  1. :) might be time for a thorough vet check, including a full blood panel - in case there is something happening to make him feel ill/uneasy after eating . What happens when you change the time/way he eats? if you, for instance .. break his food into 3 tiny meals ? Or hide it in several spots ....? if you feed him at different times each day ?
  2. make SURE you get a thorough vet check .. maybe even a second opinion ...keep records ... If the breeder is registered with their state body , and you receive a pedigree for your pup - depending on how his health goes , you may have some recourse ... the most important thing now is to get him hydrated and feeling happier - ASAP , get him to a vet again , and if still underweight/dehydrated,the vet may use some fluids injected under the skin to help . meanwhile let him rest .....
  3. ohhhh Saffy looks very perky & happy ..and the BEST little healer-of-hearts .
  4. this does not sound good . pls get a clean poo sample and take to the vet. Pup needs another appointment, as teeny pups dehydrate very quickly , and can go go friom 'looks a bit sad' , to VERY ill , in 24 hrs. Runty pups can , sadly, have internal organ problems - some things just are 'made' wrongly , and so puppy cannot grow/develop. A puppy with growth/weight probs should never have been sold:(
  5. :) Ask to see the parents' pedigrees . however , you never will be 100% certain that the male pictured IS the father . Without seeing the pedigrees/vet certificates ,you will also never be sure if the parents are free of relevant health issues which may be passed to pups ...
  6. ;) start thinking as a pup/dog ... as long as there is adequate shelter ..a drink/some interesting and varied toys , something to watch , ie: clouds/birds and perhaps a chewy bone and a bed to wreck , whether it be in a marble castle, or on a patch of lawn doesn't matter . in fact the patch of lawn is BETTER from a pup's p[oint of view..it contains scents/textures us humans can never appreciate !
  7. Science has finally caught up with what was common knowledge ;) These two leave not much doubt ;) They are striking looking dogs , and and their owner creates amazing images! :) if you use a search engine , look for Renn & Uluru (their names)
  8. yes:) esp on that side (his good side ;) He is the same body shape as old Caillie , his grandma :)
  9. start as you mean to go on (unless weather is very cold, or rainy, etc) puppy pens can be used indoors - having free run of a room/the house is an earned privilege - not an automatic right ;) if I was to get a well brought up husky pup - there would be a secure pen and shelter outdoors for their use when not with me indoors /outdoors .
  10. Hi :) I think you will find the following discussion very helpful :) CLICK HERE I am a believer in "start as you mean to go on' ;) And how many have you met/walked/played with /seen at shows, or at your chosen breeders ?
  11. yes... that certainly IS the bit which can tear US apart !
  12. My apologies - I read it as a simple 'prey drive, or D A ' question .... More the psychology of it than the ramifications according to law ;)
  13. That's a positive update - :) well done!!
  14. Did you read the post ? the question up for discussion was NOT anything to do with Councils . The discussion is to do with the 'supposed' killing of a small dog by a larger - and COULD this be explained by prey drive ? It is an interesting thought , as a dog may not have been aggressive at all - instead responding to an instinct to chase/grab perceived prey .There IS a big difference :)
  15. I am not sure I could call the pursuit/killing of a small DOG "prey Drive". It may be - but, after all , it is still a dog ..and will be smelling/ reacting as a dog .. so could it be rather dog - dog aggression ? A neighbour's dog killed their small dog ..and while it was awful .. it was agreed that the small dog had been harassing the larger for ages ... I know that is not a strange dog in someone else's yard .
  16. Hell no! I know we've had run-ins but seriously, your input and experience is valuable especially these days and I always read it. Don't be another one who takes their knowledge away. Kirty, there's not enough rescuers on here as it is. A wonky thread is upsetting, I totally understand but the same goes. Keep it up. Yes????
  17. awww- they are just gorgeous , T ..and so expressive!
  18. I highly recommend these!!CONNI CRITTER PADS I leave one or two down , or use them for bedding for old dogs ... :) Easily washed, and dry really quickly.
  19. ohhhhh--- HW - don't leave . I love your insight and wisdom .You are so often the voice of reason . I do feel semantics got in the way in this thread .. Both you and Kirty are well respected and appreciated by me , and it was a shame things got a tad uncomfortable. It happens ...as most folks here know full well . For goodness sakes , folks .. HW has helped SO many on here , and is a very experienced person . perhaps take a look back over the years? Kirty .. so sorry the thread turned into a pack snarling event
  20. kirty, you do excellent work ... it is a shame that semantics got in the way here Hope the surgery is a very successful one :)
  21. Sorry to hear the news- but at least you now KNOW , and have a vet who will take the time to explain :)
