Help Needed Urgently

First thoughts would be 1) hydrocortisone cream but it cannot just be given out without a vets ok and cortisone can retard healing also.

2) would be Meloxicam to aid if in pain but once again requires a vets ok.

If no vet was available neither of these could be dispensed.

Nurses and receptionists are not able to just give out these medications without authority.

3) try another vet if the dog is still unsettled.

There's a few things...he may be allergic to

sutures or may need additional pain relief....another vet may be a good idea.

I would go to another vet, too. After all, when I am in pain, I get pain relief...

Glad to hear he is feeling a little better. The spray should help a lot. I find the boy sighthounds are .....welll............girls blouses!!!!

Clipper rash is a bugger, hopefully the neocort applied to that but not on the wound will also help him feel a lot better.

Goodluck!

His skin is really raw from the shaving - the stitches look fine. It's just the surrounding area and I think the swelling is exacerbating the effect.

I haven't heard from Daisy so am crossing my fingers that means he has settled a little. He did seem tired when he left here too - I think it's still a big mental exercise for this boy to get out and socialise, after having had a one backyard sort of a life. So hopefully the mental stimulation will tucker him out and stop him worrying so much about his rashy spots!

The more he thinks about it the more he thinks about it, and so on, and so on...

He is more settled, still not very happy but not as distressed as he was this morning. I think that going to visit Alyosha and her mob was a good idea, it did take his mind off the itch and tire him out a bit, and the neocorte she put on the rash did seem to help too. I had to work this evening and have just come home, while he is still looking very sorry for himself he is much calmer thank goodness. I really do feel sorry for him, he has had such a rough trot, I hope he starts feeling better very soon.

Curash powder is really good for rashes - available in the baby section of the supermarket.

Oh - forgot to add that once it starts to prickle up/dry out, pawpaw ointment and then the bitter spray over the top... in fact, perhaps the antiseptic/anaesthetic spray before the pawpaw and the and the bitter spray...?

Dying to see pics of him, if that is allowed? :)

Really, Alyosha  - time for you to designate one of your kiddies as the photographer in charge of remembering to charge batteries + actually get the camera out... or to remind you to charge the batteries and actually get the camera out!!!
