Have you considered Shar Pei at all? They are very loyal, are a bit guard dog around their house, and don't require a lot of exercise in general. :)

Have they tested for thyroid issues at all?

Love the furcodes - they are a good backup of info incase a phone number isn't reachable - you can put more info on the dog's profile and alternative contacts etc.

We foster Shar Pei and use coats on them in winter if need be - they don't have very thick coats. That being said, when we had our bearcoat Shar Pei, he did sometimes wear a rain coat on the really cold rainy days :)

Comfy Cones are a soft type of E collar that are much better - they do much less damage and so much more comfy for the dog i think. :)
