Your dogs MAY have a thinner coat as they are kept very warm .... ? solid wooden kennels would probably be preferable for sleeping in ..as the wood is insulating , and , if well made, totally draft proof . Thick scrunchy bedding in which a nest can be made ..and they should not need jackets, and warming pads . At present all our dogs sleep outside .. in various kennels /sheltered spots , with old blankets/ raw wool /mattress protectors, and are toasty in the mornings :) ( and we have had a couple of minus temps already :) )

Ahh .. I used to go to a country fodder store with a dane in the yard .. it had a kennel just near the gateway :) I can well understand why your OH was not popular after the rope incident ... :/

How old is he? does he have free time in the backyard ?

I love that dogs can show dislike .... it comes in handy :) At one stage , when I was interviewing people to be my assistant ..the final OK was given by my dog .... honestly . ..and he was absolutely correct :)

AFAIK, there is NO such breed. ;) Whether a dog can relax at home , and not upset owners by property damage is almost entirely due to how the dog is trained and managed .. how the house/yard is designed/managed ,and how well its needs are being met :) 'training' a dog is not just sit & stay .... training is a lifelong process , and it can happen on a level which humans don't notice ... bad habits often 'train' easier than good ones ! Training is filling a dog's life with tasks, with new things, with a method of relaxing , with learning all about the world, and with practising behaviours with which humans are happy . Training is also humans learning what makes a dog do what it does ...it is learning to 'read' the dog's bodylanguage, learning what makes your dog earger to perform certain things ..and what stresses it ... then managing life accordingly.

Our dogs love sleeping on cool floors/concrete areas , and none have had hip probs.

Of course they can feel anxious/aggro toward other individuals .... It's what they do about it is the bit we can manage ;)

Are you sure they're fleas, though? have you looked with a magnifier /microscope? Fleas like carpet etc ..not so much beds....

There could be a couple of things happening, and trying to fix things without help May be detrimental. amongst others, people who are heartily sick of seeing the damage feral dogs are doing to their livestock, and to local wildlife .....
