  1. Poor little fella ... Hope you get some sleep .
  2. I know it is available online from places ...can it be purchased in other ways?
  3. perhaps do an internet search of their prefix/name/kennel ..and see what else they've done? You can also probably do a search of the pups grandparents etc (ask the breeder for their names)..see if any have been winners in shows, etc.
  4. <br style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: verdana, tahoma, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 17.600000381469727px; background-color: rgb(238, 242, 247); ">:D :D
  5. I think you and your dog will be more content ...and the OH may also mellow out :p
  6. Is pup a blue staffy? there are 'new' breeders to cash in on this popular colour. What replies did you get when you asked about the parents' health test results?
  7. AFAIK the legal age to sell a puppy is 8 weeks? Unfortunately, it seems you have struck an unscrupulous 'breeder'. ...do you have a promise of support once pup is home? Do they give you lots of info on diet /care? uh, huh. weaning is a gradual process ..and at 6 weeks, puppies NEED their mother /littermates around , so they learn lots .
  8. I am glad you are happy . to have both your favourite breeds ...and I hope that they stay healthy and happy. :)
  9. aawww :) Love the little baby paw!
  10. poor Eric. Would he perhaps be worth assessing for customs or somesuch?..He may well need a 'job' to give him security/outlets.
  11. No...or a favourite 'look' :) It's going to be interesting to see what they come up with! *thinks again of the gorgeous Teddy *.......................... *sigh*
  12. He's just one of those big gangly goofy dogs .....
  13. ..depends on the pup....but normally a couple of hours .. It is different with our dogs , and I will say , singleton dogs who are part of a family may well react entirely differently.... our working pups/dogs live outside 90% of the time..and that is where they spend time with us ..so they are very used to not having their humans within paw poking distance :) restriction of movement , and separation from humans is something our guys need to be accepting of, and quiet about! The first few days of training they are on the back porch ..with a comfy bed, lots of nice things to eat ...and the 'privilege' of being so close to the house/us. All being well, and having a nice relaxed pup, they are gradually moved away , until they are content to then have their own space somewhere away from the house. Fred came to the basket this morning after their run ..and was quite happy to have me put collar/lead on , as he waited for his portion of peanut butter toast :p ...
  14. I don't think that's unusual behaviour at a vets... however , perhaps, instead of worrying yourself , and trying too hard to 'fix' things .. firstly, have a read HERE and then perhaps contact one of the very competent professionals in melb., who are also D O L members :) three names (and yes, I know there are more) I remember are Erny, Cosmolo, and Nekhbet . They can work with you, ensuring Heston enjoys the best chance of growing up without fear.
  15. :) there is housetraining leash training crate training car training grooming training.... ..all sorts of 'training' ..as whenever you introduce something new ..... the dog needs to be introduced to it gradually :)
  16. had to laugh... I took his collar and lead off ... he trotted away & went to the toilet ..then went back to the 'training bed' , ( a place he hadn't been sleeping before) curled up ,& went to sleep :) yayyy, Freddie!
  17. andrewang .. we use it as our dogs are working sheepdogs...we live in the bush, and dogs are chained when not working, or with us .pups are trained when young .. I do not recommend chaining dogs in suburbia ... 'tether training' is a good thing for dog shows etc .. :) So many people in suburbia now use crates to contain dogs as part of a training routine, or during illness :) ..nice roomy crates, and a period of crate training, have taken the place of tethers ..used for many years . Why do you want/need to tether your dog?
  18. There are two base clinics in one town ..one is a decently equipped/accredited hospital ..and this practice also runs clinics during daytime at other small towns...
  19. I know your area well ..and perhaps a specialist in Adelaide should have been consulted early on when the bitch was pregnant .. and then records of all testing etc could have been forwarded to the vet. It's not that long a drive... taking one or two dead pups to your vet would have given them a chance to SEE and examine the pups, and perhaps give a diagnosis. A POST WHELPING check could have been done today ... the vet is open .. and most vets, even young ones, can diagnose infections, and other problems associated with a long and mucky whelping. Oh..and we have attended a clinic in your town ..a 200 km round trip .. in the dark ....with a maiden bitch who was having trouble whelping .... luckily the drive there shook things up .. but she was checked and we were happy.
  20. Aussie- yes he is :) She is getting her new teeth, and drags him around by the scruff ..tho she's lots smaller ... little horror..he just lies there...all spit & dirt :D
  21. Oh..Ok .. I think I know the area where you live ..and AFAIK there are no reproductive medicine specialists with whom to speak ..... which makes things hard...and can mean you get inadequate information. ANY vet will have a problem diagnosing /advising problems with internal medicine over the phone .... but a repro vet at least has a more focussed view. I will again urge you to get the owner of this bitch to have her checked within 24 hrs, to avoid the chance of anything drastic happening ....Trust me , uterine interia /retained rotting puppies/infection .... I've seen it all, and wouldn't wish it on any dog.
  22. We don't know that , do we ? .....
