  9. I did a check and couldn't see this posted elsewhere. Maybe it should be posted in General as well to warn people? I saw it on the television news and the men were impostors wearing Hume Council jackets and a vehicle made to look like it was the Council's. Two men posing as Hume Council workers try to seize dog from Roxburgh Park house http://www.heraldsun.com.au/leader/north-west/two-men-posing-as-hume-council-workers-try-to-seize-dog-from-roxburgh-park-house/story-fnrvvn43-1227453459852 Edited, minor correction.
  10. Sending big pats and hugs for Bru to get well soon, from another Lab family.
  11. I'm very sorry to hear this swazzie, I can understand how you must feel having lost a Lab girl earlier this year with a similar condition. In our situation the kindest thing was to have her put to sleep because she was in so much pain and discomfort and her decline was quite rapid. It may not be the same for Bru. Big hugs to you, Bru and your family.
  12. I'm sorry for your loss Kirty. He looks so handsome in those photos and a distinguished old boy on the last one. RIP Champa.
  13. What lovely pics Kirislin. They stay with us always don't they, the love being timeless. :) .
  14. I understand ricey. I lost my eldest girl Bella rather suddenly in February and it hit me more deeply than I could have predicted. She was old and in poor health but somehow I never imagined life without her. Sorry to take up your thread though but hope she will be there to greet Lulu. Go well little ones.
  15. I subscribe to The First Dog on the Moon and received this in an email today. I gather this might be the dog that inspired the cartoon column. It's very sad and many of us here know how they must feel. http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/commentisfree/2015/jun/24/we-got-some-bad-news-today?CMP=ema_1732
  16. I'm sorry for your loss ricey and family. It's hard when our loving loyal best friends depart. Take care, heal well, you have been through a lot lately. Rest in Peace Lulu.
  17. My condolences Christine on your loss of Jasper. He looks such a lovely handsome happy boy in that photo. May he be running pain free now over the rainbow bridge.
  18. It could be more than one thing causing his itchy skin. I notice Kirty also mentioned carpet; have you had any new carpet installed? If so Google "new carpet and chemicals". There's lots of info about hazardous chemicals used in new carpet and a dog would be more directly exposed to them than us. I only mention this because you said his allergies started after the inside was done.
  19. The pics load for me but don't know about allergic reactions to specific plants. I agree with tdierikx that pic 2 looks like a decorative type of Wandering Dew /Tradescantia that Persephone also mentioned. I will load your pic as a thumbnail. It could be the grass, my dog is allergic to Kikuyu grass. I would try not to have the dog on prednisone long term as it can cause other problems. Best to find the cause of course which is what you are trying to do. Many things can cause allergy, diet being another. If you do a forum search there have been quite a few threads on allergies. I wish you the best of luck. PS Rather than pull it up maybe you could put a wire cage of some sort over the plant in pic 2 or fence off so that your dog cannot step on it until you are sure? Sometimes it can be the plant's pollens as well though and fencing isn't enough.
  20. Oh no, I hope she is found soon safe and warm.
