  1. Hopefully he'll hang on until his mum gets there.... at least he won't be feeling too much pain- and hopefully the drugs will slow things ...I don't think I would be as strong as you and sit there with him :D May I suggest you call the vet? Ask about response times etc... (remembering lifting him/getting him in the car will break down more capiliaries etc :D )
  2. too long :D trouble is, this will be happening internally as well :D
  3. In Australia, cornflour is mostly made of wheat! White wings makes one with corn :D This is the same as US cornstarch, I believe...
  4. So, what have they suggested to compensate for blood/fluid loss?Being an oldie I would worry that he couldn't replace stuff so well anymore
  5. Bindii- some clinics aren't staffed on w/ends etc .. so dogs are left alone , and checked on every so often I think I would do the same as indigirl And yes, I could manage a drip line/bottle.
  6. Shite- Keep him very cool and still... *fingers crossed* if he is bleeding so much it doesn't sound good. Guess he's had a truckload of vit K .. here's hoping it will work!! I thought he'd be on a drip ...poor old fella. for you- what a worry. The owner will be very distressed
  7. Hamlet has just been out lying on the hot sand... it's about 35 here They seem to love it in short bursts
  8. I see nothing of an "idiot" in that behaviour, either
  9. I would not be using it- esp. as the dogs will be there, right on the surface
  10. so sad... Hope Ralph will be ok, too.
  11. Breathe! He may just have a scratch somewhere.... Hope all goes well at the vets.
  12. I would be useless at any obedience club! I hardly use my voice, I don't use treats, and I quite like the jingle of a 'fursaver' chain collar ...tho I haven't used one in years. My 2 cents worth is that new dog owners/owners having problems, should be able to find guidance and information at any club. Sure methods will not suit all, but I believe that is the owner's choice, not the club's. Ideally, club instructors would be versed in using all sorts of training aids/tools, and be able to show owners the correct and most effective use of all the aids-voice, touch, collars,food....blah blah blah... Ideally.... This is an interesting thread :D
  13. There was actually another truck a bit earlier...with fantastic dust cloud formation..but I was too far away rain??? we actually have had good falls over the past couple of months- but have also had some of those horribly hot days which just kills everything. The country here is very fragile....
  14. Such a handsome boy he was always R I P Toby
  15. I can sympathise run free, sirius
  16. Why don't you phone the PR dep't of Guide Dogs Vic and ask them their policy? Are you on any list of theirs or anything? contact info
  17. May I suggest feed AFTER walks and a rest.... Also- instead of walking him on a golf course, do some basic traininjg with him in your yard! practise your obedience..teach him little tricks ..all sorts of things to exercise his BRAIN
  18. To me it sounds ok- puppies DO need to sleep a lot- like any baby animal. He has had a big shock, moving to your house, and exploring etc... so now he needs to rest and recuperate and grow. Perhaps he would benefit from a routine- where he is put into his pen/crate/room for naps? then he won't be tempted to try and keep up with the humans
  19. Oh- can we see photos of this lovely boy doing his rain dance ?
  20. 28 is definitely not COLD . he probably appreciates the rain, because he cools down
