I think that this is a great idea

I think I'll do one for dog and handler, and one for a soldier.

Not that I don't trust you mackenzie11 but do you have the link? I would like to send it onto some other people I know and might also send it around work and someone is bound to ask.

Thanks

Brilliant idea!

How many dogs are actually on a tour of duty though? I mean if 100 parcels were sent and there's only 20 dogs .....

don't know how many dogs there are, but i was told that if more are sent than needed then they will be handed out to service personel or dogs from another country, BUT they would only do that once all our troops and dogs got a parcle each.

Yep, that is a wonderful idea and I'm going to spread the word through my workplace to do something as well. They will only send to the soldiers as I figure us DOLers will cover the dogs.

This is a practical way of showing our support. I for one have no real idea of how hard it is for them over there and what they do without.

M&Ms post okay, and I'm told the chocolate available in the MEast is horrible.

it does say not to send chocolate as it is too hot and they will melt,

i know m&m's are not supposed to melt but it does get really hot over there and they may turn to mush, so unless you know specifically that they will be ok it is probly not best to send them,

i wanted to send some chocolate as i thought it would be one luxury that they would not get, and some tim tams, choc coated lollies but with the heat was advised against it

this is exactly what i thought, our troops are doing it so hard, and the things we take for granted each day they are missing out on, it is wonderful that so many people here are going to send something across, i have bought moist wipes, dental floss, anzac biscuits, lollies, lip balm, creamy rice & spoons, puzzles books, dog biscuits, tug toy, just to name some stuff, got enough for 3 boxes, loads of little snack stuff that does not weight much, this way they get heaps in the 2 kg weight limit, 1 EDD, 1 male and 1 female soldier

thanks
