Not sure if this is already being done but when searching for her in the bush try taking along 1 or 2 dogs (Riley perhaps?) and get them barking and stuff. Recently a dog was missing and the owners were calling and calling but he wasn't coming. It wasn't until they brought out a dog he lived with and she barked that he came running back to them so it's worth a try. I hope she is found soon

Do You Still Vaccinate An Old Dog?
Mim replied to Mum to Emma's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Puppy vaccs + 1 year booster. I might vaccinate them again, haven't decided. -
I am not creative but immediately thought "Summit". Top of a mountain = summit. Golden retrievers are shades of gold, gold made me think of summer, summer = sum -> Summit. Summit also means "the highest level of achievement that can be attained". Pretty chuffed with my brain for comin' up with that!

Long Rant About A Scary Guy At An On Leash Oval
Mim replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
In my council leashes can be no longer than 120cm (2m) so if it were in my council you'd have been a bit naughty. I use longlines for my dogs but only at offleash parks as I don't want to risk a fine. ETA: Nevermind, I was too slow! -
Post Your All Time Favourite Pictures..
Mim replied to MavericksMission's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
CC I love your photography so we should do a photo shoot one day! Although I don't think many photos would be taken, they'd all be trying to climb on your for cuddles instead of posing -
Post Your All Time Favourite Pictures..
Mim replied to MavericksMission's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
My absolute favourite photo is this one. Muddy has posed perfectly, he's staring into the camera, it's not blurry and it shows his personality so well I also really like this one which is the last photo taken of Elle. She was sitting by the front door, keeping lookout -
Hey guys, what was the puppy school that everyone raves about? Train a pup?

Where's the harm if somebody wants their dog to look how the breed is supposed to look? Ear taping doesn't hurt the dog, they get used to it very quickly and barely notice it. Massaging and taping is great to get a dog used to having its ears handled. Makes for easy ear-cleaning in the future Sure some people don't care and that is fine, but so is caring.

I cut my dogs' nails and then dremel to smooth and take them that extra bit shorter. The boys' nails seem to grow slower than the girls'. Lucy, my foster, came to us with extremely long nails and whilst they are much shorter, they are still too long. She doesn't like her nails being cut. She isn't aggressive, she just squirms a lot and makes lots of noise which is offputting. For this reason I can only do a few nails at a time. Her quicks seem to be very stubborn and just will not recede!! It drives me crazy! Only Sarge and Daina have dew claws and theirs don't get worn down on their own so need to be trimmed. I find it very awkward to cut them with nail clippers so I dremel them the whole way as it's easier. If for some reason I couldn't cut their nails, I would take them to a groomer or vet to get them done.

My neighbours were the same with their dog. He never got walked, played with or even cuddled The wife hated the dog because "he smells" but that's just because they never washed him. He had a kennel but no bedding even though he developed arthritis at just 6 years old! I gave him hand me down beds and toys from my dogs, bathed and walked him and would (with owners permission) bring him over to my house to play with my dogs and just be near people. He always looked incredibly sad when I'd take him back home but that's all I could do. The owners claimed they loved him (he has since died) but they were always yelling at him and saying he was a bad dog despite being an absolutely wonderful dog! Bombproof, gentle, never barked, obedient, I don't know how they could think he was bad There's not much you could do except offer your companionship via walking or playing with the dog with the owners permission.

Yep just get a bar of soap from the laundry aisle of the shopping centre. It is great for getting whites SUPER white for showing, photoshoots etc I just wet the feet and then rub the soap on and scrub with your fingers.

Sard wonder soap is fantastic for removing stains on white fur. I use it every time I was my dogs' white feet and they come up very nicely. Check thoroughly for any skin irritation or infection before you use it in case it somehow aggravates it.

Me And My Dog Jumping Over The Net (massive Fail At The End)
Mim replied to Snowbau5's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes Oso they are also great at flyball! Wish we had a flyball club in Perth. I meant that it is non-doggy people who don't believe corgis can jump. -
Me And My Dog Jumping Over The Net (massive Fail At The End)
Mim replied to Snowbau5's topic in General Dog Discussion
Corgi! Hardly anyone believes me when I tell them my corgis are good jumpers! Lovely video, you should come and join the corgi thread http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/87171-corgis-corgis-corgis/ -
I know of somebody who's dog was lying on the deck and an I.D. tag got caught in a gap between planks. The dog couldn't raise it's head/stand up and was stuck on the deck. It was a hot day and the owner was at work but got home just in time to get the dog to the vet as it wasn't doing well.

I think you should ignore gender and really focus on a temperament that would fit in with your current dogs. Maybe PM one of the trainers/behaviourists on this forum and ask their opinion on what sort of temperament/personality would be a best fit. I have had mixtures of males and females in a mulitdog household and as they have all been desexed I don't think that gender is a factor. Even when the boys where entire, I don't think it mattered. I think it all comes down to personality. That's why you get so many conflicting opinions on gender combinations (ie, one person will say they have multiple girls that get along great while another person will say they have multiple girls who don't get along at all). I think gender might play a small role in compatibility but the big focus (in my opinion) is temperament.

When appetite and/or weight are concerned, I'd get thyroid hormone levels checked. Excessive drinking..could be something to do with the kidneys or diabetes. I'd be going to the vet if I observed increased hunger and thirst in my dogs.

Dogs going grey are gorgeous There's something about a greying face that is just so sweet and dignified. My foster is 11 but you can't tell she's going grey (or rather, white) because of her already white muzzle and blaze. The only sign is a sprinkle of white hairs on the top of her head. She's pretty agile and sprightly when she wants to be...but that's not often Give her a bed and she's set!

Booker is gorgeous and so is Bondi I really like your quilt cover too boxagirl.

Sounds like she's resource guarding her food. Feed the dogs completely separate and keep your daughter away and consult a behaviourist.
