  1. And regardless of people's personal views on outdoor / roaming cats, unless you live in an area that has cat containment laws, the law says that cats can roam, dogs cannot, and that dogs cannot attack other people's pets. It may seem unfair but in this situation the OP did nothing wrong and the dog's owners have done the wrong thing. Anyway, I'm very glad to hear the dog's owners are taking responsibility, not least for the safety of their dog :) And hopefully Cookie has a full recovery, poor thing. Actually I've just had a look at the shire website and cats are supposed to be kept on their own premises. So they are not allowed to roam. They were just quieter about bringing that in then my shire obviously!
  2. No that is Yarra Ranges. Emerald is in a different shire. ETA: Cardinia now has the same rule - cats to be kept on premises. No roaming allowed.
  3. Love it when people doing the wrong thing glare at you when you ask them to call their dogs. I very nicely pointed out that it was a on lead area and waited whilst the person caught their second dog. I don't personally care about dogs being illegally off lead as long as the person has control of them. There was another dog on the oval also off lead but that one was under control.
  4. Henrietta you don't have to bond with this dog. You inherited him. He sounds like a nice dog to have around. The lack of bond doesn't seem to be causing any issues for him. Stop feeling guilty about it.
  5. I didn't like the way Poppy would vomit up bits of bone with turkey wings so i stopped giving them to her. I know of a dog a long time ago that died after a chicken frame caused internal perforations.
  6. I'm a morning walker so it is a rare day that it is too hot here. This morning was lovely at about 9.00am. Might of chill to the air still but sunny. My burb is very bushy too so most of this mornings walk was in the shade.
  7. I used to ask my butcher to mince up liver for me.
  8. Some probiotics don't need to be in a fridge and some do. What does it say on the tub?
  9. Somehow I feel a bit sorry for your dogs, if they never get treats There is no way I would go to work if I only got praise & a pat from my boss for a job well done !! I don't dispense treats at home either or on walks. Mine only get treats during formal training. They do get a cookie every night though :)
  10. No wasn't part of any exercise. They do teach tethering but the instructor is there watching. I used to tell my classes to not tether their dogs though, lol.
  11. Mmmm I went and suggested to my club today that reactive dogs were not tethered and left. This was after one got loose and ran up to its owner who was near me and Poppy. It had a bit of a growl but luckily nothing happened. The committee members I spoke to didn't see the problem with reactive dogs being tethered and left! I lug a crate to school each week as I wouldn't tether mine!
  12. Would any of you guys tether your dog at dog school and walk off and leave it?
  13. My dog park whinge from yesterday. Took the dogs out and when I got to the off lead section of this park there were a bunch of people using it playing bubble soccer (whatever that is). There are heaps of sporting ovals etc around that I can't let my dogs off lead so why weren't they using one of those places. They were just talking when I walked through so did intend to leave the dogs off lead just because but they had a tiny baby sitting on a rug on the ground! So dogs went back on lead.
  14. Poppy used to think GR were the spawn of Satan! She found their happy bounciness very offensive. Last week we had 2 run up to us on different days and she just wagged her tail at them. Both were pretty full on too, I thought one was going to knock us all over! Luckily both dogs recalled to their owners so it wasn't a prolonged meeting. But I was pretty pleased.
  15. You have your own dogs they have none. Therefore you need to let them have Zac because they must be really sad having no doggy.
  16. Yep she is having her Pediasure. It is keeping her going again. She likes it too.
  17. I tried hand feeding the kibble but she just gets upset. She scarfed the Goodos that the postie feeds her a couple of hours later  She really thinks they are amazing. Maybe I should get a bag. At this stage I guess it doesn't matter if she eats stuff like that. I hope Scoota picks up too. Have you tried baby food? Amber thought that was pretty good.
  18. Thanks Woof. She is still not wanting to eat kibble in the morning. I am getting the 'are you trying to poison me' look. And isn't eating her other food with her normal enthusiasm. So I would say she is feeling a bit ick in the morning. Apart from that she seems normal.
