  1. not dogs ..but loos .. our resident peron's tree frogs live in the cistern ..and at night come out to hunt & play... *sigh* Many grubby little froggie footprints & muddy smears need to be wiped away each morning .. and the feel of a set of clammy sticky frog feet attaching to bare skin unexpectedly is an interesting way to pass the time whilst seated :p
  2. She could have a polyp or something in the nasal passages .....
  3. Our sheep rarely get feed supplied... they eat bushes etc when the dry grass and clover seed etc disappears ... we did have to buy hay a few years ago in the drought. I do hope it does rain sometime soon ! :)
  4. The breeder of your Stafford may be able to help ..have you contacted them? I have found some links to other threads here dealing with similar problems .. click on them to get some info which may help. LINK LINK LINK LINK LINK
  5. poor old Mum was a bit wary of this big horse..and we would hear her calling for us to move him so she could come out!
  6. So, did the vet do blood tests to check for any problems? What tooth is infected? What did he say to do with the infected tooth? I would suggest another vet ... a second pair of eyes may see things differently and have more ideas....... Now... you have other dogs? May I suggest a tiny bell on collars, so Osca can hear where they are ... and also , put a small dab of citronella or something on things he runs into . Some other suggestions....Keep him in one room , do NOT move anything ... and let him slowly adjust .... offer him his food in one spot ... carry him upstairs ..and put baby gates on , in case he falls coming down ... For things like the door, his bed, ..put a drop or two of something nice ..vanilla would be good ..the real vanilla extract :) give him treats ..roast chicken/cheese /peanut butter when he is in bed ... ... But I really do suggest another vet /clinic.
  7. :) That is so cute, DD...and the other word pictures ...I'm smiling here :D our toilet is outside ..and the door doesn't close - so anyone can come in :p One of our horses used to love having a 'captive audience' !!
  8. ..I have seen similar with a polyp or similar in nasal passages. Also ask for his tear ducts to be checked :)

  11. yes. Obviously if the weather is freezing and wet , or very hot or a dog is unwell ..indoors is a good spot . :)
  12. :) it depends... I had friends who had several cavs. obedience trialled, from memory ..when home , these ran around outside most of the day ..chased the birds away from precious grape vines, wandered with the cattle ... rode on the quadbikes ... and were very happy & healthy dogs :)
  13. for that idea .. and it also seems to point toward a nice safe secure run for outdoors ..so he can roll around and play ... with no worries :) and as a reply to nobull... none of my pups have ever been crated ..and yes, I got up frequently during the night with them, and a pet piglet , who WAS crated at night . During the day, when unsupervised they were in a pen with a kennel .. sand to play in, toys and large bones.
  14. toilet on command is taught here..and , yes, timing is everything :) you need to watch your pup all the time..and when peeing , just say the cue word ( just in an ordinary voice tone ..several times) ... I use 'quick quick' every single time your pup pees ...then good pup , and a little play . then say the word when your pup is about to squat ...then when you let her out ......then when she is on leash, in a particular spot...etc.
  15. Hi... I am so sorry Did the vet do blood tests? With 1 dog dying and another very ill .. there may be a connection ... maybe an illness or a poison? Just something to mention to the vet when you ask for a blood test . I hope the vet visit tomorrow helps you and Osca.
  16. Many years ago , my vet had one response to all those with older creaky, somewhat overweight dogs ..brown rice, chicken & vegies . I remember one old lady who said that as it helped her little dog so much, she was eating it as well, and felt terrific!! :)
