  3. so sad for you, and you have every right to be very sad - these little guys get into your heart. Size of our loved ones doesn't dictate how we feel loss or saddness. As much as we love ratties, we have decided not to get any for just those reasons, so loveable and too short a time with us. hugs from our clan fifi

  9. not much grace here BL ! puffy eye's and tears from nowhere :D But I have to admit, it is easier on my heart, knowing Navarre reached more years than we dared to hope with the health issues he battled in older age, and that we were able to give him a gentle passing on the day he let us know was the right one. I can't thank you all enough, it was the first thing I needed to do - to mark his passing here and on email with friends. fifi
  10. Thanks, we raised a glass in his honour tonight, to Navarre - a life well lived & loved. fifi
  11. You are right Moop, thank you for reminding me, his baby pic won a photo competition on here a few years ago, and the huge kong toy that Troy donated is still in use - with our youngest boy. Tamsyn is missing him terribly, so she is inside with me today. fifi
  12. Thank you all for your lovely well wishes. the postie just arrive with a christmas gift from special wolfhound friends, so I decided to open it to cheer us up - it had HAIGH's chocolates in it :D just what the doctor ordered. Navarre was my hearthound and I feel numb. but I'm glad to have held him & helped him over the bridge when he showed me it was his time. fifi
  13. Its with a heavy heart that I share my sad news, our old boy was peacefully put to sleep today. Navarre...my beautiful CH Beleriand Dragonsbane. The boy in my avatar. It was time, he needed to leave his tired body. He had battled prostate & bladder cancer. He chose the day between the Solstice and Christmas - so I guess he was hedging his bets. He has been buried next to our other beloved hounds, and I have a beautiful liquid amber tree to plant upon him. we loved him so very much, he was an ambassador for wolfhounds in every way, a gentle companion, a protector of his pack, and a wonderful show dog - winning many class in groups, a few BIG, and Runner up in show at the wolfhound specialty. He gained a little fan club who loved his gentle smile and leaning. more tears still to shed. fifi, danny & hounds will try again for pictures later. Navarre is the boy in my avatar.

  25. If its a hound - then its a normal evening 'chorus' We have a couple of minutes of howling each evening & morning - its a hound thing and part of canine communication. But with this dog, if its all alone, then it could be from separtion & lonliness. maybe it could sleep in the laundry or kitchen ? fifi
