Thanks everyone :) We are doing well. She is in a better place, now.

Hugs Rubystar xx I know what you are going through right now.

I think we should have banned August from ever happening in 2011

I picked Lara up today and she rode on the front seat home.....more tears......

We are getting her cremated, too. Looking for a memorial plaque online, so if anybody has seen any nice ones around, I'd love a link, thanks.

And yep, I wouldn't mind erasing August 2011 too. Too much loss (and I could easily have skipped turning 30 eek1.gif)

So sorry to hear about Chloe RS, too many good dogs taken lately . Hugs to you and your family at this sad time, she was a lucky girl to end up with such a special family and she must have known that too, to have reached such an awesome age. RIP little Chloe. The pain we feel at their passing can not negaite the years of joy they bring us while their here, I hope you find a little comfort in this poem.

LEND ME A PUP

I will lend to you for a while, a puppy God said,

For you to love while she lives and mourn when she's dead.

Maybe for twelve or fourteen years, or maybe two or three,

But will you, until I call her back, take care of her for me?

She'll bring her charms to gladden you and should her stay be brief

You'll always have her memories as solace for your grief.

I cannot promise she will stay, since all from earth return,

But there are lessons taught below I want this pup to learn.

I've looked the whole world over in search of teachers true,

And from the folk that crowd life's land I have chosen you.

Now will you give her all your love, not think the labor vain,

Nor hate me when I come to take my puppy home again.

And my heart replied “Dear Lord Thy Will be Done”

For all the joys this pup will bring,

The risk of grief we'll run.

We will shelter her with tenderness; we'll love her while we may,

And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay.

But should you call her, much sooner than we've planned,

We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try and understand.

If, by our love, we've managed, your wishes to achieve

In memory of her sweet, sweet love, please help us while we grieve.

And when this cherished puppy departs this world of strife,

Please send another needing soul to love for all her life

This is my favorite....

We little knew the day that God

was going to call your name.

In life we loved you dearly,

in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you.

You did not go alone,

For part of us went with you

The day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories.

Your love is still our guide,

And though we cannot see you

You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken

and nothing seems the same,

but as God calls us one by one

the chain will link again.

Thanks for posting the poems, ozjen and Mas, they are very sweet :)

I can't read the rainbow bridge one without getting teary.

I just want to say how impressed I am with Kenwick Vet Hospital. They were very caring and did not rush us at all. The vet was lovely throughout the entire trip and whispered nice things to Chloe as she sent her on her way, as mum and I were too much of a balling mess to say much (the most I could do was stroke her head and tell her I loved her).

So I think I have found my new vet clinic for routine things. My "usual" local one change their vets more often than I change my underwear (and I shower at least once a week I swear ;)) and are very impersonal.

Really!? I left kenwick vet - the vet told me kyzer had a spinal problem and would need surgery and referred me to a specialist (I was devastated understandably), without even physically examining him... Specialist said he was a perfectly sound dog, turned out he was just eating bits of polar fleece from tug toys... I wasn't very impressed with them ad spent a lot of money to find out my dog was fine, but glad they were good to you and your mum and Chloe at such a hard time.

Ouch, sorry you had a bad time with them. I think for anything serious, I will go to Applecross vet, but routine stuff might try up there. We had a good experience (as good as you can get under the circumstances) because there was no "investigation" needed, they were compassionate and it impressed us.

And you can't get any worse than the vet most of us know I am referring to. Won't go to them again. We called them first and they said they could only fit us in at 1.30, 2 and a half hours after the phone call. Didn't matter that Chloe was in pain and needed her suffering to end.....

I don't like applecross vet either :o:laugh:

My mum had our old dog PTS at railway ave vet I am pretty sure, she said they were great, took her card details when she made the consult so she wouldn't have to go to the counter and pay at the time, and were very compassionate and non judgemental and let them take all the time they needed. And my mum is from the country and wasn't a client there already.
