  1. So sorry for your loss. I am sure her days with you were the best days of her life. Run free.
  2. It's raining pretty steadily here. Gomez and Maverick were bathed last Sat and while they smell okay, there is a hint of the beginnings of doggie smell. I don;t want to bathe them today, being so wet and cold. So I did buy (earlier) a Pet parfum by I love my pet. It contains carrot seed oil and essential oils - patchouli and bergamont Are there any other hints or tips out there to 'refresh' doggies in between grooming baths? Sorry if this has been asked 1000 times! Thanks in advance
  3. Just got some great leads from Layka and it supports friends of the hound. Lupin leads- very good for the doggie and the handler
  4. RIP boy, and all your mates. So very sad, all teary for you babes.
  5. ant bite? That's interesting, I would not have thought of that, but they do have a pesky lil bite. Could be? I was wondering, sometimes poodles are prone to their legs 'popping' in and out of the joints (please feel free to correct me experts, I am only going by past experiences with -poodles- dogs as a child). But the ant things sounds like good detectve work, too. Maybe it's that. would explain why the vet didn't pick up on it.
  6. So sorry, Boxagirl. He will be missed, I am certain. What a lovely photo of him, too. RIP Barkley.
  7. Ooh, ooh, I think I hear you right, Shmoo. In one week you can foster more doggies cuz you'll have so much time. Ahh, seriously, hope you find something that pays heaps and has little stress!
  8. The general public just don't know. Really, after I found DOL and asked all the 'dumb' questions, I began to see things in a clearer picture. I originally thought the 'spoodle' was cute, but couldn't figure out why they all looked different. I did think they were a new 'breed' and even looked up some website that had a whole bunch of mixes, one being the 'spoodle'. They also explained the F1 and F2 thing, but I just kept thinking, there's no guarantee how they'll look. So I started asking a lot of questions on DOL. I am sure I was thought to be a troll or a stalker cuz I kept on asking 'dumb' questions and asking the same people things, even PMing them. In actual fact all of my 'dumb' questions got me to some spectacular answers (some rude, but most not). Anyway, your clien is just one of the general public trying to work it all out. Tell her to get on DOL.
  9. RIP Kyra. Take care, thinking of you.
  10. You didn't let her down. You took care of her pain. It's just hard losing your best friend. RIP Tessie.

RIP Dave. Thinking of you Rozzie and Mr Rozzie.
  12. Gee, we sound a lot alike in our thinking. I also always think of all the dogs that live in apts in NYC and in Europe. Because property is so expensive here, people and families are living in apts and pets are a part of families. Neighbours who have not coped with pets in apt buildings before will have to accept this, eventually. Look, if you have thought it through and you know this is what you want to do, then do it. Two years could turn into 5 yrs or only be 1 1/2 yrs. In the meantime, you have gone about this correctly, you have sought approval and you're asking a lot of the questions to many of the right people. Sounds to me like you are already a responsible dog owner.
  13. Hi Curious, I was in this same quandrum a while back. Was looking into getting a dog and came on here asking questions about dogs in apartments, particular breeds, barking, etc. We own our apt and also have approval. I heard all of the good points and the bad points. I heard that greys were good, and having met greys, I tend to think that they are a good dog, no make that a GREAT dog. I think you really need to think it through. Do you plan to stay in your apt for a while? If there are problems where do you 'sit' about rehoming the dog, if you need to? My personal decision was to hold off and not get a dog. But that was my decision, everyone has their own decision's to make.
  14. I know you are probably sick of it, but I have to say the owner should get a bit of credit for coming to a reputable groomer and listening to your words of advice. Since you were so accomodating hopefully the owner will return and keep the dog in check with its coat. I certaimly would because you took the time to talk to me and tell me how to do things instea of being judgemental and belittling. The matts can be very frustrating, especially when the change of coats (summer and winter) happens. At least she was smart enough to come to you. Otherwise the dog could have ended up looking like all those miserable matted rescue dogs we see all too often. Good on you for helping the dog and the owner Shmoo!
  15. RIP Lucky. You certainly are beautiful.
