I would actually be pretty pissed off too at the extra transport costs. Not sure I would be pulling out of the sale but I wouldn't be at all happy having to pay the extra money. I have heard before (from a laywer) that you aren't legally entitled to keep a deposit. Really the breeder has broken the agreed contract.

Plenty of horses get PTS for hurting people.

This, usually better prices than Pets1 or whatever. A really cheap website I've found though has been:http://petproductsontheweb.com.au Awesome prices. Free shipping. I had some trouble with receiving goods from this company. I did get the stuff eventually but it took ages and their customer service was not good.

Amber is going pretty well! Apart from a drop in endurance when walking she appears to be normal. This is the most positive I've felt since diagnosis. She still loves her crappy Hills food! She is also being really cute with her tablets. She sits without me asking when I walk out at meal time looking super sad but lets me pop the tablets in her mouth and then she is all happy. Apart from a bit of barking after meals there hasn't been any sign of HE. The barking might be her being a brat!

If I got that list of questions I would say bye bye to you as I would think that you might turn out to be too high maintenance! Phone the breeder and explain that you thought you were doing the correct thing but realize that you may have gone a little over the top in your enthusiasm to do the right thing.

Maybe snakes are just like cats and just HAVE to go were they aren't supposed to go??? I let my inside cats out into my ONE ACRE garden the other day. Immediately one of them ran to the fence and through the gate! It would have taken them ages to explore the fenced in bit!

Can you get to K9 Pro? It might be quicker to get him to help you. I imagine he could get it sorted pretty quickly.

My border collies just run straight to the horse paddock A couple of my baby ponies used to run around when I mowed the garden so the dogs would have fun running up and down the fence line. Last pony here was an old broody and she would just look at the dogs like they were nuts. Even with no horses the silly dogs run and look at the paddock in a hopeful manner. After that they go and hide somewhere. I had one border that went mental at air compressors.

I would certainly attend a snake proofing training day should a suitable instructor organize one.

Cool Training Session This MorningJulesP replied to Agility Dogs's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports Some dogs are quite one sided too. They find it hard to go a certain way. You see it a lot in herding, the dog will prefer to cast one way and getting them to go the other way is harder.

Well actually you don't know that this dog isn't ANKC registered. It isn't clear enough in the advert. Good on the owner for trying to find a home rather than just dumping the dog.

12 years on 4 acres and I haven't seen one snake. I am kind of like a little island though as on 3 sides I have strawberry farms so a heap of plowed up land and the road on the other side. Between the border collies and my barn cat I don't have rodents either. And I have always had a kookaburra living here. I do try and keep the block fairly tidy too. There is some nice bushy land with water on the other side of the road and I guess that the snakies prefer to live over there!

Agree. It is handy to have an expert on the subject to answer our questions

I've read that sump oil on the ground works quite well. Theory being the snakes don't like crossing it. What are your thoughts on this snake catcher?

Who is running the Melbourne one? Advanced Dog Skills. It's on the 28th & 29th January at Bulla. Phone no. 0418 791 948 Thank you

Sounds like a horrible experience. $300 is a heap of money. I've never paid that not even for a home visit.

How much do you consider snakes when walking your dogs in summer? Do you stick to onlead only? Only well mowed ovals? Don't worry too much but avoid long grass and water? I found a nice place to walk that I thought would be lovely in summer as the path is in a treed area but someone else said that they wouldn't walk in there in case of snakes. My dogs have a thing for bushes which is worrying me a bit if I let them offlead. So how does your walking change when the snakes are more active?

I would be really freaked out if the vet or staff started crying. A friend took me when I went in with Fern. He started crying! That did not help me at all. I've never been asked to pay the bill at the time. I got really upset when I went to pick up Fern's ashes and the receptionist mucked around for ages with the bill etc. I find the picking up ashes bit quite upsetting and don't want to be standing around for ages. Was waiting for a script the other day and the nurse passed a little bundle to a waiting man. Think that could have been done more discretely as it made me cry.

We all tend to post when we are grumpy about something so I thought I would post about a positive council experience I just had. I called my council (Yarra Ranges) about multiple dog permits. I explained about Amber being sick and after a little think they decided that they would waive the need for me to get a 3rd dog permit if I get a puppy. I thought that was pretty good of them and thought I would share. It is nice to see some compassion and sense rather then 'you must follow the law' thinking.

What Brand Of Dry Food Do You Feed Your Dog?JulesP replied to Baileys mum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming The Earthborn Kibble has barley in ( grain) which is why Mason couldnt eat it after awhile but i was very happy with it. Wouldnt mind giving it a go for Gibbs I noticed that the Natural Pet store (online shop) are selling Evo now
-
Nope. I don't enjoy tricks so I can't see the point of doing something I don't find fun. Hate it when I have to do the tricks part of the classes I teach. I make them all do targeting You might want to hold off teaching Gibbs to roll over until he has a solid drop stay

Thoughts On Learning/sudden ChangeJulesP replied to Agility Dogs's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports As you know Brock was a heap like your CK. Very soft and quiet. Just before he died he got heaps more outgoing and bouncy. He was starting to work in his obedience with heaps more drive and I could easily have entered him in CD. What had changed? I didn't train him any differently. I was focusing more on the girls and he was only getting token work. He used to get trained last and would be very keen to come out after watching the girls. He never really played with Poppy but was playing heaps with Amber. I always felt that he needed time more then anything. He was 5yo. How old is CK now?
