mastiff but apparently just under knee height, going from the dodgy photo that I can half see him in I'd say he may have some staffy in him although he's only 7 months so more growing to go yet. -
A titre test is as good as a vax if it returns a result of good immunity don't forget :)

They have another dog as well that they are trying to rehome. I've given them some advice on the best way to rehome him and hoping they will be able to rehome him themselves, if he is friendly at least the pound here are nice people and won't euth him so he probably doesn't warrant taking up another place in rescue if you know what I mean. The female was a little more at risk due to being pregnant and the sort of people who were clearly asking after her just for a quick buck. -

Thanks for the offer of help with vaccs but I think it's best to wait since she is pregnant. I'm trying to find out when she was last done, as long as it's within the last couple of years I'd be fairly happy she'd still likely have reasonable immunity. ETA: Just got a message to say she's recently been wormed and is due for her next vaccination in a months time at one year of age. Poor girl's only a baby herself At least she's had the necessary prevention done for parasites and diseases even if they did drop the ball on the desexing! -
Plus when you sit on a seat for long periods it puts pressure on areas that aren't designed to have pressure for long periods, at least in a crate the dog can change position to some extent and is lying down in a position they would naturally be in for longer periods such as sleeping.

Personally I doubt reporting it would make any difference. My mum's dog that was killed was offlead but under control in a designated offlead area. The dog that killed her was on an extendable lead and not under effective control but the way the council saw it was he was on lead and mum's was off so even though her dog was under more effective control than his he was cleared of any fault. Mum's dog didn't approach or even acknowledge the large dog, they were simply passing about 4 metres away from each other and the large dog lunged out and grabbed her.

I know the family through my children's school, they are nice enough people but not very responsible if you know what I mean. I'm so glad to know she isn't going to some of the other people that asked about her, I know a few of them through my work at the pet shop and even the pet shop tries to not sell to them LOL -
Diatomaceous Earth For Flea Control

Is it any good for ticks? Was thinking of sprinkling it in the garden beds at our property before we move there to try to reduce parasite numbers. -

Thanks so much for your offer Sheree, given that we have now had an offer from someone who doesn't have another pregnant bitch to worry about I think that will work better. She looks healthy but I doubt she has had much in the way of vacs and wouldn't want any risk to your girl. -

Well it sounds like she's keen and Nina has said she can take her without there being the issue of compromising another pregnant bitch, does this work well for everyone? I'm going to hopefully get my hands on her tomorrow if I can and find out what her status is as far as vacs, chips, etc. I know of this family and I suspect she hasn't had much done but since she is only young maybe she had some puppy vacs she is still fairly covered by. -

OK great, sounds like regardless someone will be able to have her, I'll let the lady know that i'll take her and we'll work things out from there :) -
Sth Coast Nsw People Fun With Furries

Basically teaching a dog to follow their nose to find a target over increasing distances. As the dog gets better you can also increase the age of the scent to make it harder -

I don't believe so. I will take her but need to pass her in elsewhere within two weeks(before pups are born) -
My mum's dog was killed by a poorly controlled large breed dog on an extendable lead Definitely a good idea to stay away

Flying Dogs East To West Coast Costs?
kelpiecuddles replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
Anyone transported in summer and have any feedback? My main concern is that it would likely be early February so might be quite hot. -

Yes, I believe so. At the moment I think the only person asking about her is a known hoarder/backyard breeder -

I think she's looking at regular evening type classes for things like rally-o, etc, sounds like tracking would be a workshop type event so maybe a whole day or weekend -

No probs, I'll add you to the maybes :) I believe she has some well regarded trainers on board and the idea is to try to bring some fun activities down to the little folks who always miss out because we are too far from the big cities :) -
Flying Dogs East To West Coast Costs?
kelpiecuddles replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh wow, that's alright, I was expecting more than that! I told my hubby it might be $2-300 each(it's always good to overestimate with him so he doesn't get surprised ;) ) and he said, "See, that's OK, not too expensive." It was about his less cheapskatey moment in his entire life  -
Anyone flown medium -large dogs recently and got an idea of the costs? Sascha is 17kg and Josie is 23kg. My husband has just suggested a cross country expedition and when I said 'what about the dogs?" his response was"Well, we'll just fly them over and they can come with us"

crap, the local 'backyard breeder' is now asking about her I'd gladly just take her but I can't risk being stuck with her if no one else is able to assist. Can temp care for a couple of weeks though
