  1. Grumpette, I'm so sorry for your loss...what a beautiful girl she was. What a wonderful photo tribute to her...it's so hard to lose a family member. RIP Baylee.
  2. Thank you everyone for your kind words...I held her head in my hands and gave her a gentle pat as she was given her wings.
  3. Recently We lost our beautiful gentle Rottie Opal...she had a number of health issues but unfortunately and sadly cancer was one of them...she was 10 yrs old. She came to us at 15 mths of age a cruelty case...but for the rest of her life she was loved and had the best of everything. We will miss you terribly my darling...gentle...loving girl run free with Tara.
  4. No signs at our place... last summer a neighbor knocked on the front door... said someone just jumped our side fence and ran across our backyard... as it was a hot day the dogs were inside asleep. Rang cops and cops turned up about 6 hrs later...anyway I asked what would happen if my dogs had bitten this person... Cop said nothing as the person was trespassing so it's bad luck for this lowlife. Cop said they jump over the fence...run across the yard to see what you have and come back later and steel it. Cop also said he came home one day to find blood in his backyard...as it didn't come from he's staffie...we can only guess where it came from.
  5. What a beautiful girl Dave... I'm so glad everything is going so well for you and her...good luck mate.
  6. So good to hear your girl is making great progress.
  7. I'm so sorry for you Kirty and I know how hard it is to make that decision...if it were me I'd give him his wings as painkillers can only do so much with cancer. We recently lost our beautiful Rottie to cancer... when you see that look and the spark for life is gone... you know it's time.
  8. I haven't seen the ad myself...but what do you expect from an insurance company.
  9. Yes I'm guilty too...about a year after I lost my GSD Tara to cancer...I was looking on Pet Rescue and saw this young GSD girl 7.5 mths old that someone had dumped...so we adopted her and she's given us hell ever since. We've had her a year now and still a handful but improving all the time and we do love her.
  10. Dave, I'm sorry it's come to this,I wish you and your girl all the best...please keep us posted.
  11. My GSD girl loves tennis balls...costs me a small fortune.
  12. Make them free of cancer and all health issues so they can live long healthy lives, as nothing else matters.
  13. I too was told by my vet at the time of my girls death that this cancer was very common in this wonderful breed, and they had seen in the last 9 months 6 GSDs with this cancer and all had died. I vowed never to get another GSD because of what happened to my girl and of cause they have many other health issues too. About 12 months after Tara's death I was looking on Pet Rescue and I saw this young GSD girl who was only 7.5 mths old who had been dumped in the pound and was saved by GSD Rescue so we adopted her ....we named her Chloe and she is nearly 19 mths old now and she does remind me of Tara in some ways. We recently lost our darling Rottie Opal to another form of cancer, she was 10 years old and my vet said the number one killer of dogs over 8 years is cancer ...it's not bloody fair. My other GSD Rex is nearly 11 years old and he's been healthy all his life, but he's at the end of his life now and his back legs are starting to go ...so we don't know how much time he has left. Rex is having a blood test soon to give the vet an idea of what is going on inside him ...so I hope we'll have him at least another year or two.
  14. Dave73, I'm very sorry your girl has Hemangiosarcoma, this cancer took my beatuiful GSD Tara two years ago. She was 8 years old and had never been sick in her life till then, her cancer was internal and nothing could be done. Tara was very sick, wouldn't eat or run around...she couldn't even get on the lounge. As your girl is eating...running around and the cancer is external, you may be lucky. Please don't blame yourself...my girl also had the best of everything but cancer still took her...and there's not a day that goes by that I don't think of her. I wish you all the best and may your girl live a long life.
  15. Watch the video. If you can, what isnt on film is described by those who were there, in the Ebook Ruth Downey Inquisition, very upsetting Not their finest hour. Chasing and shooting , in many cases three before it went down incuding I understnd, gut shots? http://cairnsnews.files.wordpress.com/2013/02/the-ruth-downey-inquisition-1.pdf No I won't watch it - I can't stand it. If that is the case that is very bad You should watch it...because that's what the R$PCA are really like and many animals suffer and die at their hands. Reminds me of a friend who was a R$PCA member (not anymore) showed me a story in her R$PCA magazine a few years ago...the story was about an R$PCA inspector who saved and nursed back to health a GSD...kept this dog with his own family for about 9 mths...then gave the dog to a woman who had lost her own GSD. After 3 mths the woman complained to the inspector that the GSD was too protective of her...so the R$PCA inspector had the poor GSD put to sleep and the bloody R$PCA had the bloody hide to call it a wonderful story. Just goes to show they know nothing about dogs...especially GSDs and kill at the drop of a hat...Bastards. :mad
