  1. but this could not be done without learning the right way (is there a right way?) long term,or on a dog left alone - could it? the mind boggles
  2. jaybeecee- I was also going to suggest you provide her with some feedback from our comments - it may help her.?
  3. until it heals, every time that tail connects with something ,it will re open...and that, of course slows down healing maybe get someone to show you how to properly bandage it?
  4. Oh..didn't read the thingy...apologies. edited!!
  5. I didn't complete it ...odd questions, and again, no raw option...I could not answer accurately.
  6. Hmmmm.... all I can think of is perhaps she threw up the dog roll earlier..then went back & 'cleaned up" ?
  7. :( AFAIK ... and I am only posting about what I've seen some knuckling over can improve with lots and lots of work...but worse case scenario .... nerve damage, and loss of sensation, knuckling/dragging may lead to skin being rubbed off, and all sorts of infections, etc .....and probable amputation If your friend is concerned about this outcome, and needs to make decisions , I would advise a full assessment be done at a university vet hospital
  8. maybe owners of dogs should be required to take out an insurance policy ..so people like this poor girl can have some bills covered.
  9. :) In MtS's part of the world , in january, dogs pant almost continually cos it is so darn hot - and obviously moreso when they are enjoying a play with company . Here,we have currently 7 watering points..under bushes, on verandahs..indoors... but there are lots of camera angles where these are invisible. We also have tap /dribbling hose lickers ..I think they watch the birds and then see what the fuss is about :p MtS what a fantastic backyard !! Nice to see plenty of room for running play :)
  10. reading your post again.... presumed a stray shows no reaction when called was not seen to willingly interact with people.... not sure how she was judged entire....but could be pregnant... vacc status unknown ..may be a carrier of who knows what bug not a good resume, really.....
  11. Ohh , sorry, Pebbles. I remember you saying how she was getting frail ..she had a lovely long life ..... you did well.
  12. From this side of the screen- I would suggest looking for a foster dog .... This girl may never gain in confidence around people, which may show as fear aggression under pressure. NOT what anyone wants :( As said, the rescue dog does need to be thoroughly checked for her attitude to other dogs !! Is the old dog OK with other dogs on its territory? Is it actually fair to the old dog to introduce an unstable totally unknown dog into the mix? Does the old dog want to have to assert itself ..to share , to be annoyed with a young dog wanting to play???
  13. he probably has an upset tummy ..same as human tummies gurgle when they are full of gas, or are irritated and moving differently to normal. Just make sure he has water... no more food tonight... and be prepared to rush him outside . if he gets worse, obviously call the vet . Hope it's just a short lived problem :)
  14. Find a good reproductive vet ..and get her hormone levels tested - then you'll know if she is in season, or if there is something else happening. No ..it is not a 'normal' thing . Get her thoroughly blood tested /swabbed etc to rule out any nasties . Better that, than mate a bitch with a health problem , I think.
  15. Some lighter coloured pups do look very highly coloured in face/feet ..I've never paid much attention ..they almost look like they've been in teh beetroot :p
  16. An allergy would more than likely affect both eyes , I think. Ok..as your vet has already said she does not know what is causing it ..now is a good time to find a good eye vet :) If you ask ..maybe a separate thread ..I know there are folks here who have used ones in vic, and may recommend them for you.
  17. Did your vet have any ideas? yes, there are quite a few things which cause recurring conjunctivitis ... and are best diagnosed by a vet good with eyes, or an eye specialist . depending on breed , too, there are some things a vet can check. eyes are precious and delicate , and can suffer greatly from long lasting problems ....so if your current vet is no help, find someone else . Hope your dog is 'bright eyed & bushy tailed' soon :)
  18. IMO ,one cup of rice , spread between multiple dogs , over a few days is not much rice ,and is probably a sensible addition in this cool weather. Broccoli, AFAIK, is a good addition in small amounts (less than 5%) larger amounts may lead to problems. Garlic in larger amounts can, like onion cause problems like anaemia ...they don't really need it in their meal - meat makes it tasty enough ..or a bit of sardine oil :)
  19. You have some nice flowers :) Seems you & the camera haven't yet agreed what you need to be in focus :p I know that problem! One thing I do when disappointment gets too much ... is breathe...find something which does NOT sway in the wind, or wobble when touched .. go to jpeg setting and take a dozen or so photos ..using different focus points ...then have a look at what worked best for you . Focus is the thing that lets me down ...and all the post production can't really fix it . I love the bokeh in this one, and the nice sharp yellow flowers :) http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y220/tdierikx/RAW%20playaround/IMG_3656.jpg
  20. MtS I bet they love the food :) Well Done. have you had a look through this thread- it is all about raw feeding :) Enjoy! CLICK HERE
