  1. Thanks for the feedback. I am willing to look at it further and not implement it, if you can convince me with a logical argument that it is going to make the so-called 'politics' any worse. At the moment, dog people put their dog's wins and photos on facebook and others 'like' it or comment on it. How is having a link on the profile any different if somebody want to optionally[/] put it the link on the profile and sombody who is a facebook member wants to optionally 'like' it? It may not make it better but how is it going to make it worse? As to the comment that is is going to make it easy for someone to rubbish your dog .... If they are going to rubbish your dog they can easily do that now by either taking the photo of your dog and posting it to facebook or just adding a link to the profile in their post. How is having a 'like' button on the profile going to make things worse? To me it will maintain the status quo. As I previously said, I am not a fan of facebook but the dog world itself is a big fan and I need to embrace that or be left behind. Re the pointscore, there will be some small changes made to it next year which will appease some people but it will still be running
  2. I tried it again and I still get the "Error" That went well. I have switched it off until I look at what is causing the error.
  3. Gee you are quick to spot it. It has now been fully implemented on the profiles. It is switched off by default. You can switch it on by editing the profile and selecting the relevant option. The Facebook Likes and Google+ will be added to various parts of the site over the next week. As much as I do not like facebook, I need to get 'with it' or be left behind as facebook is a big part of the dog community. Google+ is also important as it will influence Google search results over time.
  4. Can you email us the details of the dogs concerned. The dog can be alive still but it should be retired from the ring.
  5. It is. Under the current law, I am liable as I am the 'publisher'.
  6. Staff, I understand what you are talking about and in an ideal world, I would love to do what you suggested. However as Sandra777 stated, there is no way to verify the statements for or against a breeder. If I was a dodgy breeder, I could easily make up numerous internet identities and give myself glowing reviews. On the other hand, if I was a good breeder and had enemies, they could also bring me down with bad reviews. This would not be like Ebay where the transaction is readily identifable (as it is all done via their system) and both the buyer and seller build up a feedback score. There is no way in the breeder feedback scenario to see what the buyer's reputation is like. The system would be one-sided against the breeder. You also open up a legal can of worms which from current experience, I do not intend to intentionally expose myself further to. There would be not too many legitimate businesses who would intentionally start a web site where you would be allowed to anonymously give feedback about a person. They would leave themselves open to being sued if there was a statement made that was false and potentally damaging to their reputation. You see a lot of feedback sites about 'businesses' on the internet but under current defamation laws, most larger companies are not able to sue for defamation. It is a different story for people though. If the current laws were made clear as to the liability of a web site owner of content that they did not personally write, then it would be worth investigating further. Until that time though, it is not an option (for me anyway).
  7. Charmer. The forum is scheduled to be upgraded on 7th May to the latest version. I believe that I will be able to install an option to let people pick which forums will be included in the 'View New Posts' link. Wooo Hooo!
  8. A few people have now been permanently sent off so lets now stop the fighting.
  9. :D Congratulations to everyone who won and was nominated. Thanks to the person who nominated Dogz Online as best web site too . It was a great night with even better company. The awards are going from strength to strength each year and are a tribute to the work that Julie, Lesley and the rest of the MDBA team do.
  10. I have merged all the various threads into this one.
  11. I give up. Last year all the country people complained to us that the 'city' folk could easily win with all their double points for class of breed wins at shows over 750 (as according to them the class of breed rarely had any extra competition). We saw merit in their suggestion and hence we then made changes to help the 'country people' by removing the class of breed wins and also upping the level to 1000 so that far less shows now get double points and now they still complain. Entering the pointscore is not compulsory. A lot of people have chosen to not enter this year and we fully support them as the whole thing is about choice.

  16. Thanks everyone. Merry Christmas!
  17. Can we quit with the snarky comments that are starting to appear. If you do not like what a person says and you do not think you will be able to control what you say in reply, put the poster that you have an issue with on ignore. Thanks
  18. O.K. Sending you off to Troy Now You should now see the forum on the front page listing.
