  1. . Oh ? I hadn't heard that one ... do you have a link to the info? makes me wonder now. I have had dogs treated with Vit C per injection, and orally , and the vets never mentioned then giving vit. C for life..... I use it a lot here - for itchy dogs, infections.... it would be good to know if this is true! *paging Rappie*.....
  2. Glad he's feeling happier today . Hopefully the blood tests results will give you an answer ! I would suggest he not get chicken necks ..they are just the size/shape to get stuck in an oesophagus or gut ..and , if so, may cause him to feel just awful, aswell as being dangerous. May I also suggest he gets some other meats , like organ meat ..or lamb flaps .. plus sardines & eggs .. to help provide other nutrients , and maybe some extra fat to help with his weight ?
  3. He is beautiful....so I put the pic here for you from that link :) :)
  4. What a worry. if you have lactose free milk .. see if he will drink that - or chicken stock , or maybe he will play with iceblocks? try feeding him mince /things like cooked meat /roast veggies /sardines/scrambled egg with some bacon fat mixed through /bread & peanut butter /
  5. How much vit C did you give her? if it is a non acidic form ..she can tolerate quite a lot .
  6. sounds as if she has a majorly painful infection . What's her temperature? if it's up ..I would be off to a vet if you can at all... sinus/nose/eye infections are not nice . Do you have any non acidic vit.C ? if there is no way you can see a vet, that may help ...as will keeping her very cool and hydrated ..let her drink low lactose milk, chicken stock (no salt) , water with a tiny bit of vegemite in smoothies , with mince , egg & veggies .... Do you have any Silver colloid ? That's good for both internal & external application -I've used it on mastitis, cat abscesses, eye infections..all sorts.
  7. I just love the one where he is running , carrying his blue toy .His ears are curled , and he looks great,
  8. Kirty..you showed Stevie such a wonderful rich life , and she enjoyed it all ..the walks by the river- her paddle pool, her visits, hooning with the other dogs .It was such a pleasure to be able to share her story on D O L . She was beautiful ...and you did your very best . Run straight & free, Stevie .
  9. and that's perhaps a good reason to have him crated or on leash .. Your dog should not be subject to this behaviour by guests if it makes him stress. if a pom was KICKED ( what I interpret as a kick - something with force ) .. dog would scream ,there would be injuries ,and possibly broken bones. ......
  10. it does not matter if the housemate's actions exacerbated a behaviour- what needs to be dealt with is what is present now. If that is a dog behaving with any aggression , whether a fear aggression or not - THAT is what matters , and what needs identifying and changing. Simple. And, IF a dog, large or small was obviously biting me with intent ... Using a foot to remove them is definitely preferable to using a hand !! With little dogs , chewing for a while on strong leather shoes often changes their mind for them, anyway ;)
  11. Inside that fluff lies a beast- don't forget ..and, dogs is dogs..whether 4 kg , or 44 kg.
  12. Not stupid .. very scared and stressed. It sounds difficult for you both . With this behaviour, and her way of greeting people ..it sounds like you may benefit from seeing a good recommended professional behaviourist , who will be able to assess her , and then give you ideas/skills to help manage :) if you let us know where you live (city/town) I'm sure someone can give you a name or two to contact..
  13. Hope Struppie keeps feeling happy ... :)They are beautiful boys.
  14. Pockets,, seems you missed some info.... this puppy has had diarrhoea for some time, and is not in good condition ....but improves on raw chicken , being used temporarily .along with the rice ,which is easy to digest and a great energy source.
  15. ..and 'ignore ' means just that !! NO looking (yes, you may well bump him ) NO talking ( not even "get down/off!") No touching ..even to push him away . he will be so used to you dancing around and giving him space ..this new tactic will not impress him!
  16. can you buy some little toys..or even bits of folded towel.. and offer him one for a few seconds of calm NOT preceded by bouncing.? I would also immediately start on N I L I F , and totally ignore..like not even glance at him unless all four feet are on the ground. if he gets his toes stepped on , that's his problem ;)
  17. They might get a peanut butter sandwich, if they're lucky :p
  18. It seems there have been problems for some time .... I do hope you can get onto a good solid professional for some advice/strategies :) from older threads ...
  19. It is not possible to accurately say what is happening , from behind a screen , really. This could be the case .. One could be hiding an illness/injury One could be pregnant One could have developed this over time ....and been activated by something simple .. Unless both have been seen in the flesh by a professional, and vet checked thoroughly ..whatever we say is only a guess..an informed guess maybe ..but still only a guess.
