  1. Not really crisp & clear ..but :) I'm happy . Only got the one shot ! A Whistling Kite, Fishing.
  2. shave/scrub/debride down to clean skin/ dry/ ( use colloidal silver, perhaps? )spray with pink spray (or apply straight betadine several times daily.) cetrigen
  3. ..if AB's sorted it , then it seems to be a bacterial invasion of some sort , perhaps invading an area inflamed by allergy ..perhaps not .. I hope it settles soon .
  4. Some dogs are born with fear/nervousness , or boldness/aggression issues. perhaps these things are why the dog was in a pound/rescue ? perhaps not. I do agree with a lot of observed behaviour being nature and not nurture . I like to know a bit about a 2nd hand car I buy , or a pre owned dog, or a pre owned gadget :) Doesn't mean I make excuses, just means that I then can learn what may have happened , and adapt my management style to what I have .
  5. that first one!!! :) Great detail and colour, and an interesting composition . I like the ferrety yawn too :) I'll leave the technical stuff to those who are good at it :) Well done! You may find THIS SITE useful, too . I love skimming thru :)
  6. WE have one Koolie , Smokes, who was 'rescued ' as his owner just left him with someone. Smokes , by some of the ways he worked , let us know he was probably a poacher's dog .. someone who would drive along in the dark, and end up going home with stock in the back Smokes also told us he had never been cuddled, and that he had been badly treated (the big chunk missing from one ear gave us a hint! ) We later found all our surmising to be true ..and the bit missing from his ear was done with some pliers , as a way of punishment for not coming back. Yes, Smokes is chained , when not working , and yes, he doesn't get as much work as he should ...he's not totally reliable ..but now he demands a cuddle before his dinner..loves his paddle pool , has learned that patting /kissing on his head is a nice thing and enjoys just sitting with me and cogitating :) he still will not come to me if he is loose .. but will jump in the ute . If I have jam donuts I stand some chance .... but otherwise he just won't approach .. he is very 'apologetic' ... and never runs away ... My Bro has no trouble . Ah well :) He's safe . My Kieran was found as an 8-10 week old , hiding in a hollow log ..dehydrated and scared. he was a staghound . He was also a woos .. with a lot of noises ... and would also stand in between me & young men/drunks. We did learn that he was bred for pigging ..and on this, his first outing, he ran away at the noise, and so the men drove away and left him in the middle of nowhere! He was the gentlest of giants :)
  7. :) TBH he should NOT need any antiseptic on there ... betadine, cetrigen, etc. he would have had a long lasting shot during the surgery .... if he has a harness..walks would be good :) keep him busy and then he will settle and sleep .... LARGE beef bones .. leg bones almost as big as him for him to slurp on will maybe help as well :) The problem with anything placed on fresh stitched wounds is that liquid can seep down the actual stitches, thru the holes ... and may cause problems ..as it is mostly meant to be ON the skin, and not under it .
  8. The expressions just make me smile :)
  9. OOH Fly Faces!!! :) :) I took this yesterday ..a tiny flower spider (you can just see his little legs near the butterfly's head ) caught and subdued this butterfly ... flower spiders have no web to help them - they are SO strong :)
  10. Terrific shot!!! :D with tail hidden , my eye goes straight to the dogs' heads :)
  11. That is my impression as well.. as whatever you put in there gets killed by the AB's ..so is a waste of money .
  12. I also think that dogs should not be dressed up like people. Seriously, I'm not a fan. Coats for warmth (with a little style thrown in) are one thing... Clearly, I have no idea who was responsible for this lapse in judgement, including taking the photo. :D
  13. :) sounds a lucky boy!! Just a thought .. anything covering stitches will rub/catch on them .. causing them to wriggle in the skin, and be irritating Best to get pugsley some nice soft boots, perhaps ? :) WE do need pics of Frankenpug :p
  14. The pug is probably suffering from a headache and bruises and soreness .. not moving , staying quiet & slow will do him the world of good!! Aslong as he is getting a good quality food .. and is drinking (maybe make him a thick chicken soup?). I would suggest checking out ARNICA in drop form ASAP .. they can help with bruising/pain etc . Dropped onto the lip/gum, it is absorbed quickly . I have used arnica a few times for humans and dogs ..and, yes, I believe it does help. Ask at the health food store or a good pharmacy ( or check online for somewhere nearyou ! )
  15. not dogs ..but loos .. our resident peron's tree frogs live in the cistern ..and at night come out to hunt & play... *sigh* Many grubby little froggie footprints & muddy smears need to be wiped away each morning .. and the feel of a set of clammy sticky frog feet attaching to bare skin unexpectedly is an interesting way to pass the time whilst seated :p
  16. She could have a polyp or something in the nasal passages .....
  17. Our sheep rarely get feed supplied... they eat bushes etc when the dry grass and clover seed etc disappears ... we did have to buy hay a few years ago in the drought. I do hope it does rain sometime soon ! :)
  18. The breeder of your Stafford may be able to help ..have you contacted them? I have found some links to other threads here dealing with similar problems .. click on them to get some info which may help. LINK LINK LINK LINK LINK
  19. poor old Mum was a bit wary of this big horse..and we would hear her calling for us to move him so she could come out!
  20. So, did the vet do blood tests to check for any problems? What tooth is infected? What did he say to do with the infected tooth? I would suggest another vet ... a second pair of eyes may see things differently and have more ideas....... Now... you have other dogs? May I suggest a tiny bell on collars, so Osca can hear where they are ... and also , put a small dab of citronella or something on things he runs into . Some other suggestions....Keep him in one room , do NOT move anything ... and let him slowly adjust .... offer him his food in one spot ... carry him upstairs ..and put baby gates on , in case he falls coming down ... For things like the door, his bed, ..put a drop or two of something nice ..vanilla would be good ..the real vanilla extract :) give him treats ..roast chicken/cheese /peanut butter when he is in bed ... ... But I really do suggest another vet /clinic.
  21. :) That is so cute, DD...and the other word pictures ...I'm smiling here :D our toilet is outside ..and the door doesn't close - so anyone can come in :p One of our horses used to love having a 'captive audience' !!
