  1. I just pay someone to do it on the dogs who is truley excellent. The way she does the technique compared to others is so different. I will pay good money for the right person, infact i spend over $90 plus every 2 month for my dogs o have it done
  2. If it was me i would be going by the specialists advice dry eye is more than a simple problem but after treatment alternatives can be used & we have used alternatives but the dogs have always been treated & monitored by the specialist first One of the best products we have used is an eye gel from the chemist super stuff but as i said this was strictly used after consult with a specialist
  3. Full time groomer with salon, have show dogs & grew up trimming. Price wise if your a good groomer people will pay, what we get alot of very upset owners where groomers havent a clue butchered the coats or dont now how to do a breed trim. In schnauzers so many trim the beards & do it all wrong. The beard doesnt grow back quickly its the age of the dog. I look at it this way if your a professional groomer you should be able to do the job or atleast say its above your ability. We have plenty that come every 4 weeks at $100 a pop . The only difference for us is all the equipment is needed for the showdogs but you still need your insurance etc etc
  4. .... I have been told that most airlines require you to present a current health certificate from the vet prior to travelling anyway. This isnt true for domestic flights. Personally i agree with spotted devil ,The first month is so crucial for pups in settling to there new home, teaching it the house plan & letting the adjust to leaving its littermates & gaining trust of its new family. Not all pups settle quickly & not all new owners cope well for the first week If i was the breeder i wouldnt send the pup until you got home. You are going to take the pup to a place where ther sounds like will be alot of people & you could very well find your pup could suffer badly for the long term but its a risk you must decide. We have flowen pups often but my concern is the disruption to the pups home life at a crucial stage
  5. I agree the dog is confused where to go . When you visit friends she is toileting to what she simply has been taught, its fine to go inside. She hasnt been taught to hang because theres always something on the floor for her to go when she needs to. I think you also need to remember chis are tough little dogs ,cold weather is just that, chis get shwoen every weekend in the cold, walking on week grass & running around there owners back yards, there still dogs. You have shut her off from her own routine so now she is doing what you find acceptable going inside. I say get her back to being a dog, normal routine whether it be hot or cold because the longer you leave it the worse it will get. You needto consider what you will do every winter for the next 14 yrs?? She is only 9 months now but she doesnt have a normal routine. You either need to set the pet loo inside the house or arrange a better solution for outside
  6. When they run the yard she will do so in spurts then lay down, they do it at there own pace & rest, walking is different. Everyone has different beliefs but i dont walk my large breeds for that long as puppies not prepared for the risks. Walking is constant & after a while you often see babies starting to pace in movement . Breeder didn't really say anything about walking. They didnt give you a puppy folder about exercise, feeding & diet for a lrage breed puppy??
  7. I walk my large breeds very short spells for training/socializing /co ordination otherwise its free range exercise at there own pace. Walking whether fast or slow is still pounding which is the issue on there growing joints. "Puppy school and jnr school actually recommended us walking " did they also mention too much exercise is also bad for hips/growing joints??This is a crucial stage of her life where damage for life can be done with over doing the exercise & walking. What did your breeder say about exercising??
