Your dogs deserve their peace. It is THEIR home . it is unfair to have such an enthusiastic youngster annoying them... puppy , or adults should have a separate area ..well secured , where they can be kept separately ...either a pen, or a gated room ..or outdoor run. They don't really need to be together in your dogs' territory .... you just need to keep pup safe and cared for in the absence of its owners ....

Your dog who is no longer able to hold on overnight - what is the vet diagnosis? There may be a simple answer ... The BEST option for crating a dog who knows they may have a chance of escape is not to just go one or two steps up the scale ..but get the fort Knox variety ..which gives NO chance of escape at all ... :) could you instead use a room with baby gates ? ..and maybe an indoor toilet if medication is no help for the night wetter?

may this be the start of a more peaceful life for them all...

The Dogs That Stay Even When They Go
persephone replied to mixeduppup's topic in General Dog Discussion
I hope she will form a good partnership with her new boss ... and do excellent work :) -
I can suggest a few things. Install a camera outside , so it can 'see' the yard/fence on the neighbour's side. a LINK to some useful cameras :) Do NOT communicate with them , or retaliate. keep a diary ..just the time, and what happened. take lots of photos of damage/rubbish, etc . and keep safely . build/buy a run for puppy , and keep him in it when you're away ... on the other side of the yard , maybe ? Put up shade cloth or something to help with privacy ? Best of luck. Oh, and BREATHE

Buy a crate strong enough for the dog it is to hold :) A dog can weigh 50 kg and not have an urge to scratch/chew at a crate ..or a smaller dog can destroy one if it is looking to escape... I suggest a good metal one .

Methinks garbage bins should be well locked away , if he's so obsessed ...poor boy .

THIS ONE :) and , sometimes THIS ONE and sometimes, a bit of both :p

Removing The Aged Dog And Palliative Care Forums
persephone replied to Sheridan's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I occasionally pop into the palliative care forum , where I am amazed at what people are doing, and where I don't comment much, but do think about them all and shed a tear . I think it is wonderful , small and dedicated , and should remain so . There is MUCH less chance of threads getting derailed, and people who are sharing such an experience can communicate and support each other. Keep the flotsam & jetsam out .... -

hi :) If she is still really 'out of shape ' perhaps she has had more than one litter previously? Do you have photos of your concern? Did you get any detailed info from the breeder/seller? Whichever way ..built up her exercise slowly , so the muscles everywhere get a gradual stretch and tone .... (what is her normal exercise ?)feed her a good balanced diet ... and get her vet checked :)

:) I hope what you have learned will make your dog's life safer now. be the best dog owner you can be :) Love is great ... finding out why dogs do what they do , and educating your dog(using suitable equipment which you have researched) is TERRIFIC ....

GSD owner ..check chains/correction collars/chokers are to be used when TRAINING /WALKING ..they are not intended for use every day ..as they can and do kill dogs. please buy your dog a safe collar , train him to recall so you do not need to grab him ....or carry a leash with you to clip on the collar :) it is really easy, and much preferable to a dead/injured dog . If you do want to leave a collar on ..google 'Breakaway' collars .
-
A slip collar, or a fixed diameter collar? Chain collars, by their nature have more holes etc to get snagged on things ... and if they are acrtually a 'correction; collar they are at risk of strangling the dog. What is wrong with leather/nylon collars? Clipping a lead on any of them takes the same amount of time ...and if the collar is so loos, then the dog can slip out of it ,and possibly into a dangerous situation when supposedly on lead

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Grooming Requirement
persephone replied to Reese&Mia's topic in General Dog Discussion
Exciting !!! Hope it all works out , and that we get to see puppy photos in a few months!! -
Good examples :)

It may be more useful to suggest they get a proper diagnosis first ? The dogs' problems could be allergy /yeast/hormonal/parasites.... allergy might be grain- it could be a particular protein - it could be flea, it could be grass ... Trying a grain free diet may work ..or it may prolong the dogs' discomfort .....

:) :) :) and so now we need photos!!
