How To Exercise A Fat Lazy Dog.
persephone replied to whitka's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
A 5 minute walk/play/MOVE a couple times a day is a good starting point...... slowly and gently to start with ..so he will get fitter and more able to cope with the extra demands.... and maybe look at THIS or THIS -
*nods*

If it was a once-off-perhaps this breast is/was seeping and she was cleaning up the excess? It may become a habit if she enjoys both the taste and the feeling of being suckled .....

Hi- there is no way you should feel guilt at getting a new pup- If your dog could think as we do, I am sure she would want you to be happy and have a friend! As said- email/fax vets..send photos to vets/schools,etc..... even the local paper! It's good you have a friend with whom you can stay - it will help to have someone else to talk with Take care, and good luck in your search .

Help! Looking After A Dog And Need Some Advice.
persephone replied to MelissaS's topic in General Dog Discussion
Ok- so it is thought to be a way of getting his own way... I beg to differ.. a dog/person in pain will often still respond well if the motivation is high enough People with bad flu/broken leg... will still often go to work, or somewhere they have been wanting to go... We have working sheepdogs- I have seen them dash to work with painful injuries..... which when resting see them looking extremely uncomfortable.. So - the 'fishing' lure may temporarily override the discomfort/fear he is feeling.... Just a thought. -
Excellent, Kirislin! LOVE that second shot- those eyes!

ok...,apologies for that.

Help! Looking After A Dog And Need Some Advice.

Hmm.. Ok.Would you be able to get a couple of photos of him when he's happy/playing...then when you do put a leash on him, maybe? Body language may be a useful tool for the vet...and interesting for us -
..and it's funny -why?he may well choose the wrong dog one day Humping is a behaviour which is a visible sign of what the dog is thinking/feeling... and often it needs the owner's understanding and intervention, so the dog in question becomes more socially acceptable- to dogs AND humans. Humping can be a sign of assertiveness/dominance. humping can be started because of an irritation around the penis..... an involuntary thing...which then may become a habit,if the cause is not teated very quickly. Humping can be originally puppy play/exploration.If this activity is not diverted/distracted, and it feels good to the dog- well of course then it becomes a habit..and humping toys/humans/unwilling dogs/bitches can lead to all sorts of unpleasant things.

There was a scare about its toxicity-it contains a LOT of theobromine (the stuff which is in chocolate, and bad for dogs) but, from memory really only applied to the US .... I don't think the mulch is used/available in Australia

Hope he has now realised the error of his ways!!!

The dirt/potting mix will of course irritate her gut and make her toilet more often! The gut lining is soft and sensitive, and having sand/bark bits etc scraping it can not be a good thing You may like to look into psyllium husk... When I was told to use it for Hamlet- (weight then about 16 kg) it was 1/2 teaspoon - soaked in some water for 10 minutes, then mixed thru his food... it forms a gel, and protects the gut lining somewhat...
-
Hamlet only gets bathed about twice a year- I use velevet laundry soap
-
It could be lubricant- or semen dripping, if he is aroused enough.... boys are yucky

Reads as if this poor dog is quite unwell...in some form Have you taken him in the car to a new park? Will he walk on leash there, sniff, etc with your dogs? I would suggest calling in a GOOD, EXPERIENCED vet behaviourist... as it is a big worry...a veterinary behaviourist will be able to assess both the obvious behaviour, and any health issues... An obvious question.. were his eyes checked thoroughly? A visual disturbance may cause some odd symptoms... -
Look at those faces

If it were me- I wouldn't be taking her running- especially not in this warm weather Humans sweat- dogs don't...and she's not fully grown yet... You can buy fold-up waterproof fabric bowls at cheapaschips shops
