  1. Please do not waste my time, I am not interested in your dogs slipped disc, it is probably from poor breeding/construction :p , I only mean to inform those who are Vet brain washed & actually care about their animals, to search for themselves & understand what they are doing, if you feel your own dogs health is not compromised, then knock yourself out just keep jabbing them............BTW the vaccination that is given 3 yearly is no revelation, it is the "compromise" vaccine from the Drug company to shut everyone up from sueing them for false advertising from all these years of insisting of uneccessary Yearly vaccinating, the 3 yearly vaccine is EXACTLY what you have always given your dogs annually!!!!!!!! There is no rocket science in what your new Vet has told you...........Do some reading, it is all there for you, your Vet is no expert in immunology they are a sheep following what drug companies tell them they must do for insurance reasons.......... I agree with cavandra. I assure all reading this thread, that was has been told is true. I am quite happy for you all to spend your hard earned money at the vets on vacinations but I do feel for your pets. I know many of you like me have been brought up on the traditional yearly vacination, but it is not necessary. I think it is time we drew breath and gave this more thought. Remember........we thought the earth was flat once. sorry for the spelling but spell check just died.
  2. Hi, No, smoked bones are dangerous. You could always try Turkey Necks. I feed my dogs these and have no problems. If you are still concerned, stick with the good old brisket bones.
  3. Why would anyone want to vaccinate a dog that's already vaccinated is beyond me. When dog are vaccinated yearly it does not enhance the immune system it actually depresses it.
  4. Bet you will be looking for another one next. Nothing nicer than a Grey or Whip.

    Yep, they sure are.
  6. Crickies then I can't be of any more help. Maybe just do as the vet says. I sure feel for you, I wouldn't want to be in your situation. Good luck and keep us all posted as to the out come.
  7. Thank goodness that there's no wascally wabbits in Qld. or my lot would never be home. Only hares up here. Where do they live and hide, out in the front garden. Just don't have the heart to let the dog's lose out the front. There's a lot of barb wire fences out there, knowing my luck the hares would run away and the dog's would impale themselves.
  8. The best advice I can give, is change your vet.
  9. The Brits have been using Metho for years and swear by it. One good thing about it that it does not stay wet in the ear. It evaporates quite quickly.

I went to Bunnings Bundamba/Booval (QLD) last Saturday and purchased 4 single units. Still had some left in stock.
  11. cavNrott - Spelling has never came easy to me. oakway-I followed my vets advice. Let her have her first season then have her spayed no sooner than 2 months after her first season. Pixie was booked in to be spayed in August. This happened and she's been spayed a couple of weeks earlier, albeit a more expensive "spaying" than planned. I still have no reason to question the advice I was given. As Miranda said - I was just unlucky to experience this as it is more associated with older bitches. Tryamartimmy - I sure have had a close call. I'm so glad I went with my gut instincts and didn't put off getting to the Vet with her. Hi, I wasn't having a shot at you. I have followed your entire storey. I saw what the vet told you. You can be just plain unlucky. If I wasn't in the situation I am in (breeder) I suppose I would have done what the vet said to do. When I said spey before they come in season, I was usuing your story as an example of what could happen. No matter weather it's in English pounds or Aust. dollars that's still a large ammount of money to pay out. I am sure their are many out there that know and share your feelings. Anyway, the Pixie is home and by your description is well on the mend and that's all that matters.

  13. Simply and plainly an uterus full of pus from an infection. Spey your bitches before they come in season.
  14. Salmonella... what do you mean. Dog eat putrefied meat. Come and have a look at the country dogs pinching dead carcases of the road. Yes been their for days in a hot Queensland summer. Road kill, yum, mums not looking. edited cause I carn't spell
  15. Why don't you do what the rest of us do. Stick your hand in, and if too bl&%dy hot don't put it on the dog.
  16. I can't give any better advise than Poodle wrangler has given you. I also use a grinder to do the dogs nails. I do clip the babies nails at approximately 2 weeks and from then on, when ever they need it.
  17. Was it just a bush tick or a paralysis tick?.
  18. Yep, sure are good. Would not be with out Turkey Necks. Never tried the Turkey Butt's. Must be adventuress and give them a try to.
  19. I put Feramo Greyhound on my dogs chicken mince. They also have a small quantity of dry food.
  20. The only known problem with this brand was with several batches of Puppy Rehydratable well over a year ago. I and several other breeders known to me had problems with consistently pooey puppies and the only thing we found in common was the feed. When taken off the biscuit the scours vanished. Put back on, the same problem. Whatever the problem was, it has been fixed as the most recent litters were absolutely fine. Must agree with you on this. Never had the problem before this batch or after. Other than that, an all round excellent product.
  21. Hahaha! Yeah! They do look like that don't they? We spent yesterday morning cutting them into pieces with a bandsaw and an axe!!! Yeah....know what you mean....had some friends see them and the words were not complimentry.
  22. Not in the truest sense of the word. Kibble was ORIGINALLY a specific type of dry food. In older times it was largely bread soaked in milk and baked and fed as a filler. It has progressed somewhat since then. There are a range of Box One foods which include a kibble. This resembles no dry food I've ever fed but is commonly purchased in bulk by greyhound racing people I'm told. We used to feed that and Meat Bits at a major sighthound kennel at which I worked some years ago. Correct ellz seems as though you are the only who knows what I am talking about. Kibble is the name given to to dog food of the lowest form. It was the very first type of dog food available in Aust. well over 40 years ago.(That must tell you I have been dogs a long time) It was made for Greyhounds. That is how Aust found out about dry foods. Then came the term feeding the American way. Then came the dry foods. Until today when we have the super premium dry foods.
  23. Hi, Just thought I would warn you...Rimdyl....... has caused more trouble in dogs than enough. I have been told that some people in the USA are trying to have it removed from veterinary services. I am constantly reading of warnings about NOT using this product on overseas lists. I did have some sites to go to back up what has been said about Rimdyl, but as usual I don't remember where I put them. Please everyone do be careful over this product. edited because I carn't spell
