I think that some people give zinc as a suppliment so I wouldn't be that worried. And the fact that he threw up a few times means that he probably managed to get a fair bit out of his system. As the vet said just keep and eye on him. Do you know the brand of the sunscreen? Maybe you can google it and see what it contains. If it's a doggy one then they should have already factored in that dogs might injest some of it by licking etc when it is put on them so it is probably pretty safe. As for his behaviour he probably knew he had done something wrong. I am sure you guys yelled at him for being so stupid etc.

Oh no poor poppet. Sounds like he needs an anti nausia injection and the slippery elm to line his tubby sounds like a good idea. So glad my tribe only had a very mild case of whatever it is.

Very interesting. Do you have a link or the book this info is from?

What sort of puppy do you have? With my pugs I actually cut the chicken necks up into halves or quaters so they don't hoover them down and choke. The still have to have a chew on each piece so it is still good for their teeth. I always supervise at meal times and when they have bones to stop any potential fights and a make sure they don't choke.

Give your pup a dose of Revolution, as well as heartworm it also kills fleas and ear mites. Continue using the ear cleaner. Are you cleaning out all the gunk you can see? If not with cotton buds carefully clean the rest of the ear. If the ears become red and infected looking then I would go to the vets and get some medicated ear drops and maybe some antibiotics.

Must be a bug going around. Maybe some of that Rehydration stuff would be good for him or maybe some yoghurt to restart his tummy. I had 5 of the 6 pugs I had here throwing up on Sunday & Monday. The first one started in the early hours of Sunday morning (pretty sure she was the source) then it was a progression with the next one at about 5am, then the next one at 7am, 9am and the last 10am. The first one one was the worst and threw up about 5 times whilst the others either only had one or two spews each. I didn't give them any food during the day and they got baked chicken breast and steamed carrots for dinner and were fine. Interestingly the one that didn't get the bug has an elizabethan plastic collar on because of recent eye surgery. Seems like it somehow sheilded him from the germs.

Is it for humans or dogs? What part of WA do you live in? Their should be a pet supply shop somewhere near you that actually sells fresh kanagaroo meat.

I am pretty sure the pet grade meat does. If you can find human grade then that should be much better.

Sounds like Chelsea needs some cortisone tablets in the short term. Have you tried Phisohex on her?

Take her to the vet tomorrow to make sure she hasn't got a scratch or injury. If she has no damage also ask the vet to test for dry eye and have a look to see if her eyelids are rolling in and causing her eyelashes to rub on her eyes causing irritation. If she has none of that going on, no obvious cause for the discharge, then it's probably just an infection that some antibiotic eye drops will clear up. How old is she? What breed is she?

Must be the throwing up season. I've had 5 of the 6 I have here have a spew with the first one starting at about 2am and the last one at about 10am. Not to worried as they have only each thrown up once each and their poo's are solid and they seem generally well.

I wouldn't worry to much. My dogs sometimes will have a spew for no particular reason. He probably gulped his dnner to fast or there was something in it that didn't agree with him. He might have a tummy bug that will pass. Just keep an eye on him. If he does it again tomorrow after dinner then maybe take him to the vets.

Just wondering if anyone could reccomend a doggy chiropractor or a doggy massuse or acupuncture in Victoria preferably not to far away from Box Hill. An ex rescue that I fostered has been limping and his parents have had him on the anti inflamitory injections but are wanting to try something else as well. This puggy came out of a puppy farm situation and was used for nothing but stud duties for years.

Thornit Ear Powder Or Substitute
puggy_puggy replied to Sheridan's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
What is actually in the powder? Could something like babies Curash ointment and powder do the same thing? -
Yep Aloveen is from vets. Have bathed my itchy pug in the EPO shampoo twice now and I think it is helping. He hasn't scratched nearly as much after his bath as he usually does. With the organic baby shampoo he was better then he had been with any other sorts of doggy shampoo but now I think the EPO might be working even better then the organic baby shampoo.

Pink Spot Has Developed On Ben's Nose
puggy_puggy replied to krash01's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Seems like nothing that sinister. Don't hold me to this but the fact that it hasn't changed and it isn't raised, scabby or crusty would seem to point to things be ok. Pugs will lose the pigmentation in their chops if they get a pimple or an injury. The area will usually take a few weeks to return to black. Keep and eye on it and maybe as suggested put some vaseline on it. Could be just the way Ben is. Like how us humans get different pigmentation & freckles on our skin. -
Go to your local pet supply store and they should have them loose so that you can choose how many you buy. PS. Make sure that the pet supply store doesn't actually sell pets.

Blade And Scissor Sharpening
puggy_puggy replied to charlie mouse's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I know that Lincraft has a sharpening service. I know that they are material people but you would think that someone that sharpens material scissors would also do other sorts of sharpening. Maybe Bunnings has a sharpening service. -

Where Can I Get Kangaroo Meat & Bones?
puggy_puggy replied to puggy_puggy's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks Curly. I also found Bayswater Pet Supplies and Montrose Pet Supplies. The pugs had diced kangaroo last night for dinner and all loved it. It hasn't seemed to have had any ill effect on them, like it can with some dogs, so I will be adding it to their diet once a week. I bought a tail and it's massive. I think I will have to get the hacksaw out and chop it down the middle before the pugs chomp into it. -
I add to my BARF vegi slops: Flaxseed Oil Kelp Grains I am not sure if I need to add anything else as I think to myself in the wild they would not be having all of these extra suppliments and I feed a good diet.

Whoops! Another Contradiction.
puggy_puggy replied to moggy's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
If you buy human grade offal and use an intestinal worming tablet at least every three months , as well as your monthly heart worm treatment, you should have no problems. Don't feed in to big a quantity as it can also cause toxic overload. At the moment I am feeding my pugs a chopped up raw lambs kidney each once a week. I know there are many differnt opinions on feeding offal. Apparently it is illegal to do so in Tasmania so Tasmaninas will tell you not to feed it at all. Some say cook it before hand, some say freeze if before hand, some say cooking and freezing won't kill the nasties ie the Tapeworms. The you have the BARF and raw feeders that have no problems with feeding it raw. -
I would remove the nail. Bath it in salty water, apply some betadine. Some people bandage some people don't. The nail will eventually grow back.

Visited Lynda and Archie this morning and picked up some EPO shampoo and some Banana & Mango shampoo. I love their little tribe of fur kids. Washed my itchie pug boy in the EPO and blow dryed him. Suprisingly he seemed to enjoy the hairdryer. Washed my normal skinned girl puggy and holidaying boy puggy in the Banana & Mango shampoo and they smell so yummy. I bath my pugs and any rescues/holidaying pugs once a week. They sleep in my bed so if the didn't get thier weekly bath I couldn't cope.
