  1. Looks like they did not however. I don't see any problem with renewing or re-starting an old thread when the topic is the same. Welcome Doglover77, I hope you find some help somewhere for your Corgi. I absolutely love that breed having grown up with them.
  2. Then to embed it I think you remove the 's' from 'https'. ;)
  3. He does a bit Mita. I noticed on the page where they were listed that they have been adopted now which is good news.
  4. I'm sorry for your loss poocow, such a beautiful boy. RIP Darcy
  5. I'm so sorry for your loss Bubitty, I always thought of Bubby as a young boy and loved hearing about him. The years go so fast don't they! Rest in Peace Bubby
  6. It's a late Sunday post but I thought this adorable pair of Pomeranian X were worth a mention. They think it is a mother and son, 'Lucy' and 'Puppy'. I hope they find a happy caring home together: http://saveadog.org.au/animals-adoptions/dog/all/2082/ http://saveadog.org.au/animals-adoptions/dog/all/2081/

  8. I had to like all those videos Starkehre. Having followed their puppy thread It is such joy to see them doing so well, thanks for posting them.
  9. It is over ten years since I did that trip, Melbourne to Perth and back, with my partner at the time and my Labrador. We mostly camped in the roadside camping places that were provided. The only facilities back then were rather run-down toilets. One had a wasp hive under a toilet seat and we had to watch for human poo on the ground unfortunately because the dog would eat it. I'm not much help with info about accommodation but I'd like to volunteer a word of caution to anyone doing that trip with a dog; that being not to tether it in the desert unattended. Most people may know this but I learnt the hard way. We stopped at the Balladonia roadhouse for a very welcome breakfast. It was December and quite hot so we could not leave him in the van. We tethered him in the shade and within a few minutes he was barking loudly. We went to see what the problem was and in that short time desert ants had started trailing up his leg towards his eyes. I'm so glad we got to him so soon the poor boy. Other that that he absolutely loved that trip and was a great camp guard. He slept in the van with us at night too.
  10. Yeah I was thinking of doing something like that RuralPug. Today I used safety pins for a temporary measure to turn the back flaps up but can't leave them on as they wouldn't be safe enough for him to lounge around with. It was so cold today and he has a thin coat so really needs a coat now for walks. And re lifting the one leg, he likes to vary it and sometimes pees with one then turns around and lifts the other.
  11. I'm trying to deal with this at the moment. I'm going to make my boy some new coats this winter. He is the first male dog I have had for a while and when we went for a walk with his existing coat he accidentally peed on it due to the size and shape of the coat. So now I have to work out a pattern that will cover his butt enough but have a clear path for his pee stream. I might try to design it so it could be adjusted some way for walks.
  12. Meet my dear little man 9 year old Dozer, his favourite toy is a Chuckit ball but his advice in general I think is 'keep all those favourite balls and kongs close'! Unfortunately, Dinosaur and Dolly soon met with the same fate as most of his stuffed toys.
  13. My condolences on the loss of your gorgeous boy family.in.brisbane
  14. I'm happy to hear of Stella's improvement. She's such a cutie!
  15. Sending some get well wishes for your girl. I had a Labrador that got puppy strangles. We were not sure he would pull through at one stage he got so listless but he did and lived for another 16 years and had very robust health from then on. He did have antibiotics for the puppy strangles but it was so long ago I cannot remember what they were. He also had distinctive black patches around his nose from the scaring but I still always thought he was gorgeous!
  16. I'm sorry for your loss, such a sweet girl. RIP Molly
  17. Hi Colin, My rescue dog came with some fear aggression issues that made walking him a bit stressful at first. We had some sessions with Amanda Murcutt and I found her techniques and advice very helpful. It has improved our walks a lot. http://www.pawsitivelygreatpets.com.au/meet-the-team There are also other good behaviourists in Melbourne that others here may recommend. Best of luck with your girl. Kaye

  22. My dog recently had some sessions with Amanda Murcutt for some fear aggression issues he has and I found her very good and helpful. She is based in the SE suburbs of Melbourne but will travel to you. http://www.pawsitivelygreatpets.com.au/meet-the-team efs
  23. I gave my dog his monthly Advantage tonight, forgot and patted him getting it all over my sleeve. I find the first day of application a bit tricky as I don't want to get it all over the couch and bed where he hangs out. One time I tried putting his little polar fleece coat on but thought that might limit its effectiveness. So I post to ask if others have any special tips for that first day? I wish I didn't have to use this stuff but he seems to attract fleas if I don't. I'm also impressed that Advantage has one that does heart worm as well as other worms. He is a rescue dog and this is what they had been using so I am continuing with it.
  24. You could place the dog's bowl in a saucer of water and create a moat where the ants cannot cross the water. I have used this before; it mostly works if the dog doesn't move the food bowl too much to break the water barrier. If you don't already have anything suitable plastic pot plant saucers from the $2 shop work well. Good luck!
