Nail Clippers, How Do Dthese Work?

I've only ever used the scissor type clippers but OH has just pulled two pairs out of the cupboard like this

You squeeze them and the blade comes up and would I presume cut the nail. However I'm not sure how to use them

Which way do i put them on the nail and how do I know how much to take off? I've never seen clippers like this and I'm worried I will stuff it up! I don't really want to leave them another two weeks until we go to the vets.

the amount you take off is the same amount you would with the scissor style clippers - so just itty bitty bits each time if you aren't confident

these ones I would use with the blade coming up on the underside of the nail

just have some cornflour or a bar of soap handy incase you nick one

My advice put them back in the cupboard.They crush the nails & the dogs generally hate them

I've always used those ones but when I got Abby I as given a set of the scissor type. Must admit I find them easier to use but Mickey has a fit if I try to use them on him so I use the original type.

I found the scissor type crushes/pinches the nails and my dogs hated them AS WELL AS the guillotine style. I bought a pair of Smart Trimmers which are slightly better and I don't have to fight my dogs quite so much.

My preference is to get someone else to do it LOL

Moose and I stress each other out I get the vet nurses to do it or take him to the groomers when Zoe gets a haircut and they do it for me.

I totally agree. Personally I'd thow them in the bin.

They're ok if sharp but do blunt quickly. I use a rotary grinder now except on very small puppies and then I use human nail clippers.
