Cats In The Reception Area Of The Vets
casowner replied to ruthless's topic in General Dog Discussion
Taking an animal to a clinic is normally pretty stressful and I fully understand why people would be upset seeing Clinic cats, you would think that the Vets would see this, but it is quite common. As Jake is so big, dominant and not happy around many strangers I pay the extra for a call out fee for the vet to come to my house - if possible, if not we organise to go through the back door to avoid the waiting room I have my 2 Kookaburras, galah, rainbow lorikeet and galah cross corella in the store but we have signs up telling people that pets are welcome but please keep them under control as there are birds loose. We generally put them away as soon as we see dogs come into the store and the only issue we ever had was with a guy that let his BMD in the shop with no lead or collar and he made a beeline for them. Luckily a staff member caught him but the owner thought it was amusing -
I thought that registered breeders had to sell puppies with papers and if they can't register white ones, can they be sold? Genuine Question as I don't know. If it is a Registered Breeder and the pups are unregisterable should they be at least be rehomed desexed? Just in case they were bred from (Not presuming you would Mumsy) just another Question in my ever revolving brain, sorry

I just wanted to say that no matter how nice your male may end up unless you are dedicated to the breed or are being mentored by your breeder then desexing it should be a priority. Mine was desexed at 6 months of age and he is a rare breed. Handling an undesexed male flock guardian would be very difficult, even mine that is desexed is a constant challenge - one that you have to be 200% dedicated too.

I have a Flock Guardian from Lilli and she is great, but dogs need to match homes. Flock guardians are not suitable for many people and their situations. Before buying one RESEARCH, RESEARCH and then more RESEARCH

No words, just tears and a very sick feeling in my stomach RIP little ones :D :p

I am a big believer of selling your product or showcasing it is a better word. So my vote is for the first too. If you were in SA you would be welcome to practice by taking photos of my crew from horses, camels, birds of prey to domestic pets - no shortage of volunteers here. Well done and congratulations

My knees hurt, my boobies wobble, my feet get sore and Jake couldn't be stuffed anyway

Thank you for the indepth answer.... I didn't think I deserved the angry face though, just trying to help

I'm sorry to see that you are getting offended again, unfortunately you will come to learn the anything to do with animals brings emotive responses some you will like, some you won't. You say the house has been cleaned of Parvo - what procedures were carried out to do that? what disinfectants were used etc? - these are questions any responsible breeder will ask you if you (as you should) inform them of the previous issue with your pup.

Breeders, How Would You Respond To An Email Like This?
casowner replied to rastus_froggy's topic in General Dog Discussion
For that price were they all blue by chance? i would be concerned that all were offered on main register with no questioning on why you want a pup or what you wanted to do with it -
Just Came Home From The Dog Kennel Disappointed

Have you had your phone call returned yet? I noticed that the other member had been on reading this thread a few minutes ago. I don't know what your messages said but he/she is probably new (maybe) to the world of animal care and thought they were doing the right thing? Changing diets bothers me a bit though -

Just look under the OP's profile and look up OP's Topics, I think it was in December. -

In your last thread about the same topic I believe that you were given some good advice from experienced Oriental dog breeders/owners, maybe go through that again or I am sure they may post again. Good luck with your decision -

That same member has now changed her name and deleted what she wrote on the other thread, interestingly the bits where they said they fed their own food, which is what I was questioning when the dog was supplied with his own -
I must say I have never seen the word Snot written by so many people at once He is awfully gorgeous and I wish you and Snot all of the luck, rest, patience, and positive vibes that I have

To be honest you generally hear the negative about a business, rather than positives that is human nature. I am glad that you enjoy your job and that you are happy, I will not go into what I have heard as that is not appropriate for this forum. As long as you care for the dogs, theirs and their owners needs are met and that you maintain hygeinic conditions that is what is important. I personally will only recommend places that I or those close to me have had positive experiences with. I have read your posts on the other thread, I do have one question though. That dog was obviously sent with his own food but you fed it your own, had you checked with the records or asked the owner if that dog had special dietary requirements? Please do not think I am being harsh but things like that are very important in my opinion. I hope that you continue your passion and make the dogs in your care as healthy and happy as you possibly can

I have to say that I have heard quite a few negative comments too as I work in the Pet Industry, sorry

'building Better Dogs' Seminar 11 Feb 2010
casowner replied to mlc's topic in General Dog Discussion
I was about to post in Lost and Found LOST 1 Budgie, very large, accustomed to hiding in dark spaces Answers to the name Smuggler But I see he is in good hands... I mean pants... Jed, so you can keep him -
What a gorgeous looking puppy, thank you Aziah

I found giving my horses apple cider vinegar in their food has kept the bities and blowies away from them. Would this work for dogs or not? Yep, just googled it good for itchy skin and insect prevention - maybe worth trying, I know it worked really quick with my horses

'building Better Dogs' Seminar 11 Feb 2010
casowner replied to mlc's topic in General Dog Discussion
I thought you bred and brought up better dogs, not built them? Maybe start building better people with better values and responsibility first and then with their newfound appreciation and understanding of all creatures great and small many welfare issues may be averted. -
On his way to SA, Fabulous, lets hope he meets with a big, burly dog lover driving a scrap metal truck full of iron bars on the way down that has seen the story. If only they plastered a photo of the loser on the page also, nothing stopping him getting another one for "company" on the trip. Dirty, slimy, miserable creature. How could you possibly put that chain on an animal, he clearly is sick and must have derived pleasure from his torture. If that dog is only two years old what and was subjected to that torture in 2 days, what else has he endured in his life poor baby
