Poppy went herding yesterday too. Gone are the days of having the sheep stuck in the corner! Every time they bolted down to their yard Poppy calmly walked down and suggested they move out of the corner . Probably need to work on some control so she didn't have to go get them out of the corner so much! Think she would make a better yard dog then paddock dog. She is great at getting the sheep through obstacles, out of corners and holding in corners. Not so great at moving across the paddock. Her preference also is to hold the sheep and let me come and get them rather then fetching the sheep to me! We started some driving which was nice too. Much needed due to her lack of desire to fetch!

Your Opinions Greatly Appreciated :-)JulesP replied to Stolzseinrotts's topic in General Dog Discussion Well this one is a no-brainer. All breeders should have the breeds best interest at heart. The other 2 points concerning conforming with breed clubs and the ANKC, well I would want to know the reasons not to conform first. And what it is that they aren't conforming to. They might be misguided rather than unethical or they might have pretty good reasons for not conforming.

	Well done TSD!

Hey that is great JulesP would you be able to ask them to contact Noeline McIIroy, her ph no is in the back of Dogs Vic mag or catch up with her at Foo before classes start, that is if they are doing the early classes  Will do Murve. I did it a couple of times and enjoyed doing it.

A couple of the Croydon people do Foo, they have also done Rally-O as we had a Canadian man teaching it for a while at Croydon. I'll send a email.

I liked this one as I got the pony in as well.

Amber is looking heaps better now. Not depressed and no more fitting That was pretty scary, I was pretty close to taking her to be PTS. Right now you wouldn't know anything was wrong with her. Thanks again for the support. I'll try not to have hysterics every time she has a turn for the worse.

I am sure my opinion is super important to you I might have been at some people if they wanted to get a Mal. I've met 2 at dog school. One I think was WL and was a scary little critter. Amazing potential. Numpty owners. Trying hard but still lacking the timing needed. The other was a super little dog, looked more show lines, great owners, enjoyed teaching them.

You have seen Poppy working. She happy walks a straight line and easily knocks sheep off a strong draw. Not so keen on flanking wide though. Prefers to drive rather than fetch too. And holding the sheep is important to her. Not sure what a farmer would make of her natural inclinations!

	Great news

Never heard of them but then I know nothing about Mals Not sure why anyone would want to be questioning whether they were good or not though. SecretKei has never come across as a twit on the forums that needs to be protected from their own foolish behavior!!! I had a google and the kennel achievements are certainly very impressive. Saw a Mal herding the other day and it did a very nice job. Had only seen the other Belgian types before herding. Enjoy your puppy!

Thanks everyone for the supplement suggestions. She hasn't had any tremors for a couple of days and seems to be walking better. She looks brighter this morning. I've noticed a bit of vomiting happening the last few days which is a problem mainly because I don't want her chucking her tablets up.

	Very impressive Vickie

The liver group suggest Milk Thistle and SAMe. The Vet specialist was a bit meh about them. Knowing what both herbs do I am not really sure there is any point giving them in Amber's case. Her liver can't rejuvenate anyway.

Cable ties. Everything here is held together with cable ties or baling twine
-
You can't really treat the liver as such. She is on a special diet to help the liver. Diuretics to get rid of fluid and now antibiotics. The antibiotics are to help remove the toxins that build up because her liver doesn't work. There are some herbal things I could try but I think that they would be pointless in her case. I found this video on You Tube of a pup showing HE symptoms. This is the aimless pacing side of it.

She managed her first woohoo in days when I just got home Bit unsteady on her feet still and twitchy.
-
Amber went off her food at the beginning of the week. Then on Wednesday she had a Hepatic Encephalopathy attack, the worst she has had yet. She was walking very strangely and had bad muscle tremors. Since then she has been quite dodgy. She isn't super steady on her feet and looks a bit drunk. She is eating again though. She still runs off with Poppy if Poppy goes to investigate something and apart from being very sooky doesn't seem distressed. It isn't fun to watch though. She has been on antibiotics for a couple of days but no massive improvement yet. The vet assured me that she isn't in pain. This really sucks.

Sorry that your dog is so sick. I am not familiar with those drugs so don't know if they cause constipation. This bit of the forum is a little slow. If you repost in the General section or even in the health bit below you will get more response.

Sounds like she was having too much fun on the couch to want to move.

Sorry to hear about your dog Teebs I read this list of foods for human renal conditions today (it was posted on a Yahoo dog liver group). It lists phosphorous levels in foods as well as other important levels (purines). http://www.nephinc.com/food-lists.asp

Which hand have you got the treat in PA? Pups often go crooked like that if you have the treat in your right hand. All the Paps I've taught have done well. Clever little dogs.
