  1. OH is taking the greyhounds on Sat
  2. I will be there Thurs 1sy with IGs and Greys. So very kind of the RAS to put them both on the same day. Bet I spend all day running around like a crazy lady
  3. I would definately plate. A vet explained to me the other day that if the bones are displaced then it is much better to plate as if you cast it can take a very long time for the bones to rejoin.
  4. I have 2 Gr Ch Italian Greyhounds and just recently got a Gr with my first big greyhound. All three dogs were retired once they got their Grand. All three were/ are young and certainly still very much capable of winning many more points and in group/show awards. For me I would much rather show a younger dog and try to win with them also rather than showing the same dog all the time. I have also seen many many newbies give up and stop showing because they cant beat the grands.
  5. No idea Kavik. I assumed it is the no body fat thing but I used it of Lily (no fat IG) and Jacqui (fatty IG) and also Skadi grey when she was a fatty also. Although obviously not fat like other dogs can be. Skinny Lily was the worst affected. Very depressed and I kept poking her to make sure she was alive. Skadi and Jacqui were not much better. Lasted for about a week and then they were ok again
  6. Advantix did not agree with my greyhounds or IGs. Made them very sick for several days.
  7. If you can get the whippet to Sydney I can take it to Bathurst in about two weeks
  8. Frontline Plus every two weeks but you will need to worry about fleas more than ticks where you will be staying and showing. There are no ticks where you are staying and the showgrounds are ok too. Just stay out of the bush areas. Start the frontline now and you will be fine. Paige wouldnt let her mum or bro get a nasty tick.
  9. You might want to check they allow dogs. They werent 12mths ago after an incident with barking GSD's and many dogs in rooms
  10. I have Greyhounds and Italian Greyhounds. I have in the past taken the IGs both lure coursing and circle racing. And they still enjoy chasing rabbits in the paddock. The greyhounds there is a huge difference between the look of SL and WL. My first two are both WL and also show. They are dual registered GRA and ANKC. There is plenty of disapproval amongst show people who say WL should not be in the show ring, funnily the race people do not think show dogs shouldnt run. Skadi is the only race bred greyhound to gain her Gr Ch title. At 4yrs old she has just had her first race start. It has involved stripping the weight off her and building a whole lot of muscle and increasing fitness which many judges seem unable to cope with. While I would love to do both show and race at the same time, reality has shown that it is unfortunatly very difficult, although IMO there is nothing more beautiful than a fit and muscled up grey in race condition. My latest addition is a SL grey who is being raised the same was as the WL dogs. She has every bit as much instinct to chase, proven recently when she put herself into a fence chasing rabbits. Once she is older she will run at the trial track as GRA rules mean she is not eligible to enter races.
  11. Thanks guys. I have a few suggestions to try. Will report back on how we go with them. Unfortunately the landlord wont deal with it. When we moved in the fleas here were horrendous (read black legs from walking out to kennels). Realestate said they knew So I threatened to move all dogs into boarding and me into a hotel and send them the bill until it was fixed. They did send someone over to spray pretty quickly but that was a few years back. They said if it needed doing again we had to pay. The landlord is a real tighta**e and everything is a fight so its just not even worth asking them. She only just tollerates the dogs and it would give her a reason to kick us out. I cant have chooks as I have greyhounds and they wouldnt last 5 mins.
  12. Have been using frontline spray very successfully until now. Had to get spoton yesteday for the big greys as one has a very thick coat. It was scarry to see how many fleas she had. It seems to have worked but they are still getting more when they go outside. The IGs got the spray as always. There are too many of them to do spoton. The greys have the big juicy fleas but the last 24hrs have had lots of the little ones too. The IGs are mainly the big fleas. And yes we have heaps of wild rabbits also Cant really plant too much as its a rented house and looks like a grass plainland, not a tree in sight on my side of the fence. The landlord must have hated trees of any sort. I really like the idea of the dried plants in their beds.
  13. Ever since moving into my new house a few years ago I have had problems with fleas every summer. I have kept it pretty much under control but this year they are just terrible and now with the rain and humidity this week they are unbelievable. I have treated all the dogs and the house but as soon as they go out on the grass they just get covered again. I need help. I live on 5 acres and the dogs have access to about 2 acres on a daily basis. What can I realistically do which is not going to break the bank.
  14. I have worked for myself for many years both in a salon and mobile but have received an offer to work full time for someone else. I have previously worked for this person on a part time basis and the conditions are much better than mobile, not to mention the lack of travel. They have asked me "what would it cost to get you here full time" Of course having been self employed I have no idea what the going rate is for groomers and am wondering if anyone out there would like to give me an idea. I know most people dont like to disclose how much they earn so PM is fine. Thanks heaps

I have done some obedience with Skadi and she will go back and do more next year once she retires from the show ring. The club I go to is fine about her not wearing her muzzle while training on the grounds but I did ask for permission first. Since everything they do is for food reward it was a bit hard to treat and have the muzzle on at the same time. They did say that if someone complained then she would have to have her muzzle back on though.
