  1. We might all think that there are current purebreds that will do but unfortunately the people buying them do not agree.
  2. Kavik the step before Chapter 6 is going to a new location. When you do that you open the poles up again as you are in a new place. And you go through the steps again that you did at home. Chapter 5 explains that you are going to a new location. Does that make sense?
  3. Does anyone apart from Corvus think that the term training in drive is next to useless as a descriptive term??
  4. I would like to see 2 of the oodles added to the list of ANKC breeds. A bigger one and a smaller one. The public want these dogs. I would like to see them developed into a breed and bred properly. It would eff up the puppy farms and the backyard breeders. Most breeds were a cross bred at some stage so I don't see a problem in developing new breeds.
  5. Have a feel down her spine for any ouchy bits. She may have hurt a disk during her fit. Just a thought. I have an older border too, so hugs to you.
  6. What about trying one of those orbee balls? Balls on a rope
  7. All the borders I have owned have had such a great work ethic (even the really quiet one) that I don't feel I particularly 'need' drive. I did try and explain drive once to my puppy class. That was hilarious. They looked at me like I was a total crazy! Was frustrating because there was a gorgy dog that would have done really well but needed to be trained in drive as it was so easily distracted.
  8. Yeah Longcoat drive is really all about the people that don't own Border Collies trying to compete with people that do Disclaimer: For people with NO sense of humor - I am joking
  9. You are obviously very excited about your pup! What are you getting? A GSD? When do you get the pup? I have a border collie pup coming in 2 weeks time.
  10. Having read this thread how many people would now use that kennel??
  11. I doubt the kennel owner is going to be pleased about the OP slagging their kennel off on the internet.
  12. Border collies are funny critters. Poppy stopped a fight between 2 of my cats the other day. Was very interesting to watch. All the borders I have owned have at one time or other displayed 'looking after some critter' behavior.
  13. Nice story Good dog Raaf! My old dog is deaf so doesn't come when called, I just tell my border collie, Brock, to go get her and he runs off and gets her attention for me. Very cute.
  14. Lovely doggie! Hope you have lots of fun with her. But at the blacked out boobies
  15. Courage is doing something that scares you. Going out walking obviously scares her but she is doing it anyway. If she is older and doesn't speak English who knows what might have happened to her to make her this way.
  16. I haven't been out walking from my house since Brock and I got attacked . That was 2 years ago now. So I guess the lady is showing some guts to walk when she is scared. Would have taken more than a pole to beat off the dog that attacked Brock.
  17. Yep looks a very 'snakey' area. I just walk around on lead usually.
  18. 3 border collies - 1 acre garden and 3 acres of paddocks.
  19. I have seen dogs in the Lake but there isn't a off lead area that borders the lake so not legal. One of the off lead areas has a stream but don't think it is deep enough for major swimming. Warrandyte river has some off lead areas. My friend goes to Ruffey Lake (Doncaster area I think). I've seen pics of her dog very wet there so that might be a goer.
