  1. I agree CavNrott and have now deleted my reply which had the original quote.
  2. Thanks MavericksMission. I guess the close proximity might add to the confusion, especially for interstate folks. I am forever grateful to the Lort Smith Animal Hospital for having saved my dog's life when she was very ill.
  3. I can only speak highly of the Lort Smith
  4. Lort Smith are primarily an animal hospital but do some rehoming I believe. The link below also has links to info on their shelter. I have the highest regard for them as an animal hospital, committed to caring for animals as well as helping low income people care for their pets. From their website: http://www.lortsmith.com/index.php
  5. I'm sorry for the loss of your special girl. It must be so hard when so sudden. RIP Viva
  6. I worked out a really easy way to cook pumpkin for my dogs: Using an apple corer put about three holes into the top, through to the inside, then put the whole thing in the oven (in one piece) and bake it in the oven a tray with about 1cm of water. In about an hour or so (depending on the size) you have a fully cooked pumpkin easy to cut/mash up. I feed mine the skin as well and some of the seeds. Mine are big dogs (Labs) so the seeds are ok too.
  7. Just a thought, could she have an under active thyroid? I know in humans one of the symptoms is constipation. Maybe a general check-up at the vets could be a good idea, they may also give some dietary advice. I would try cooked pumpkin but don't really know. I hope things improve for your dear old girl.
  8. Mine sleep on the bed. They each have a thick chenille cotton bath mat for their spot on the bed. I find this works well in reducing the washing and reminding them that I need some room too! This pic shows the sort of mats they sleep on, I find them good because they tend to stay in place too.
  9. I hope you can find someone RuralPug, otherwise 400km is a lot of driving!
  10. Are there any creeks nearby? They tend to go where they can find water. I hope he is found safely soon.
  11. Nicely said stans mum. :) I hope everyone affected by the fires are safe and ok.
  12. Sorry I'm late to see this Persephone. I'm sorry for the loss of your special boy. RIP Mr Wilson
  13. Hi Dave no advice from here but wishing for a good outcome for your girl. I hope the growth is benign. One of my girls had a nasty strange growth removed from her paw last year and has been fine since.
  14. I'm very sorry for your loss of your beautiful girls. RIP Maddie and KC
  15. Just gorgeous, love those long wheite socks! :)
  16. Ohh happy birthday lovely Maddie. Have a Greyt day! :)
  17. Ohh no I missed that or did you hear about it elsewhere Cody?
  18. I'm not sure if this has been posted before, it brought a tear here. http://www.mostwatchedtoday.com/helmet-camera-captures-firefighter-bringing-a-tiny-kitten-back-to-life/
  19. My dog was on vet prescribed cortisone long-term for a grass allergy and I had to take her off it because she developed severe pancreatitis. A second vet suggested the cortisone most likely caused the pancreatitis. I have to keep her completely away from the grass she is allergic to now. Apparently these allergies tend to get worse as they age. If you do stop the cortisone get vet advice because it cannot be stopped suddenly. Good luck with finding better ways to manage it. PS This thread really belongs in the Health / Nutrition / Grooming section. You might also find more info if you search there. :)
  20. I saw this on the news tonight. This dear old girl was rescued from a mine shaft somewhere near Ballarat today. I hope the owners have been found.
