  3. I have two external hard drives ... one gets used most days ..and one is just for storage, and lives in the safe, when not being added to. :)
  4. ..... playing Devil's Advocate here.......... P'raps she takes her own spoon?
  5. This one was taken one morning ,early . I took this one at sunset .... it's called "the Silent killer" LINK HERE
  6. Ouch poor Bailey . I hope that soon he will be not having that horrible pain. I'm sure there are DOLER's who can empathise .... and, if it makes you feel any better ..years ago my brother got to the stage of not being able to feel/use one leg ..or lie down. or sit ..before HE would see a specialist..and he was, of course operated upon immediately ..with V good results. Sending healing thoughts to poor Bailey .
  7. keep him warm ..let him decide where he's most comfortable ... and obviously, if he's worse overnight, or in the morning .. contact a vet . he will have 'cooled down ' from the activity/chiro earlier.. and he will be sore. if you have ever had a decent cramp..or a pulled muscle .. you know it HURTS to move ..and sometimes my cramped muscles take a couple of days to recover . Do you have any rescue remedy? That will help relax him ...and you :p .. as will lavender incense/oil burner/drops sprinkled near where he/you are sitting.
  8. Glad you found a reason ..but sorry he is uncomfortable . 'BUTE' is an old NSAID .. as said..it is used for horses a lot .. but not all that often in dogs , AFAIK. make sure you give it with food .. it may irritate the stomach ..like aspirin does with us ... he might also appreciate a warm wheatbag on the sore bits :)
  9. Aawww.. My Kieran was getting old.. at 7 (dane X) but I still called him "puppy", and he didn't get a chance to be geriatric .. bloat/torsion intervened. Our`working dogs are often semi retired at 10 ..they are old. They have worked hard for many years in very tough conditions, and usually have something which is slowing them down ....
  10. I once had a little dog ... we THINK she was a dachsie/ wire haired something .. she certainly was not the most attractive little dynamo .. and had legs about an inch long.... Yes, I did get comments .. "What do you call that?" , etc .. and I found a good retort was always " She's a cross between a toothbrush, and a meat ant" :) In fact her nickname amongst friends was 'toothbrush' ..as I said.. they are comments ,which float away on the breeze - don't fret.
  11. ..and I think it's great that kids are pointing out an old dog to their parents ..instead of running scared, they are actually paying attention to HOW the dog looks :)
  12. hamlet is very grey , at 8/9 .yes, I do get 'old' comments ..and if I do respond, just say ..'yes, he is getting old' .... and continue on.
  13. :) I read no rudeness in those particular comments ... they are people's impressions .... and will float away on the wind .......... you know your dog, and what he has survived ..you love him . let those feelings act like a force field .. smile sweetly and walk on . EFS
  14. Hoping you can soon solve your mystery :)
  15. I would also suggest a cramp , or a pain of some sort ... and the dog now associates it with your bedroom/his crate . Don't make a fuss of trying to get him back there ....just let him settle .If he is really frightened ...it may take some time. Maybe then move his crate to another room, and leave it open ..but put treats/food bowl inside . Let him work it out . Keep an eye on him , and see if he moves any differently /limps, etc . ..
  16. cardboard cartons , a sand pit, rotate toys every couple of days ..just leave her a couple at a time ... make ice blocks .. use butter/marg containers , or an ice cream container .. and freeze treats/apple slices / a few kibble bits in plain water .. or chicken stock .
  17. poor boy ..has the breeder been contacted? he may well have big problems if he left alone and understimulated/educated ... or perhaps he is one who was born 'different' Do have the resources to see a vet behaviourist like Robert Holmes (I'm sure there are others)? They can do physical and psycholgical profiles and help you .
  18. exactly. there are a million & one different scenarios ...from cages/doors accidentally opening, to the girl exhibiting odd behaviour , to food being present , to who knows what else. Things do happen, no matter how experienced one is. I'm sure almost everyone here has had a reasonably serious 'oops' incident or three.
  19. Yep- why not buy from an Aussie firm ...Brauer is one I use . :)
