  1. This is interesting , Jules ..perhaps, with her altered chemistry, she doesn't produce the same things in her saliva?
  2. OMG ..we need lots of photos :) Congratulations!
  3. Hi... I use Robert McDowell products for myself and the animals :) The woolen bed I suggested is for warmth and comfort for sore joints in winter. Memory foam is MUCH more likely to be too hot ..as it does not 'breathe ' like wool I can't use my memory foam pillow in Summer ..it is too hot for me . Friends with arthritic dogs have seen an improved mobility , and a happier dog , whilst on acupuncture .As for vets seeing clinical changes .. I doubt they can , as the acupuncture works on pain relief :) Pain is a great reminder that what we are doing is not really ideal ..so we stop & rest... :) That's great!! I would not be stopping him from doing stuff which makes him happy .... the less he does, the creakier those joints and muscles get . Certainly lots of jumping and standing on hind legsand running on concrete is not ideal... but playing, walking , is fine in moderation , IMO.He will stop when it hurts :) Someone will no doubt correct me if I'm wrong - but as an arthritis sufferer, I have been told to keep active ... low-impact activity isn't actually causing damage ..it hurts, because of the lack of smoothness in the joints , for sure , but no extra damage is done because of movement . Hope your old boy enjoys the relief warmer weather brings :)
  4. Dxenion .. So sorry your girl is now gone ...but I am also happy that she was not really ill for long ..and that the last few weeks have been full of love and company :) R I P Java ..
  5. Where does he have arthritis? Certain joints only, or widespread? Hi :) It reads to me as if his lameness/pain was due to bruising from the thump he received? Some bruises HURT .... he was obviously very sore , poor boy ...and yes, a day or two after an injury can be when the inflammation feels most painful ...(for me ,anyway) I second the use of acupuncture for arthritis ..and perhaps also contact Robert McDowell Herbal ? As for warmth ... have you tried a wool bed? Surely where you are situated you can get your hands on some raw clean wool ? Firmly pack a kid's cot or small bed doona cover with fleecewool.. the less it's broken up the better ... until bed is fairly firm and high ... Our old working dogs just have wool in their kennels ...and they love it ..I believe it helps their joints, too. Maybe try buying a suitable sized piece of memory foam from Clark rubber? with a woollen blanket over that ..and a washable cover .... :)
  6. What was it toileting on before she got it? if the pup was peeing on fake turf..or bedding in a puppy bed, or shredded paper etc..its body will now be conditioned to toilet when it feels that soft texture .... an apostrophe catastrophe to be edited !!
  7. What a very helpful pack you have! :)
  8. She's always very enthusiastic ..just wish she showed the same interest in sheepwork
  9. ..just not quite so effusively !! I could NOT remove BoBo from my neck without removing skin ..so tried to see what it looked like :p Oh dear ..very flattering ...not! But funny :D
  10. I would also suggest you contact Werribee . They are a hospital..and have access to anything your little one will need . :)
  11. just a perhaps ..she is anxious at night, cos something truly awful happened to her Monday night. in the dark?.... ?? Do you have a D A P diffuser? That may be a very useful thing .. or Rescue Remedy ? Apply it to bare skin on head /neck every 1/2 hr or so as darkness falls ?
  12. When did she have the caesar? day or night?Maybe she associates night time with pain & confusion? do you put extra heating on at night? could she be too warm? I also think, perhaps a light be left on for her ...and maybe a radio? Does she curl up more at night? could the wound be a bother? poor girl.
  13. Perhaps then, a dermatologist would be a sensible step?
  14. Thinking of you and the little fella .... and really hoping the breeder will give you support .
  15. It can be ... Think about what may happen if he has surgery , and problems while recovering ... if you have him at home, are you going to be nervous wrecks ...watching/ anticipating/worrying ? For how long? Are you prepared for high extra costs of hospitalisation if something doesn't go as planned ? Heart V Head is a hard one.
  16. Please contact the breeder ..they do need to know ....perhaps they have seen it before and can offer help/suggestions.... perhaps they have never heard of it ..and so now know it can happen . he is/was 'their' puppy ..and , if I was his breeder, I would be very upset if I was not told this was happening. I hope you are taking care of yourself .... My decision would more than likely be to give this little guy his wings , and be glad that he was no longer suffering .
  17. Hi How awful for you, seeing this puppy so ill. I will also ask - has his breeder been notified? You obviously have fallen in love with this pup ... and I know that feeling well :) There is lots to consider regarding agreeing to surgery/treatment - you and the breeder need to discuss all the options with the vet/specialist ..and decide which road you're taking... Not easy.
  18. In that closeup tail pic..is the red ..discharge from the 'blister' ? It seems most odd to me that something as innocent as an allergy reaction 'blister' would take so long to heal ..and now a nose one, too Did the vet do a biopsy? HOW OLD IS YOUR LITTLE DOG? (EXCUSE 'SHOUTING', MY CAT HAS HIS NOSE ON CAPSLOCK )
  19. DerRottweiler .. I am very sorry that you lost your gorgeous Bison ... Thank you for sharing your/his story . Bison was such a loved boy ..
  20. his eyes are the best thing he inherited from his cocker mum . She was little & black with beautiful eyes , apparently.
