  1. oh KitKat, I'm so sorry - you are a brave and wonderful person, to give Harm his freedom today. to Harm... May the longtime sun shine upon you All love surround you and the pure light within you guide your way home fifi danny & hounds
  2. hi risyntira, I've not had to puff up a coat before, so can't help you there, but the Plushpuppy website do grooming and product advice, they were back to me within a day or so when I had a coat / product question, were very helpful and generous with their time. http://www.plushpuppy.com.au/ fifi
  3. Hi Rysintira, the Seabreeze oil is a non-'oily' oil, and nourishes the skin and hair shaft. I use it undiluted after a hydrobath, if we don't have a show for a week or two, I spray it on and massage it through to the skin. Its great on coarse coats, as it doesn't soften the texture for very long, but gets rid of that brittlenes that summer and itchies can bring on. Especially if coats are really brittle or broken by scratching. (we don't have fleas, but we do have paspalum and kykiu grass in the paddocks, that a couple of my guys will sometimes have an itchy reaction to) the coat has a little shine after it, but its soaked up really quickly after applying. it doesn't hang on and collect dust the way a hot oil treament would. I often put some in the rinse water of the hydrobath, as a maintenace for the coat. It smells nice too, and has calendula and evening primrose oil in it. Wolfhounds aren't bathed very often, as their coat is meant to be a harsh / coarse texture, and the coats tend to soften and not be as weather proof if they are bathed as much as other dogs, and the skin can dry out and become flaky. so I make sure each bath really counts with coat care. fifi edited to add; the pixie dust is great, I help show a friend's affies, and you sprinkle some on the brush, tap out the exess, and give the draping areas of coat a quick brush, use it very sparingly and it really catches the light and highlights the coat on the move.
  4. :D its great stuff, I use the soothing shampoo, the Seabreeze oil for dry and itchy summer coats, and the ruffy tuffy coat spray. I use it on my affie too. fifi
  5. :D so sad for your sudden loss, Hapi looked just that, a happy boy. run at the bridge handsome man. fifi

    Molly

:p Rozzie, you are so brave, taking on these little lost souls, and knowing that sooner rather than later, you will have to say goodbye. You and Mr Rozzie are so special. run free and young at the bridge Molly. fifi
  7. ;) Peibe, you DID make their lives nicer, in fact you saved their lives, and did not let them die a lonely pound death. You gave them a home and love, and they were both here for a good time, not a long time. Peibe, you can't help things that have happened to their health before they came to you, with you they had the best of care until it was their time. run free Pippa & Kira. hugs to you from fifi
  8. well I guess as a breeder, any males here are long planned and awaited, so their 'accessories' are much wanted !! any rescues that come through here or stay here, are immediatley castrated. living in multi dog households is much easier when there is no testosterone flying about. And for the average Joe public, who are often unable to contain, train or restrain their dogs, I feel they should be routinely speyed & castrated to prevent unwanted litters and fights. fifi
  9. sorry, but my big fella is just about to undergo neutering, he has an enlarged prostate, that will only be assisted by castration. I know a lot of dogs who live with breeding bitches who have had to undergo this. fifi
  10. so young to lose her, you must be shattered. Can you share what happened? she looked so beautiful. hugs for your loss from fifi & hounds xxxx

  15. for you and Teddy, give him the biggest cuddle, I'm so sorry you cant be with him, but after 16 wonderful years, I'm sure he knows how well he is loved by you. run to the bridge Teddy, and feel young with the wind in your beautiful coat. hugs to you fifi
  16. Ellieb, she will stop when she's had enough, and flop or just stroll beside you. As long as you are keeping an eye on her, and maybe pop her on lead every now and again for a little rest. The main problem for pups, in this topic is long on lead walks, especially on road or pavement, where the young dog walks past their normal burst and rest. and the pounding a pavement can give to young bones. fifi
  17. Hazz, i'd only let her do her puppy 'zoomies' outside in a fenced yard, inside is asking for an injury, either by slipping or crashing into something. Axxl, a puppy being walked further away from home, can't just flop down when its tired, so they keep walking and can damage the growth plates in their legs (the knobbly bits) just let her do her puppy 'thing' in the garden, and tiny walks on lead, say five to ten minutes at the most. If you were just strolling on your walks, your pup should be fine, but most importantly, stop the long walks now. Puppies will gallop and play in the garden, and develop muscle at their own pace, once she is older, you can do longer walks, but until a year old, I feel concrete or pavement should be only a small part of the walk, make it a park if you have one. I also agree with the comment on training, I take my young wolfies to training, but only do half the class, and have an agreement with the trainer, that we don't do the 'sits' when we stop, firstly because its a huge strain on those big baby bones, and we show them, and don't want them sitting in the ring. don't worry to much axxl, just enjoy your pup, and she will grow strong and sound if you keep the lead walks to a minimum. Car trips and little strolls around the shops are fine, and important for socialising. fifi
  18. sorry to hear about your dog. It really depends on the diagnosis, heart conditions can vary from mild to critical; my old boy was diagnosed with mitral valve failure on the Monday, and had to be put to sleep on the Friday, medication was only to keep him comfy until he was ready to say goodbye (he did really well for four days) My friend's dog had cardio-myopathy, was on medication for years, and lived happily and well. So its really a case of what your vet finds, I know many dogs that have lived on Fortekor for a looooong time, with good vet management and a good diet & moderate exercise. good luck, let us know how you go. fifi
  19. What a beautiful tribute to a georgous girl. I hope Chilly is leading the team. hugs to you, fifi
  20. fingers and toes crossed for you Ollie. Hang in there Jodie, we will hope that its only localised and they are able to exise the nasties in one go. sending hugs for you both. fifi

    Mabel

sorry to hear about Mabel, do you have any piccies you could share with us? When I was vet nursing on the central coast at tick central, some we saved who seemed lost, and others pulled through when all hope was gone, its so cruel, and such a shock to lose your beloved dog so suddenly this way. I've learned today of two others who didn't make it either, please be kind to yourself, and know that you all tried your best to save her. hugs from fifi & hounds
  22. oh Stormy, I'm so sad to hear this news. All dogs get into your heart, but wolfies just steal it. hugs from fifi & hounds xxxxxx
  23. oh I was so hopeful for a good outcome for you all. run free at the bridge Tasha, and hugs to your heartbroken family. . . . . . . and when you are up to it, maybe a letter to council to let them know to follow some kind of ID procedure for the next dog they find. fifi
  24. thanks for the update Rozzie, give the old girl a kiss from us. fifi