  8. I wouldnt be walking a young large breed for 1.5hrs aday. Weight is purely in relation to the dog. No set this age that weight
  9. $300 sounds very cheap for a registered breeder?? I would honestly say if she shows then she should have no issues in being able to sell via referrals, also if she is a memebr of the goldie club in her state they do list litters availble via members.Goldie pups arent hard to sell & if shes a breeder & shows then she should be very aware of the best places to advertise & the vets & offices certainly arent .She should be paying to list herself in the breeders directory of her state journal etc etc But something sounds a tad odd she should seriously be having no issues in selling them if all is well
  10. Remember you can still be your dogs best friend but be in charge. The dog does more with you because it nows the games can turn more in the dogs favour with it ruling the roost
  11. I think you need to forget what the Rotti did & remember this is a different breed that requires different methods. The breeder is doing all the right things .The way the dog is raised from the day it gets home is the way you mould the dog & central asians arent your normal every day breed .I suggest you ask the breeder first so you dont get confused unless there are people very offay with this type of breed
  12. If its UTI & not treated it can become a very expensive problem if not sorted early. If its incontinience then again its better to find a treatment to fix it now.We have clients using propalin with great success,no one here has used stilbestrol for years as it does have serious side effects. Theres alos another tab a client tried bit it also can have bad side effects
  13. If you read every reserach site they all say something different,i have feed raised & always will . I keep de gas on hand as it must contain a set ingredient for it to work. The simple rule is use commen sense & be aware. The dog we had with it already had major health issues so it complicated matters
  14. I think seperating will be worse. I agree do a dummy run.Go out & then wait to hear the noise if possible vidoe or watch. I agree talk to your neighbours & apologise & ask them to call you if there is any problems. I agree start training, ensure there walked prior too .Also look at what toys are being left & whats creating the noise. Do you mean meaty bones??If so i wouldnt leave bones unsupervised for starters, pick objects that arent possessions but fun
  15. Yes & didnt survive had already twisted before surgery or tubing could be done
  16. "I was told by a breeder that when the puppies are little and resting on your lap or something poke and prod play with it ears put your hands in it mouth ect. Not to hurt them or torment them " Must be the only breeder that suggests that & the fact is your are tormenting, whether it be animal or human when we are asleep & woken unexpectedly we all react differently .Humans react out of the norm & so do dogs commensense really. We have a very simple rule "let sleeping dogs lie" & if you want something to happen awake them first & give them the deceny to be responsive to what is asked . We in over 20 plus years have never tested the dogs whilst asleep & never ever will & have no issues at all with nipping. When the dog is alseep & you start to pock about you are disturbing "Sound mean and people will be horrified but then the dog grows up much more tolerant not just with kids but when they have to go to the vet" Actually has no bearing at all especially with the vets its all about training which cant be done on a dog half asleep, just like a human driving a car tired your reactions are very different.
  17. "She is registered on the main register" makes no difference it purely depends on the muscle in that area
  18. "tugged your pups leg when asleep" but remember a child watches an adult do this & they just follow .Parents are role modles for kids & if they see adults do something they dont see its as wrong.
  19. Bowen is massage & yes it should be in Tassie.Your best source to find out would be horse people or even the shops like Europa etc. I get my dogs done nearly every month & the oldies aswell who do have arthritis etc & it is well worth every cent(it isnt chiro but massage)
  20. Personally i would be sticking to a correct diet for a puppy & then maintaining a good simple diet & supplementing. My dogs get supplements every day from puppy to old age & i do not believe you can get the same quantity from a diet alone plus the dietery requirements of a pup. I would alos look at a good fitness programme to maintain joint health to the best possible like swimming,i would also seek out a good Bowen therapist
  21. We use home mixed CS on the dogs reguarly our friends makes it & we swear by it. The home mixed can be made much stronger which is why we will only use it that way. We plan to buy the machine latter on but our friend just makes up the big batches at present & we share. Super stuff for dogs & humans
  22. I agree with BC lover you get 2 dogs because you want too share your life, time & money on 2 dogs.Never buy just for the soul intent of company you will regret it if brought from that aspect only
  23. I have to agree the pup was reacting to something that hurt,if it was a human who scared you whilst asleep what would your reaction be. The pup would have no idea what it did wrong because it reacted to something done whilst it was asleep not a delibrate act of nipping. "grab his leg and other body parts when he is asleep" im sorry but why disturb a pup during its needed sleep, did you do this to your child when sleeping?? We cant stress to people when the dog is asleep leave it alone ,a simple theory that even us humans stress to other family members so give the dog the respect it deserves in one simple area, place it in a safe area & let it be because one day your pup may decide to react to your actions & it wont be the dogs fault but like now you want to reprimand for something that isnt its fault . I agree the child should have been reprimanded even if one years I should also add given your post about its lameness why are you pulling its legs when asleep when its in obvious disomfort???
  24. I feed eukanuba on some dogs with no issues at all . Why the change though??
