  1. Horty- glad you mentioned the white cedar- I 'thought' that is what it looked like...but had never seen one pollarded ( I HATE the look of pollarded trees ) Native frangipanis are beautiful trees- don't throw bits of themselves anywhere- and the perfume of their flowers is to die for :D
  2. I don't know- but trying to establish new turf on unknown soil in Summer, with pretty tight water restrictions seems like way too much work Best of luck with it....
  3. water the turf- advertiseit for sale..buy bark chips or gravel for the yard :D MUCH less hassle..... no watering...no holes, no mowing.. oh- and watering lawn each day is really BAAD.. it keep the roots just below the surface- so they cook and die Lawn - esp new stuff needs to be SOAKED... so the underneath soil is wet. Otherwise the roots will not/can not grow ... and the turf dies. Soaked is not a hand sprinkle- or even a sprinkler on for an hour.... it is watering deeply for a few hours once a week....... if you have sandy soil... the water will just run thru and need deep soakinhg regularly
  4. That's a good story!! :D Smart boy . oh- and time to start getting kitten used to being outdoors in a secure run, so he doesn't get into trouble ..as he gets more adventurous!
  5. I guess you 'could' specify anything.....
  6. Whatever you put up, the labs will have great fun dismantling Also they will now learn to toilet on the patio.... best of luck with it.
  7. There is a lot more information in here- December thread
  8. A dentist , or a couse of antibiotics- gums /teeth may get infected now the 'seal" has been broken
  9. Corn cob- swallowed-lodged-problems-peritonitis +very bad outcome
  10. Parvo lives in soil/dust for a LONG time What did you disinfect with? Only a couple of things will kill the virus ... It would be awful to get a puppy and have it get ill too!! Also - your pup may well have been depositing the virus with his faeces for a few days before you noticed him sick .....
  11. SO glad he's home and feeling more comfortable!! What a scare.
  12. koolies &x's 1 acre house yard- more acres on top of that .... the house dogs (4) race around the yard when they're not inside with us, and get a walk each day.
  13. Our dogs regularly pick their own off the vine
  14. This nest has been used for two years- this is its third The wasp pair are redoing a doorway/tunnel with fresh mud..they have 'bricked over' an old entranceway. I was fortunate enough to witness a mating too They have to be careful of just where they put their stings! Luckily these guys are not at all aggro..I can get very close . Oh- it's the male with that glorious yellow patch on his head.
  15. never heard of grass mites here in Aus ..however when googling, found This.
  16. He's pretty cute - but that left leg looks as if it swivelling or something.... Hope you can find out what's happening soon
  17. Hope you have a good outcome after time with your chosen professional
  18. A 5 minute walk/play/MOVE a couple times a day is a good starting point...... slowly and gently to start with ..so he will get fitter and more able to cope with the extra demands.... and maybe look at THIS or THIS
  19. If it was a once-off-perhaps this breast is/was seeping and she was cleaning up the excess? It may become a habit if she enjoys both the taste and the feeling of being suckled .....
  20. Hi- there is no way you should feel guilt at getting a new pup- If your dog could think as we do, I am sure she would want you to be happy and have a friend! As said- email/fax vets..send photos to vets/schools,etc..... even the local paper! It's good you have a friend with whom you can stay - it will help to have someone else to talk with Take care, and good luck in your search .
  21. ours eat moths - no harm in that I can see ...
  22. Agree with th experts and here- have a LINK
  23. Ok- so it is thought to be a way of getting his own way... I beg to differ.. a dog/person in pain will often still respond well if the motivation is high enough People with bad flu/broken leg... will still often go to work, or somewhere they have been wanting to go... We have working sheepdogs- I have seen them dash to work with painful injuries..... which when resting see them looking extremely uncomfortable.. So - the 'fishing' lure may temporarily override the discomfort/fear he is feeling.... Just a thought.
