  1. it is SL, one minute your dog is happy & healthy, within an hour you can be at the vet preparing for life saving surgery. Early detection is your best bet for the first steps to a successful outcome. fifi
  2. Hoping all is well, there are good descriptions of the Gastroplexi op in those links. If they were able to successfully pass a tube into the stomach, then hopefully she's not twisted and the gas can be relieved. still sending good vibes, have been where you are and its very stressful :-( fifi
  3. http://www.iwclubofamerica.org/ER_info.htm#Bloat A link that may help explain what's happening - from the Irish Wolfhound Club of America and here: http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=2+1571&aid=402 fifi
  4. Bloat is where the gas is trapped but may be evacuated, GDV Gastric torsion is where the stomach twists and traps the gas, necissitating abdominal surgery to untwist the stomach. It is a very big operation and I won't lie, it has a very high risk - both surgically and post-operativley for blood clots and infection. With a successful op, they will usually perform a Gastroplexy to anchor the stomach to the abdominal wall or ribs, to reduce further risks of GDV. PM me if you need any further info. sending all my good vibes your way. The deep chested dogs are most at risk, ie; the wei's, wolfhounds, danes, labs ect. fifi

Thank you for sharing Lucinda's journey with us all, many hugs from fifi, danny & hounds xxxxx

  13. Oh they are beautiful Tibbiemax, I just love old dogs. Grandma chose 'her' day to go, Australia day - for an Aussie breed. Can't ask for much more in a life, to go peacefully at a ripe old age, much loved. fifi
  14. oh Trish, I'm so sad to read this. I could hear the love and humour in your voice when you spoke of Grandma. love to your kids who will be feeling her loss so much. Don't feel guilty about being away, we cannot be home 24/7, and she would have been peacefully asleep & old & happy - something she would never have seen if you hadn't taken her home. She spared you the sadness of making 'that' decision & last trip to the vet, good on you old girl. run free Grandma... love fifi, danny & hounds xxxx
  15. my dog .. my diet choices met up with Ivys sister and her owner hasn't stuck with the breeders diet either .. what the breeder feeds you can only buy online and that doesn't suit Ivys owner. Actually BB, the best thing you can do for Ivy is to seek the support of your breeder, ask her the diet questions as she's probably seen the results of most foods & their effects on your breed. And she's an awesome person fifi
  16. Oh Griff my darlin, I'm so sorry to read this. Beautiful Sinna, I know how much you loved her. tears here for you both. love fifi, danny & hounds xxxxxxxx

Now grow that coat young man - and get ye back into the ring & win those fringie ribbons for MM !! Wishing Hef a long & healthy life, and wishing MM back the ten years this has taken off her's !!!! Happy Christmas little Hef elf fifi
  20. Any news ? here's hoping it was just a quick removal of something that puppy ate. fifi
  21. I agree with Daisy, from what Peter D says, there is a strong possibility of recent exposure to parvo in the yard. Peter D, better to wait until your pup is over 12 weeks & had her third vaccination. Not worth the risk at nine weeks. fifi
  22. Wow, lets hope it a good sign. What did the Naturpath prescibe or what therapy did they use ? fifi
  23. still thinking of you little Bucca man. fifi
  24. Healing vibes from here. I may have missed what happened the little man, you mentioned another dog, was he bitten or crushed ? could be lots of bruising, have they ruled out any internal bleeding ? hoping the next 24 hours are positive. fifi
  25. Thinking of you and your Bucca boy. Lets hope its just severe bruising, and he gets through all this. hugs, fifi
