Five-Year-Old Girl Was Bitten By Dog Inside Bunnings Store
JulesP replied to Two Best Dogs!'s topic in In The News
...I didn't see a forum rule that states an age threshold, however one of the rules is, and I quote from here: •Think carefully about any possible consequences before posting. Be aware that a large audience may see your post (via Google searches etc), and your words may come back to haunt you. Unlike the spoken word, your written posts will exist on here for a long time. We are not obliged to remove your membership or any post you make. ETA:...and why shouldn't they read it?...it is actually a pretty good source to get some good ideas how to behave around strange dogs, and isn't this what we want? Because it is an adult forum and people do not write on here thinking that children might be reading it. -

A five year old should not be reading this forum. If they are - more bad parenting. -
Sending you strength and hugs for today.

What is really annoying is having dogs in different weight ranges so you have to either buy 2 lots. And only just in different ranges too.

Exercising Reactive Dogs Thread

Hope Justice is ok next time you go out Snook. Got rushed by a Shar Pie this morning, good way to get the blood pumping. Poppy didn't take offence to it which was interesting and the owner sprinted over to grab it and was very apologetic. As you should be when your dog is off lead illegally! -
Sorry that the end is here. Don't let the other dogs sniff Mac after he has passed. The chemicals used could hurt them.

Dogs Featured In Classic Paintings
JulesP replied to Flexistentialist's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have a framed print of this painting. It is called Found and dates back to the 1800s. Possibly by Albert Schenck or Walter Hunt. There seems to be confusion who actually painted it. -
South Australia Legislation Change Re Electronic Collars

???...6 ft...that's 1.83 m...I saw the video now several times, but never saw a dog jumping 1.8 m through the air. Jumping 6 feet in the air is a expression. Is English not your first language? -

Electric fences don't actually train horses either btw. Well they train them to keep away from electric fences that are turned on but that doesn't transfer to other fences or even electric fences that are turned off. Horses (and my cow!) will test a fence to see if it is on and if it isn't they will go through it if they want to. Maybe I just had smart arse horses. -

Horses are flight animals so they tend to run away from danger. Dogs may choose to fight. -
The Cocker spaniel is going to be a lot of work if he has been kept in a kennel full time. Things like vacuums, mowers, blenders etc are going to upset him initially. If you weren't pregnant I would say go for it as you have done a good job with Annie. But I don't think you should be taking on a problem dog right now.

Actually last time ear cleaning come up at my vets I 'sold' them baby wipes. They thought that was a good idea.
-
I am going to ignore it. Whether a vet is going to try and sell me a wormer is simply not a concern.
-
Isn't that all just a very US thing? Seems to happen with Drs and human drugs too. Or at least that is what is shown on US medical shows

And rule no 5 of this forum: No denigration of responsible, registered breeders and breeding practices Our site has a lot of breeders with a lot of knowledge to share. We will not tolerate members who denigrate (however subtle) responsible breeders and breeding practices.

Did they kidnap you and lock you up at their place to preform these house sitting duties? If so I would be calling the police. Yes they have rights to use him for sperm seeing as those were the terms under which you purchased him.

Andy Is Unwell And No-One Seems To Know Why...
JulesP replied to westiemum's topic in General Dog Discussion
The first time Amber got ascites I thought she had bloat. So could the distended stomach be that? It seems quite hard and drum like. If I roll her on back her tummy doesn't stay round the fluid sort of bulges out to the sides and looks more fluid like. If it looks like that I would be checking his liver for hepatitis. -

As an owner of purebred dogs I do feel a duty towards allowing interactions with other people. I hate how kids flinch away from dogs these days so if I can help with a happy interaction I am happy to do it. -

One day I'll teach you my ways :p I'm in and out in 15 minutes! I go in knowing what I want, first thing I do is ask someone what aisle, grab the cheap range then bugger on out! I've learnt my lesson about loitering - leads to more expensive purchases ;) I have to exercise that impulse control lol Yeah but shiny, sparkly things.... 2 hours later.... -

In this case I don't think the child was at fault. She only walked up to the dog. She didn't even touch the dog. (according to reports). -

I was there this morning and was only in there for 5 minutes max! No dogs with me. I pretty much walk down every isle as I get distracted by sparkly things. -

Yes I lived out of town. The only shop I used to wish I would take them into was takeaway shops if we had been out and I wanted to get dinner. Stopped me buying takeaway a lot of times so I guess that is good.