  16. Both my GSDs get 3 cups of kibble per day and it's broken down into three small meals...as I'm scared of bloat too.
  17. Slightly off topic...It reminds me about a big campaign that the R$PCA ran some years ago here in NSW....Help us find homes for all these GSDs we have, give as much as you can to help with food and vet care for these poor dogs...make a donation today (words to that effect). So I went to the R$PCA Yagoona shelter to get one (one week later) and couldn't find a single GSD...so I went to the front counter and asked where were all the GSDs. The response was..."what GSDs" and I said the ones you are asking the donations for...the response..."who are you..why do you want to know...who do you represent". When I said I didn't represent anyone they wouldn't tell me anything...buy were still asking for money weeks later...most likely did the same to them as they did to Clifford, Charlie, Max and many others. It was rumored the GSDs ended up as fertilizer but was never proved as the evidence disappeared of cause. :mad
  18. Easy to answer, All a special constable needs is to "form the opinion" the animal in question in its "best interests" should be seized and taken to their own vet to be assessed and or treated. Its in the legislation, cant remember the number n such that matches. This is another one of the reasons the R$PCA is hated so much...they can do this and much worse and are accountable to no one. :mad
  19. Given both mantis and tarope have now accused me of working for, supporting, getting a bung from the RSPCA, I'd suggest there's some PMing going on. It's designed to distract. It was a joke sheridan, you told me to keep being hilarious didn't you...can't you take a joke ? I didn't get upset with your comments about rescue dogs that mantis and I have. You can accuse me of supporting the R$PCA if you like...now that would be hilarious. :D What comments have I made about your dogs? I don't even know what dogs you have nor do I care. I know mantis' previous dog was Kenny and has had problems with a neighbour regarding the current dog. That's the some total of my knowledge of your dogs and mantis' dogs. You're backtracking because you've been pinged by other people, that's all. So now I'm backtracking you say, I don't care what other people think... what about your rather nasty sarcastic comments about what I said. The mere suggestion that the R$PCA would give money to anyone for anything is hilarious in itself...only you don't see the funny side. :D
  20. Given both mantis and tarope have now accused me of working for, supporting, getting a bung from the RSPCA, I'd suggest there's some PMing going on. It's designed to distract. 21. As I said...I could be wrong. Tarope, what I am a supporter of is logic and truth, rather than ridiculous hysteria. Here is logic: one dog that you got from a rescue group is not evidence of people no longer adopting dogs from the RSPCA. Logic, try it. Your accusation that I am an RSPCA supporter is, as usual, when you are unable to prove your claim, simply meant to deflect attention from you. If you have evidence that people are abandoning the RSPCA then post it. Can't be that hard. The fact that the R$PCA is crying foul that people are going elsewhere to buy dogs is in itself prof enough...don't you think. :D Ah, tarope, just keep on being hilarious. What else can I say. Don't waste your breath Tarope. Four out of the five dogs in my block of units all came from rescue, none from the RSPCA. The fifth one was adopted by a lady who's friend passed away, who took her in rather than have her being PTS. Yes I know mantis, I just can't put my finger on it...whether sheridan hates rescue dogs or gets a commission from the R$PCA for dogs sold.
  22. Does Clifford look aggressive in any of the photos even with all his injuries...NO !!! R$PCA policy is they do not re-home pitbulls, this vile organization prayed on the emotions of the general public using this poor dog to get as much money as possible then released a statement saying poor Clifford had suddenly became aggressive and was killed... yeah right...SHAME...SHAME...SHAME R$PCA :mad ps. not having a go at you Noishe, thanks for the links. What an absolutely ridiculous statement. It is completely impossible to determine whether a dog is aggressive from photos. I'm not saying he was aggressive or that he should have been killed as I don't know the full story but when people make crazy statements like "you can tell from the photo the dog wasn't aggressive" or "you can tell from the photo the dog wasn't sick" (as is happening on Moorook's page), all you do is undermine any credibility the rest of your comments may have. You think my statement was absolutely ridiculous do you, well what about these R$PCA statements. "Clifford shows his joy and appreciation to every caring person he meets. He is very much loved by RSPCA staff and enjoys spending time in the Inspectorate office. He was even ‘blessed’ at this week’s Blessing of the Animals Ceremony at the shelter. We give thanks for the ways that animals like Clifford enrich our lives here at the RSPCA". Then this... "The RSPCA announced today (31 January 2005) that an expert veterinary and shelter team has had to make the extremely sad and difficult decision to humanely euthanase a severely abused dog, for the safety of animals and people. RSPCA Chief Executive Officer Bernie Murphy said ‘Clifford’ who was emaciated and covered in ulcers when he thrown from a vehicle onto a roadway at Ramsgate last September, had displayed increasingly aggressive behaviour to staff, despite four and a half months of intensive rehabilitation and training at the RSPCA’s Yagoona shelter". I wonder if poor Clifford had gone to a rescue group instead of the dog killers, would he have suffered the same fate...I think not even a person with a 6th grade education would smell a Rat here. Poor Clifford was murdered 8 years ago, but his memory lives on...RIP poor Clifford you will never be forgotten. Your response doesn't even make sense. My point was that stating a dog is not aggressive on the basis of a few photos is ridiculous. Whether right or wrong, the RSPCA's statements were based on actual time spent with the dog and not a photo. I was not supporting the RSPCA, I was saying it is stupid to say a dog isn't aggressive because of a photo just as it is stupid to say a dog is aggressive because of a photo. My point was also that if people get so hysterical that they make wild claims that are not founded upon actual facts they discredit anything else they may have to say that is actually valid. I followed poor Cliffords story when it happened and didn't read about it on DOL like you,so no wild claims here... what the R$PCA did outraged many people who had never owned a pitbull either just like me. How do you know the R$PCA's statements were based on actual time spent with the dog, they lie and I'm not hysterical as you put it...I just have a compassion for all dogs of all breeds who's only crime is to fall into the hands of the R$PCA. Do you really think they spent four and a half months of intensive rehabilitation and training on one dog...in a pig's eye. RIP Clifford, Charlie, Max and all the other dogs murdered by the R$PCA.
