  1. Ah La Carte Cat Poo....Yummmmmmmmm. at my place......I have three cats and its a fight to see who gets to the litter tray first. That's why I always use the recycled paper litter.
  2. Hi, It so much easier to treat the dog once a month. When the monthly treatment came out many of us would not use it. We love our dogs and where not prepared to put some poison thing in their systems that would last a month. We weren't told how it worked. Once we were given the correct information, no more daily pills. We are in fact, almost doing what you said. Only we are doing it monthly. Instead of giving a small dose of poison every day (that's what we were doing with daily tablets) we now give one dose monthly. This kills off any heart worm very quickly and is out of the system just as quickly. Then a month later we repeat the procedure. Every month the heart worm grows larger (if the dog is infected) and becomes more difficult to remove it. As baby puppies don't need to be on heart worm treatment till six months of age, I would say some people are relying on this as a table of growth for the heart worm. Their fore relying on the single dose to eradicate it.
  3. My usual vet is AWL vet clinic. They advise annual vaccinations though and this would be the first time they will do the titer test. I want to do the titer test for my 2yo and vaccinate my 1yo (still haven't decided if it will be C3 or C5). You could split the difference and do a C4
  4. I really appreciate it Yes......He is excellant.
  5. I have had a friend contact the lab in Brisbane. This is what they were told. We used to do it, but the kits were not reliable enough. We now send the tests to the USA on the first Friday of the month and they are back in approximately two weeks. The test costs $90.
  6. My dogs can be bathed twice a week if we have been showing on red soil. Bathed Friday night and shown and then have to be bathed Saturday night to be shown Sunday. Lots of owners have to do this. I can assure that we don't have any problems with them being flakey. I would change to a top quality shampoo and conditioner. I would also do the last rinse with clean warm water.
  7. I will speak to the Vet at Rosewood this Friday and see what he has to say. This is the vet that can't stand designer dog breeders. He breeds Goldens. LOL
  8. The whole problem is thats vets want you to vaccinate. I will see if I can get you the phone number for the lab and you can have a talk with them. If we all start to make inquiries they may just start to do the test here.
  9. Hi, I rang Yamanto so they should be prepared if want to give them a call. I asked about sending it to their lab to see if that lab would send it on.
  10. I would be cutting back the bone in the diet. Also check that the anal glands are working correctly. The anal glands usually coat the poo so they don't have to strain so hard.
  11. Ooopppppssss sorry never thought to look. My apologies.
  12. The vets at the Uni wouldn't know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They want people to vaccinate every year and get their money. The tests are done in Aust. in WA. You could always try Tim Rush at Yamanto Vet Surgery on 3288 0466. Explain he only has to draw the blood. He may only have to send it to his normal lab and they send it onto WA for titre testing for anti bodies, if thats what your testing for.
  13. An Aussie what???????? Terrier?????? Shepherd???????
  14. Tess to clarify to do you mean vaccs every 3 years or the vacc that is the equiv of 3 years worth - ie a dose 3 times stronger than just one year and lasts 3 years? Hi, The three year vac. is exactly the same as the one you got yearly. It has been re packaged as three yearly. This is to pacify the vets who lose out on money with the yearly Vac. Their is no such thing as a Vac with three times the dose. (Not unless you load three vac into one syringe).
  15. They are dead within minutes. Depending in what the 1080 is put in. Always be careful if 1080 is about because I know of some dogs that were killed with 1080 that had not been out of their owners yard. Birds pick up the baits and sometimes drop them in any body's yard. People usually think that somebody delibritly bated their dogs. When it is usually a case of pure bad luck.
  16. More vaccine suppresses the immune system, it does not enhance it. If you had one die in your arms ;) because of over vaccination had suppressed the immune system, you would all understand a lot better.
  17. Dr Jean Dodds is one of the worlds foremost persons on vaccination. I wish I could attend her lectures but as she is not coming to Brisbane I will miss out on a lot of learning.
  18. I suggest that you all read this article again CAREFULLY. The was done in Aust and nowhere does it suggest rabies. These are about core and non core vaccines.
  19. I also totally agree. I had my dogs on Purina Proplan breeders bags and they had lots of bags and just didn't do well on it. I also had to feed minced chicken with it to keep weight on them, and I assure you they were given more than enough. I took them off it and put them on Purina Bonny and they thrived.
  20. Hi, This dog needs a vet straight away. I would be having full blood panels done, the works. Sounds as if the dog may have an internal problem. I would also put him on his own. Good Luck
  21. I wondering if they should call the dog Horse. :D
  22. Rimadyl has killed more dogs than Metacam ever will. If 50ml Metacam was injected, the dog would not have made it out of the surgery. Eye ulcers can become a serious matter. Make sure the dog is kept in the dark and has no wind from fans or air conditioners that could blow onto the dog, that could effect the eye. Agree about the eye ulcer. Do you have statistics you can direct us to that show more dogs have died from Rimadyl than will ever die from Metacam.....though how they would know what will happen in the future is a bit of a mystery. Facts are derived from what has happened not what might happen. It was an American site. Boy did they blast Rimadyl. Talking about Rimadyl being taken of the market because of the dog deaths from it where huge. Sorry, never saved the site as I already new about the side effects of Rimadyl.

  24. The only thing I can suggest is bones. Would this cause a problem for him with his age, or is one of those I don't chew bones thank you.. Perhaps chicken frames might help.
  25. Geeezus!!!! Perhaps they have put her back out & pinched a nerve from manouvering her on the table while under??????? I fully agree with you. I would think that something has happened to her. Doubt that you will ever find out what.
