  1. Thanks TSD thats awesome! I just ordered a small sheepy tug and a bunny Tug. Daisy does like to tug with her toys at home, but only sometimes and food is definitely her dominant drive. Will see how she goes with these new toys
  2. Gosh I hope you are better soon! Sounds awful Thanks, we sure did Daisy was working ok, she was nice and focused which was good. It was a liiiiiittle bit boring in parts for us as we can do stuff like sit stays which is what they got us to work on for part of the class, but other stuff like shaping her through weave poles was a challenge even though we've done a lot of shaping before. The instructors really want us to work with a toy because they said that's how you get drive, but Daisy is just SO much more food driven than toy driven I don't think she could have more drive for a toy than she does for food. And I think a lot of people use food exchange moreso than food drive so don't know how to get drive with food. But I can totally see how using a toy would be useful, so I'm sure we'll give it a go at some point.
  3. Geez it must be terrible sunburn!! Hope you are better soon Daisy and I have our very first agility class tonight :D hopefully we won't be too much of a disaster!
  4. Hey Steve, I made a nomination a few months ago now, but I don't think the person has been notified. How do we know if they have been told of their nomination?
  5. Yeah it's a bugger! But we'll still be able to catch up I'm sure ;) ;) Duncraig that's miles away :p Yep South Geraldton when I look at a map Will you have Daisy with you? LOL Ptolomy so it is a DOL Training Talk meet at your house then?? ;) No Daisy is not coming, she'll be at kennels here in Brissy ;) We were always NOR'ers ;) but we used to live in Mt Lawley so were much more central! My nana lives out in Duncraig which is why we are staying all the way out there :D :D
  6. Aw thanks Tassie I am making a lot of errors though which is what is holding us back. Hopefully we'll have them fixed by earlier next year though.
  7. I am a bit scared to wish for anything for next year seeing as we didn't really achieve any of our goals this year! But I'd like Daisy's CCD and CD titles. She's totally capable of doing both. And if I can get MY shit together she could get them pretty quickly too. I'd also like to become a better handler and stop stuffing up my dog
  8. I'll be there from the 17th of December to the 5th of January. I'll be staying with family in South Duncraig I don't think I'll be doing much with Daisy over the break, probably just a bit of agility stuff as we'll have a few classes before and after Xmas.
  9. I'll be in Perth over Xmas and New Years so we will have to catch up RS
  10. When is the next trial in Perth? There's one on NYE usually isn't there?
  11. Well Daisy can work at a Novice standard (we did a great novice run out at a mock trial earlier in the year) and she has now mastered the dumbell, scent discrimination and a few other exercises she couldn't do before. But apart from that we haven't achieved any of our other goals this year Maybe next year we'll knock off CCD and CD. ETA: OMG how freaky, I posted our goals list in this thread a year tomorrow!!
  12. When looking at pups for myself. I pick the nutter I always say I like to pick the pup that has the devil in it, I can't help it, I just have a soft spot for them
  13. I agree with others who have said which puppy you pick depends on your goals and the purpose you are getting the puppy for. I would pick the driviest most out going pup in the litter, but other people would be better off picking a more calm and quiet puppy.
  14. In those situations I'd take a few steps back and go back to basics. A full obedience class can ask a lot of dogs even experienced well trained ones, I would never work my dog for the length most obedience classes go, and she's got pretty good focus. Ask him for simpler things and smaller bursts of focus. Relax things and make it more of a game. Set him up to win even if it means you only ask for a few seconds of focus.
  15. You should come for a drive to Sydney and do some trialling LOL for sure! If Daisy and I can ever pull it together that is. LOL.
  16. I'm a bit over trialling at the moment, I think I need a break. Besides, the Sunny Coast is a bit of a drive
  17. Has everyone finished trialling for the year? We don't have many trials left in QLD (for obed) and we won't be trialling again till next year now.
  18. I will wait with interest for replies SA! We have just started agility and I envision having the same problem.
  19. Goooooooo Rubystar!!!!!! Millie is a real star :D
  20. Totally agree with you woodbyne! I learn SO much from taping my training sessions!
  21. Yeah there is definitely a big difference between food exchange and food drive. Though I am sure I could work a prey driven dog who didn't have much if any food drive Personally though - if I had a prey driven dog I was training to do dog sports etc I wouldn't use anything that squeaked as a reward. Mish is really prey driven and I am fine for him to have squeaky toys because he doesn't 'work'.
  22. Thanks Nik!! Hey how is Jedi going??? Why haven't we seen an agility vid of his yet?
  23. Yeah it's really fun. Second session with it today and she was pushing quite hard for some of the touches, and if I had my hand a bit higher up she was leaping up to touch it with her nose... so cute!
  24. Where's the evil laughter emoticon?? And so another addict is born Seriouisly, huski, that's great - think you and Daisy will really enjoy it. She is already hooked - not to mention in love with a certain Winpara puppy. ;) LOL guys!! Wikki is AWESOME AD - I can't wait to see how she goes as she matures. And yes I am quite hooked already, I started shaping nose targets to my hand last night when I got home ;) Dayz has done a fair bit of shaping so she picked it up pretty much straight away. This is going to be great fun :D I saw you working a little bit last night and you guys look like a great team :D Awww thanks Vicki ;) I don't know about being awesome but I am sure we will enjoy ourselves :D
