  1. Happy birthday Mac. You can have my share of the blue cheese!
  2. Totally agree: another common forum complaint is people's general ignorance of breeds and ownership etc, and deriding "Joe Public" for not being born knowing all about dogs. If dog owners can't be bothered to help the public who are interested enough to ask, who should? Pet shops and puppy farmers? I no problems with talking to people about the dogs but I do have a big problem with rude people interrupting my conversation!!
  3. Even on the dog beaches down on the Mornington Peninsula I've found the people super polite. As in I put my dogs back on lead and the other people call their dogs away. It is really pleasant. And thank goodness Hazy has found this after my raving about it before she moved!!! The dog beaches closer to Melbourne are a bit hair raising. I love Rye beach. The bit before you get to the Rye township is very quiet. I stay in doggie friendly cottages down there :)
  4. I have a a Julius K9 harness with an "In Training" Patch. I whack that on Nova when I'm going to places where I don't want people interrupting me to pat him (I get that a lot while I'm trying to have a meal etc). It surprisingly seems to work with most people! You do get the odd person that will ignore it, but most seem to stop and think when they see it. You can get "DO NOT PET/TOUCH" If you want to be more direct I go out with a friend that has Belgians a fair bit and everyone has to ask what sort of dogs they are. It drives me batty as we will be having a conversation and people just interrupt. The WORST day was when she had a 'in training' vest on him. So many people came up to ask what he was in training for.
  5. She was very interested in us again. We will not be getting close enough to find out anymore than that, my dogs aren't social butterflies.
  6. Saw the dog again and asked if it was a TM. It is! It is a 12 month old female, which I guess is why she isn't as bulky as some of the photos. I love the fluffy ears!
  7. I put mine out to go to the loo before bedtime. Could you try that? Rather than leaving it up to them to go out when they want.
  8. Oh yeah, I try to stay in touch with all my families and promise unlimited ongoing support and help. I even provide free board to any of our pups anytime. ;)
  9. How is your girl going Amstar?
  10. One of the markets I go to is dog friendly. Not sure how they could ban them anyhow as it is situated in a off lead dog area! You do hear the odd person whinging about dogs as you walk around. I personally don't take mine to it as it hampers my shopping! When I had 3 dogs I did use to take Brock as he was super quiet. 2 dogs is a bit more of a handful to maneuverer through the foot traffic as it is a quite busy market.
  11. I know. Blerk. But has the distance in between dogs increased? That would have helped me and Poppy.
  12. it would be handy if the rule changes were highlighted. Spookily I was practising a recall and distance signal in our rally ring last Sunday as there wasn't much room outside the ring. I joked with the instructor that they should be introduced to rally
  13. Thanks. Good to know the labelling has been changed.
  14. I've asked vets to do that and they have said they can't.
  15. None of the vets I have been to since the 3rd yearly one came out have wanted to use that. That is 3 different vet practices not just different vets at the same place.
  16. that sounds very similar to my first experience too. I had been listening to the puppies heartbeats and could hear one slowing down. I told the vet and she just rolled her eyes at me and didn't even bother to check. Over the next few days Kibah got sicker and sicker and I kept telling the vet there was something wrong. Eventually she took notice when Kibah was almost dead. She had to have an emergency caesar and spey and the vet pulled out one dead puppy and another died the next morning. Why is the vet going to do a caesar on your bitch Amstar? They can usually tell when she's ready with a hormone test, I forget which one. Perhaps she can whelp naturally when she's truly ready. At a guess I'd say the two puppies are large and once you hit a slow, difficult, whelping, you lose babies. Yes my first puppy was really big. The other 3 puppies survived though.
  17. Nice to see a breeder continuing to care about their puppies post sale.
  18. My advice is to trust your own instincts. You know your girl. I was worried with my first birthing but the vet basically told me I was fussing over nothing and sent me home. Next day my girl had green puss oozing out and had to have an emergency c-section. It wasn't a pleasant experience.
  19. My girl has had a couple of phantoms. She hasn't put on any weight/bulk at all. No discharge. Just nesting, sooky behaviour and then swollen boobs and milk.
  20. My deer used to visit around dusk. So beautiful.
  21. All web references have her living in Heywood. I did a Facebook stalk and found a Lisa Hoggan that went to Heywood High School and now lives in Portland. She does have doggie connections but I can't see any Shibu photos. She likes cars!
  22. I was a bit surprised that they gave out the number to be honest, seems a breach of privacy.
  23. Have you tried Dogs Victoria? They gave my phone number out to one of my puppy owners.
