What Food Can Your Dog Not Resist?
Loving my Oldies replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thank you all. He is very precious (as they all are). His coat is still very red, but shot through with white, his back legs are wobbly and he doesn't much like coming out on our walks anymore, but considering what he went through for months before we managed to get the medication mix and dosage right, he is remarkable. I was so cross with myself the other night. Every night before we settle down in bed, Danny "humps" Jeune which she mostlyignores, but the other night he started licking her all over her back. I quickly found my phone and started videoing it ....or so I thought I hadn't pressed the video button hard enough. He hasn't done it since. Hmmm - just saw him pee on the deck Bunter has always been (deliberately I am sure :D ) unwilling to tell the difference between the deck and downstairs and, of late, the temptation has been too great for Danny. Tamar has always been a naughty girl and happily pees where Bunter has been; the problem with her is that she is one of those strange dogs and stands up on her two front legs while peeing, so she leaves a trail of peeing about a metre long. Bunter just leaves little contained puddles because he has never lifted his legs. I would like to say that I have one normal dog in Jeune, but that would be stretching it more than a bit  She, however, would either hold on forever or go downstairs in a blizzard. -

I saw my precious little red man stepping gingerly through the doggy door and thought how wonderful he is to be making his wobbly and sight impaired way down the back yard to do his business. It is over a year since our journey started and there have been quite a few frights along the way. He has certainly aged, but then he is nearly 17!! Today I had to collect some meds from the vets so took him for the drive. I popped him on the scales and he is 200gram heavier since last weigh in so I did a bit of a dance around the waiting room   Again, I completely believe we would have not have made it this far and in good health for such an old boy had it not been for the input and suggestions of DOLers. No words will ever convey the depth of my thankfulness that I have had this forum to turn to. -
Yep - seems to be the case with these oldies. Up and down: deeply asleep one moment and then perky as a puppy.

Hugs, hugs and more hugs. :grouphug:

He is one helluva guy, that is for sure Love keeping up to date with him, Westiemum.

You Care More About Your Dogs Than.......

Yes, needed more options.  Gawd, maybe I do have a problem. Maybe I really am just too basic, and nuance just completely escapes me.  I went back to read the question again. I actually answered “no”, but looking at it again, I would say that I prefer the company of my dogs to the vast majority of the population. There are times when I would prefer to be with my dogs before anyone and there are times that I would like to have the company of people. -

Agree with all of these posts. I wouldn’t put it down as “anthropomorphism”; I would put it down to excessiveness on the part of the rescue group. Perhaps the group/person is one of those who, to use DOL vernacular, saves anything with a pulse.
-
Anthropomorphism = a term widely used in the scientific community to justify the horrific treatment of animals in so many totally unnecessary scientific trials. That said, while I think that the background [novel ??!!] story on this dog is quite overdone and, by being so, it might put people off, if it works and gets the dogs a good home, why not?

I would point out to them that my dogs have only me. And also totally agree with the extracts I have copied below :) Me too, except I do have family and geographically close as well ...... but they are not interested in me. I could be dead for all they care  :laugh:Edited to copy on the daily meds regime for my dogs. Pet Stock at Dural and Mt Colah - I’ve been going there for a few years, but will have a look at the Seven Hills place. Spoilt for choice these days when, only a few years ago, it was so hard :).

Loving my Oldies replied to westiemum's topic in General Dog Discussion
True love (as you well know :D ) in the world of rescue and fostering is doing the best by the dog and not thinking of yourself - no matter how hard it is . I wouldn’t be surprised if Zac’s new family is shortly in the market for another littlie and you will be able to help again. -
Deepest condolences. Petal was very special.

Fare well, Zac. : -
I reckon a few photos of Mac in his coat would galvanise the Crows to bigger and better games. Mac for Mascot.

I’m not a footy fan, but I am looking forward to collapsing on the couch with my latest book purchases surrounded by doggy cuddlers.
