  1. oooh sounds as if You're a D O L er already!! :) looking forward to GOOD NEWS posts about the dogue baby !
  2. yes... try the calendula tea to help generally .... no bathing with any sort of detergent/soap ..and get a diagnosis as soon as you can - so then you can treat it effectively. :)

  4. Now, Children.... play nice ... :)
  5. Will the breeder keep pup until you are all set? It would be such a lovely thing to start off , securely , in more ways than one ! :) Can you visit pup if breeders keep him?
  6. Losing Jed was an awful experience for you .... and not meaning to belittle the impact in any way .. I think you have now been given an opportunity to provide Kirra with a fantastic - human oriented , training and relationship foundation . :) She will benefit greatly from the one on one multiple short training sessions during the day ...the long 'boring' walks , where she learns to relax and go steady and focus on who is on the other end of the lead (and no, ..not every walk needs a hyped up dog) .... She will blossom, I think - being able to concentrate on mastering communication with you, and receiving much education and reward for accomplishments :) She will have opportunity to learn to 'chill'..and also to provide her brain with exercise using all the great things you leave her with - paddling pool, sandpit, frozen food laced iceblocks, soccer balls , treat balls .... all that sort of thing :)
  7. Oh yes! All sorts of things can be placed on a concrete slab! :) Oh.. and re a soft crate .. they are very hot ..and also easy for pups to rip/chew their way out of
  8. soccer balls (leather) sand pit /pile small pond/pool with floating toys cardboard cartons a 'tunnel' of some sort ..
  9. slightly OT ..but I love the look of these.. wish I had some money! :)
  10. There are some interesting things in the classies if you are looking for dog runs :) LINK LINK
  11. THank you for the links!! :) very cute pics .... the sheep looks quite content :)
  12. I do hope the pup can hold on for a few hours, and doesn't have to use his crate as a toilet ..so setting himself up for a really sad habit
  13. A vet check would be my first stop.... the behaviour you describe is very similar to what Hamlet had when he was found to have an intestinal obstruction.... Hopefully it is the food only. poor maui.
  14. Must admit, this is what I would do .....
  15. That does seem a long time Housetraining , ideally, needs a pup to be taken to a toilet spot every 1/2 hour or so ... Puppies need to run and play and stretch and explore.... They need exercise to help grow a good brain, and also to form muscles and joints properly. My guess is that pup will also be crated at night? That certainly is a long time in a small space. I second erecting a good solid dog run/kennel now ......and then puppy can be inside with you ..or outside in his own place ..where he will be safe and secure ..and have some room to move :) If you are renting ..there are lots of dog runs which are portable . if fences are not secure ...it is not a dog's responsibility to 'behave' They do not know . It is our responsibility to make sure our pups/dogs have safe room to move, according to their size/development ...just as it is our responsibiilty to ensure that we make a yard/house/enclosure as safe and as attractive as we can from a PUP's point of view :)
  16. donatella I edited as you were posting :) Not everything may be safe for 8 week olds ....
  17. ..and just remember to ONLY use products branded as safe for baby puppies! :)
  18. ..it's an awful situation ..however, when dealing with any living thing ..including bacteria , unforseen things do happen. Most surgical intervention works ..and with little disruption to the functioning of the dog ..sometimes, a dog's immune system will not respond , sometimes tissue breaks down, sometimes tissue reacts to being 'assaulted...and sometimes vets do not have the skills It is nothing like working with a car in many ways .. metal/rubber/oil/steel all behave in absolutely a set way ..if X is done, then Y happens. Carparts do not grow, or bleed...there are no infection which change the performance....
