  1. Amber ate the fairy lights on an outside tree! They must be yummy....
  2. There were 2 dogs and the other was getting the pat I thought Yes, that's what I said. I'm assuming both dogs belonged to the same person? When I have kids wanting to pat my dogs I let them pat Poppy but not Amber.
  3. I freak out in Bunnings on the weekend! Don't think I would want to subject my dogs to that. And mine go to a heap of busy places (markets, gardens etc). it would be a pain in the arse to manoeuvre them around the trollies etc.
  4. I imagine that what actually happened is that the puppy is a quality puppy and the breeder wants a puppy from her for themselves. The breeder could just have said no puppy for you as I am keeping her. You agreed to the the terms so stop whinging. The breeder can put whatever terms they want on a puppy.
  5. It isn't just etiquette it is actually a rule. For NSW: Cyclists When riding on a shared path, always make sure you: Give way to pedestrians Keep to the left Use your bell to warn others when you are approaching Be careful around young children, dogs and older pedestrians, as they are often unpredictable in their movements Travel at a safe speed so you can stop within a safe distance of pedestrians on the path Don't know why riding a bike turns some people into total assholes. I had some idiot nearly run into me and the dogs the other day. It resulted in him riding down a kerb and hurting his nuts. Karma.
  6. i was a member for a long time. I tried to go to club days over the years but had some bad experiences.
  7. The border collies just want to make things move and then make them stop. They don't seem to bothered about killing them, good ole modified prey drive. Sadly little furry things tend to die of fright. I keep them inside after dark to prevent possum deaths. I swear the magpies play with Amber though.
  8. A little puppy fell off a Ferry, the ferry refused to stop but a sailing boat saw the puppy and saved him. "Members of a sailing club were recently out enjoying a day of boating in the Gulf of Naples, off the coast of Italy, when they spotted something they could hardly comprehend. There, all alone in the open waters a mile from shore was a little yellow puppy, paddling toward them as he struggled to stay afloat in the rolling waves." Very cute video of some people that obviously love animals. https://www.thedodo.com/puppy-lost-at-sea-video-1437104520.html
  9. Do people feel safe walking in the dark? I live in a 'nice' area but it is not a brightly lit up burb as it is more bushy.
  10. She doesn't howl as I am leaving but waits a couple of minutes. I had no idea she did it until someone told me. She only does it for less than a minute. She displays no great distress that I am leaving and is always calm when I get home. She is a border collie so knows that I am giving her stuff to distract her  Mind you the neighbours could be exaggerating. After they told me (came up in convo about something else) I snuck back a couple of times and only caught her doing it once.
  11. One of the dogs howls like a little wolf when I leave the house. She does it for less than a minute and currently the neighbours seem to think it is cute because it means she loves me. But I imagine they are not going to think it is so cute if she does it every morning at 7am! I currently work full time from home. The other dog issues are that one of the dog needs multiple feeds due to illness. Not to mention the constant trips to the vet!
  12. How do people that work 9-5 with a commute manage walking their dogs everyday? Looking at a job change and have never actually done the 9-5 with an hour each way commute when I have had dogs. I did it when I first started working but didn't have any pets then.
  13. Oh I am so sorry. I don't come in here much but saw your name and Rupert's. Massive hugs to you.
  14. Sorry this happened Ven. When my dog was attacked I had him meet a dog of the same breed straight away as I was concerned about his nature being ruined, he was a very sweet dog. So I would get your dog out and about ASAP. Your wife may take longer to recover than your dog! I am still a bit jittery about the breed that attacked us and dislike dogs rushing up to us.
  15. I am going to object to this bit. I recommend the Dogzonline trainers that I have actually met. Not because they are in a clique.
  16. My fav is the Les Pooches slicker brush. Expensive but great for dogs that aren't fans of being brushed.
  17. I think the effect on coats is one of the problems with desexing. Amber is dropping her coat and it is alllll coming out. She will have about half the amount of coat in summer. Poppy's really doesn't come out and she is already feeling hot. Hadn't really thought about it before as I haven't had 2 girls before with one not being desexed. Amber's coat is heaps easier to deal with. All the double coated dogs I used to groom that had clipped coats had horrible coats. But yeah I think they were all owned by very slack owners that just got them clipped off and never brushed them the rest of the time. Maybe if you groomed them like Don does the coat would grow back nicely. I hated clipping the double coated breeds and it wrecked my clippers.
  18. This Not sure it applies to cats though
  19. I would suggest Cosmolo too - http://www.underdogtraining.com.au/ Wouldn't really suggest a club at the moment.
  20. The horse feed shops often sell beds made out of canvas too. Even 1200 denier canvas can rip though. I go the cheap and replace route too. I got a bed from overseas once and it got chewed up in one day! So sad!
  21. Have you approached your local dog club? Mine has a demo team. One of the local flyball teams did demos at a open garden I went to at the weekend.
  22. I've never really stuck to feeding the same dry food. Never had any tummy problems either from changing. Poppy gets different bones/meats etc too.
  23. I left a young cat. In a very short period of time I had given two old dogs their wings, had an old cat die and had a young dog die in the car on the way to emergency and was dealing with a 11 month old dog with a terminal illness. I simply couldn't do it. I do regret it now. The vet knew what had happened to me so was pretty understanding.
  24. Very sorry about losing your cat Steve. The neighbours have a dog that can escape easily ,probably needs 8 foot fences; it is up to the owners to do what is needed to prevent the dog getting out. The Op keeps her own dogs contained and should not have to alter her property to keep the neighbours dog out. I hope Cookie cat can recover . Good point - you're right. But these days good luck to anything that can get in here. The OP actually has to keep her cat contained. I thought it happened on her property The attack wasn't actually witnessed. But mainly responding to the fact she shouldn't have to alter her property. She actually does have to due to new cat laws.
